Logistics company, Aman Logistik Sdn Bhd has bought four flagship Volvo Trucks – the heavy-duty Volvo FH16. Aman Logistik is an integrated logistics solution provider for a wide range of services covering land, sea and air consignments, including forwarding and warehousing. The company is recognised as a leading specialist in the transportation of heavy haulage and oversized cargo, including beam launching and infrastructure works.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia_Volvo FH16_Aman Logistik_Prime Mover_Heavy Duty Truck_Mitch Peden“The delivery of the Volvo FH16 trucks to Aman Logistik reflects a positive extension of our solid sales performance in 2018, where we are continuing the growth of our premium flagship heavy-duty Volvo FH series,” said Mitch Peden, Managing Director, Volvo Trucks Malaysia, at the recent handover ceremony to Aman Logistik.

“Our business as a leading logistics provider of demanding heavy haulage requires us to use vehicles that are truly powerful, robust, safe and fuel efficient. It is crucial that the trucks add value to our business and customers, reduce operating costs and increase productivity over the vehicle’s lifetime,” commented Kenny Tee, Managing Director, Aman Logistik Sdn Bhd.

“We have also requested for Volvo Trucks to customize our trucks by adding a few more air tanks to facilitate the transportation of very heavy loads over long distance, which I am very pleased that they are able to do. With this, I believe the Volvo FH16 is the truck that we have been seeking for in our growing business,” added Tee.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia_Aman Logistik_FH16_Prime Mover_Heavy Duty Truck_Tractor Unit_Logistics“The Volvo FH16 is the ultimate machine for customers who demand extra capability, power and performance. As a premium heavy-duty truck, it offers massive torque and power, best-in- class fuel economy, reliability and safety,” said Peden.

Peden added that the Volvo FH16 is customisable to maximise productivity and can withstand the heaviest and most demanding operations on a variety of road conditions and terrain. It is also highly capable of handling deliveries of oversized and super-heavy loads.

Volvo FH Series Truck Gear Lever, MalaysiaThe Volvo FH series pushes the limits of what a premium truck can offer and is equipped with technology that creates ultimate onboard safety, a more economical driveline and high uptime. One of the FH16’s unique features is its I-Shift technology transmission with ultra-low crawler gears which allows the truck to drive at speeds as low as 0.5 – 2 km/h and start off from standstill while hauling 325 tonnes of payload. This technology offers a completely new opportunity for heavy trucks with automated transmissions to control their speed when hauling heavy loads. “So far, the robust sale performance of Volvo FH indicates that this model is setting a benchmark in premium high-performance truck category and making measurable positive impact on our customers’ business profitability and competitive advantage,” he added.

There is a consequence to the increase in vehicle sales by Perodua and it should be felt by the automotive suppliers in Malaysia. Each model in the national carmaker’s vehicle line-up have over 90% local content, and this is helping the local suppliers which in turn benefits the local economy. In the first four months, Perodua vehicle sales hit 82,700 units, a 9.5% increase compared to the same period in 2018 (75,500 units).

This is the highest number of vehicles Perodua has sold in the first four months of any year in its history. In April, the company sold over 7,700 Myvis, 5,900 Axias, 4,200 Bezzas, 3,200 Aruz and 1,100 Alzas sold. Due to the strong demand for its models, the company had spent RM1.8 billion on local automotive suppliers for component purchases. For 2019, the company is projecting a budget of RM5.4 billion on local component purchases.

Perodua_Dato Zainal Abidin Ahmad_President & CEO_Malaysia“The sales figures, which are internally generated, show strong continued support for our products and we, along with the country’s automotive ecosystem, consisting mainly of suppliers and authorised dealers, are sincerely grateful for this endorsement,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said. Dato’ Zainal said that Perodua will work further towards its commitment to purchase from domestic automotive component suppliers in the years to come, despite challenging market conditions.

“While Perodua awaits the Malaysian Automotive Association’s (MAA) official total industry volume numbers, we believe that Perodua’s market share is above 43% for the four-month period, thus directly benefitting the domestic economy as a whole. While it is too soon to set targets beyond 2019, we are cautiously optimistic that there will be growth for Perodua in the year 2020 and this will in turn directly benefit local suppliers,” Dato’ Zainal said.

The company’s recorded sales total of over 22,100 units in April 2019 is nearly 11% higher than April 2018’s 19,939 units, making it the company’s best-ever April in terms of sales. Dato’ Zainal added that demand for Perodua’s new seven-seater SUV, Aruz, has exceeded expectations, and that production has been accelerated to meet this demand and ease waiting periods to more acceptable levels.

Perodua Aruz SUV_Malaysia_Launch“As for the Aruz, we are happy to report that in April we registered over 3,200 units – the most we have ever managed in a single month for the seven-seater SUV. This achievement is significant to us as the Aruz represents our latest transformation effort towards becoming a regional brand,” Dato’ Zainal commented.

“Since the order books for the Aruz opened on 3 January, nearly 20,000 bookings have been recorded, yielding an average of 170 bookings daily. And as of today, over 9,800 Aruz have been delivered since registrations began on 31 January – an average of more than 100 units daily – making it among the best-selling SUVs in the country.

Perodua May 2019 Sales Campaign_Malaysia“The Myvi continues to be our best-selling model – since its November 2017 launch we have delivered over 115,000 units to happy customers, who love the stylish looks, build quality, fuel efficiency, interior space and the amount of advanced equipment they get for the price,” he said.

“We wish all Muslims a blessed Ramadan and we will be working harder than ever to get as many cars out to our valued customers as we can within the month. We really appreciate the strong trust Malaysians have placed in us these 26 years, and we will continue to strive, via our products and services, to fulfil as many of your motoring needs and wants as possible,” he added.
