The GAC Emkoo SUV was recently driven on a journey from China across Southeast Asia. Departing from Chengdu in China on 28 July, the convoy drove through a total of 4 countries in its “Ten Thousand Miles Across Southeast Asia” expedition. After crossing Laos and Thailand, on 15 August 2023, the Emkoo made a stop at the GAC showroom in Kuala Lumpur.
The journey was done by China-based Yundui Media which broadcast on Douyin, a platform similar to Tik Tok, and supported by the Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd (GAC), to demonstrate the reliability and durability of the Emkoo, a C-segment hybrid SUV. Throughout the journey, Yundui shared videos, photographs, and stories on its Douyin channel, engaging millions of viewers and followers in real-time, and showcasing GAC’s commitment to producing strong and reliable vehicles.
This campaign aimed to test the limits of the GAC Emkoo while highlighting the SUV’s advanced engineering, reliability, and performance. The journey also provided the opportunity for the Yundui entourage to experience the capabilities of the Emkoo on various terrain, climate conditions and challenging landscapes.
Using GAC’s Megastar chassis with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, the Emkoo 5-seater SUV comes in either a 1.5L turbo petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox or a 2.0L petrol hybrid with a DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission). The former has an official fuel efficiency of 16.1 km/l while the hybrid is rated at 22.1 km/l.
Notable features include a 10.1″ infotainment touchscreen, 7″ digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, intelligent high beam control, flushed exterior door handles, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ADAS suite.
