The Porsche Taycan has received numerous enhancements. The lineup, featuring the Taycan sports sedan and the Taycan Cross Turismo with an optional off-road package, come with 4 powertrain options for each variant, including rear- and all-wheel drive configurations.

During the development process, Porsche’s engineers and test drivers covered over 3.6 million kilometres worldwide in camouflaged test cars, continuously refining the first all-electric sports car from Porsche. With almost 150,000 units produced to-date, the Taycan has become a benchmark in the EV segment, with significant market presence in markets such as USA, UK, Germany, and China. Enhanced Performance: The updated Taycan models offer significantly improved acceleration compared to their predecessors. With the new push-to-pass function in the Sport Chrono package, there is up to 70 kW of additional power available for 10 seconds at the touch of a button. The increased acceleration rates are mainly the result of higher system output. For instance, the base Taycan delivers 60 kW more than before, while in the Taycan Turbo S, it’s an additional 140 kW using Launch Control. This increases the system output of the top model to 700 kW (952 PS).

The Taycan and Taycan Turbo S can do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.8 and 2.4 seconds respectively, making them 0.6 and 0.4 seconds faster than their predecessors. Porsche Taycan_Rear_Tail Lights

Extended Range: Owing to various refinements, the updated Taycan achieves gets an additional 35% (or 175 km) more range than before. Depending on the body and powertrain variant, this could mean an increase in driving range of up to 678 km (WLTP). The new Taycan also charges faster. At 800-volt DC charging stations, it can be charged at up to 320 kW, 50 kW more than before. The fast-charging window of the new performance battery has also been significantly expanded, which allows for charging capacities of more than 300 kW to be sustained for up to 5 minutes, even at low temperatures.

The updated Taycan takes just 18 minutes to get from 10% to 80% despite its larger battery capacity, compared to the preceding model’s 37 minutes. The Performance Battery Plus now has a gross capacity of 105 kWh, increased from 93 kWh. The battery provides energy to an advanced powertrain with a new rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW more power. The improved powertrain also uses a modified pulse inverter, revised thermal management, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), next-generation heat pump and a modified recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy for improved efficiency and driving dynamics.

The maximum recuperation capacity during deceleration from high speeds has also increased by more than 30% from 290 kW to up to 400 kW. All variants now come standard with aerodynamically optimised wheels and reduced-rolling-resistance tyres. Furthermore, new 21″ wheels and tyres were specially developed for this purpose.

Advanced Features: The refreshed Taycan comes with adaptive air suspension as standard, providing an optimal balance between driving comfort and dynamic performance. Moreover, the new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for the all-wheel drive versions. Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo_Side

The Porsche Active Ride suspension enhances stability and agility, keeping the body level at all times and ensuring an assuring connection to the road. Other enhancements include advanced driver assistance systems, integrated Apple CarPlay functionality, and an intuitive control and display concept. The new In-Car Video function also enables video streaming on the central display and the passenger display. Porsche Taycan_Steering_Centre Console_Dashboard_Dual Screen

Redefined Design: Featuring new front- and rear-end styling, including redesigned flatter headlights and tail lights, the Taycan boasts a clean, purist design language accentuated by distinctive design elements. The updated exterior styling, combined with accent colors such as Turbonite, enhances visual appeal of the Turbo and Turbo S models, further distinguishing them from other variants.

The new headlights feature high-resolution HD matrix technology with detailed optics and display the brand’s signature 4-point graphics at night. Meanwhile, the Porsche logo in the rear light strip features a three-dimensional, glass-look design. Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo_Tail Lights_Logo

“We ushered in the new era of e-mobility with the Taycan at the end of 2019. It immediately proved to be a game changer and innovative pioneer in the e-vehicle segment,” said head of the model line, Kevin Giek. “We are now continuing this success story with the extensively updated Taycan. The model line has reached new heights in terms of performance, with exceptional driving dynamics and driving pleasure. At the same time, we were able to significantly improve efficiency, range, day-to-day usability and comfort.” Porsche Taycan_Headlights

MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN Malaysia), has just delivered the first MAN double-decker coach equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to Super Nice Express Sdn Bhd. This first unit is one of 10 new MAN coaches (5 single deck and 5 double deck units) ordered by Super Nice to prepare for a growth in demand for interstate travel. All the new coaches will be fitted with ADAS as an extra safety feature.

The MAN double-decker coach is built on the proven RR5 3-axle coach chassis and boasts 7 essential driver assistance systems aimed at ensuring optimal safety for both drivers and passengers. These systems are Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Tyre Pressure and Temperature Monitoring System (TPM), Automatic Driving Light Activation (ADLA), and Automatic Wiper Control (AWC). Super Nice Express_MAN Double Decker Coach_ADAS

The EBA intervenes in an emergency situation by automatically reducing torque, activating brake lights, and initiating full braking to prevent or mitigate a collision. ACC enhances safety by maintaining a safe distance in heavy traffic and low visibility conditions, adjusting driving speed and distance based on the traffic flow ahead. Meanwhile, LDW helps alleviate driver strain on long journeys by sending a warning to the driver of lane deviations when the turn signal isn’t used.

Further, ESP reduces rollover risks in emergency manoeuvres by selectively applying brakes to specific wheels to ensure vehicle control and stability. While TPM continuously monitors tyre air pressure and temperature, thus minimising downtime and fuel consumption. ADLA uses sensors to adjust the headlamps based on ambient brightness for optimal road illumination, while AWC activates wipers in response to rain, enhancing visibility. Maxim E-hailing Malaysia has introduced an “Auto” feature designed to streamline the experience for partner-drivers by automatically accepting orders within their mobile application. This intelligent system analyses incoming ride orders and efficiently presents drivers with nearby booking opportunities.

If a driver is currently en route with a passenger, the Auto function seamlessly offers them the next trip with a pick-up point conveniently located near the current route’s end point. This enables drivers to fulfill orders in a continuous chain, thereby optimising their time and revenue.

Maxim_App_Map_ScreenshotThis Auto function is also meant to be beneficial for both partner-drivers and passengers. Drivers can focus on the road without worrying about missing new orders, ensuring a smoother ride experience for the passenger. Passengers meanwhile, benefit from quicker rides, as each subsequent ride order is initiated near the conclusion of the preceding one. Consequently, this feature contributes to an increase in the number of orders and enhances overall user satisfaction.

Furthermore, utilising the Auto feature translates to increased earnings for partner-drivers. With lower service commissions by Maxim for auto orders, and the ability to complete more orders efficiently, partner-drivers can maximise their income. The shortened distance between pick-up points also reduces fuel costs for the driver, while the elimination of manual order handling enhances driving quality and focus.

Maxim E-hailing also empowers partner-drivers with the choice to use the Auto feature or not. Drivers can opt to “Accept” or “Decline” or choose to disable the feature entirely. This flexibility allows partner-drivers to tailor the system to their preferences, ensuring a positive impact on their overall experience.

For Maxim E-hailing users, the Auto function also facilitates a seamless ordering process by automatically dispatching trip information to nearby drivers. This minimises waiting time for the user as a significant number of drivers utilise the Auto function, thus leading to faster order assignments. The system will ensure that users are connected with drivers, even for orders situated at a distance.

“Using the auto assignment tools increases the number of orders per day. As this feature is very convenient for our partner-drivers, I believe that many drivers prefer to turn on the Auto function to make more money and at the same time get a trip that’s close to them. In order to fulfill the partner-drivers’ demand, we allow them to enable and disable the system. It’s more flexible that way,” commented Mohd Hazwan, Director of Maxim E-hailing Malaysia. Maxim_Malaysia_E-hailing Service

Echoing this sentiment, Maxim partner-driver Yaw Mee Wei highlights the safety and financial benefits, “Personally, I prefer to turn on the Auto feature when I’m working. This is because I can focus on the road while driving and secure the next order. It makes trips safer while letting the system do its job and look for orders. And I also can earn more money with auto assignment on, as the next trip is connected with the destination point of the previous order”.

For the Year of the Dragon, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has 4 magnificent Bespoke commissions to mark the this Lunar New Year. Designed and hand-crafted at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, these rare and beautiful Bespoke creations i.e. 3 Phantom Extended models and a Cullinan, are a celebration of Chinese culture through Bespoke artistry. Just as Chinese culture transcends national boundaries, the destinations for these highly Bespoke motor cars span the world.

The commissions take inspiration from the dragon, an enduring symbol of power, success and prosperity. For the ‘Year of the Dragon’ Bespoke commissions, the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective created a modern, minimalistic expression of the dragon never previously seen in a Rolls-Royce, yet it remains faithful and respectful to the original form.

The 3 ‘Year of the Dragon’ Bespoke commissions include fascia panels adorned with contemporary artworks which reinterprets the dragon form. Individually hand-painted by one dedicated Rolls-Royce artist, each piece is a distinctive exploration of the colour red, which represents prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture. Each of the 3 artworks is the result of over 2 weeks of meticulous work.

To create this complex, 3-dimensional motif, the artist used multiple hues of red, applied on top of each other in 4 individual stages. First, the initial outline of the symbol was painted using a ‘feathering’ technique to create a flame effect, reflecting its festive, celebratory nature. This was followed by 3 more layers in darker shades of red, in which the artist added more details and depth. Each of these colours was individually blended from different proportions of red, white, yellow and brown; this development process alone took 3 days to complete. The 4 layers combine to create a 3D effect so realistic that the artwork appears to have been carved into the fascia.

To achieve such fine detailing, lacquer was meticulously applied after each layer of paint. Lacquering is a delicate process, especially on a white background, since any imperfection such as a stray particle of red paint would become instantly visible. The Rolls-Royce artist had to spotlessly clean and finely sand every completed layer before each lacquering stage to achieve the desired effect.

The dragon motif also extends discreetly throughout the motor car’s interior. It is elegantly depicted in Phoenix Red stitching on the headrests of each of the 4 seats, providing a bold contrast with the seat leather, which is presented in either Black or White. To create a dynamic appearance of the dragon, giving the impression of continuous movement, the artisans had to precisely align the stitch direction and adjust stitch density. Strategic variation in stitch angles along the tail enhanced the overall flow, creating a sense of fluidity in the design. Each embroidery comprises 5,449 stitches and took around 20 hours to complete. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars_Bespoke_Year Of The Dragon_Handstitched

In 3 of the commissions, the rear Piano Black picnic tables incorporate a minimalist representation of the circular Chinese zodiac calendar in inlaid stainless steel. The names of the animals representing each year are inscribed in traditional Chinese calligraphy, with the dragon highlighted in gold; the central dragon motif is also depicted in gold. For the 4th motor car, a Bespoke artwork featuring the dragon is inlaid in the Piano Black veneer in stainless steel.

The most dramatic expression of the mythical creature is in the Bespoke Starlight Headliner. This is specially created for these commissions and is the result of 3 months’ design and development work. Above the driver and passenger seats, 677 individually placed fibre optic ‘stars’ form an abstract dragon motif, surrounded by a further 667 lights. Positioning these all perfectly took over 20 hours of work by hand. The motor car destined for the Rolls-Royce Private Office Shanghai features a unique expression of the Bespoke Starlight Headliner incorporating red ‘stars’ in a bold and contemporary reference to the symbolism of red in Chinese culture. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars_Bespoke_Year Of The Dragon_Starlight Headliner

Each Phantom Extended commission is completed with a Gallery artwork, carefully protected behind an application of pure glass that runs uninterrupted across the fascia. Crafted from carbon fibre, it evokes dynamism and motion, complementing the dragon artwork. The interior is completed with Bespoke lambswool carpets, perfectly colour-matched to the leather trim.

“Rolls-Royce Motor Cars leads the luxury sector in creating products inspired by international cultures and traditions, incorporating designs, motifs, materials and colours that resonate with and have real personal meaning for our clients. These Bespoke creations, inspired by the Year of the Dragon in 2024, celebrate the international reach and influence of Chinese culture, which transcends national boundaries. Hence, these magnificent motor cars are destined for clients based across three continents. These creations are both a powerful expression of our respect for Chinese culture, and a contemporary, minimalist statement in line with trends we see among luxury consumers worldwide,” commented Jonathan Simms, Head of Bespoke, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

The Bespoke designers also had created unique colourways for the different models i.e. a duotone Cherry Red with Crystal finish over Selby Grey with a Crystal finish for the Cullinan; and a two-tone Silver and Cherry Red or monolithic Black with a Crystal finish for the Phantom Extended motor car commissions.

All 4 commissions feature a Bespoke coachline, hand-painted in Phoenix Red, that subtly incorporates a dragon motif. Each dragon is orientated to face right, which symbolically represents the East, the direction of the rising sun. Rolls-Royce_Bespoke_Coachline_Dragon

“Our aim was to create a modern interpretation of the dragon capturing its essence as a symbol of power. The design evokes a sense of motion and energy, expressing the dragon as a driving force, all rendered with a depth and complexity to reflect its commanding spirit and presence. It was an inspirational journey for our Bespoke Collective to reinterpret such a significant icon; our Bespoke artisans added their own subtle dimension and character to the dragon expression, showcasing how a single design can be transformed through different mediums and craft techniques,” shared Rebecca Davies, Bespoke Designer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
