The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance (9) - Laserlights, BMW X Range Roadshow, BMW Group Malaysia 2018BMW Group Malaysia is showing off the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance at the BMW X Range Roadshow in Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur. This is the first appearance of the Concept X7 in Southeast Asia and it will be on display until tomorrow (Sunday, 22 July 2018).

The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance is BMW’s take on a large Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV). This 6-seater features quality materials and a state-of-the-art infotainment system. It also wears the new face of BMW – large vertical kidney grille and elongated headlights. The iPerformance badge represents the plug-in hybrid characteristic, with BMW eDrive technology working in combination with the BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has started its Merdeka promotions on its vehicles, which will run until the end of August 2018.

From now until 31 August, customers who book and register a new Mitsubishi Triton will enjoy Merdeka bonus and rebates worth up to RM15,100.

The Mitsubishi Triton recently picked up the Pick-Up Trucks of Malaysia award at the Cars of Malaysia Awards 2018. The Merdeka promotions apply to all Triton variants and are as follows:

Honda Dash 125 Launch, Boon Siew Honda, Malaysia 2018Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd has launched its latest Dash 125 motorcycle which features an all-new 125cc engine. It replaces the Wave Dash which was introduced 7 years ago. Three variants are available i.e. Dash 125 with Single Disc Brake (RM5,999); Dash 125 with Double Disc Brakes (RM6,299); and Dash 125 Repsol Edition Double Disc Brakes (RM6,499). Aside from the Repsol Edition livery, there are three other colours to choose from – Pearl Magellanic Black, Vivacity Red and Pearl Nightfall Blue.

As mentioned, the new Honda Dash 125 uses a new air-cooled, single-cylinder SOHC 4-stroke fuel injection engine with 3.5 kW and 9.54 Nm. It also features a few upgrades from the preceding Wave Dash, such as LED headlight, new leg shield design, new mirror design, and new speedometer. The rims now also feature a sporty rim lining to make it stand out.

The Dash 125 comes with a 2-year or 20,000 km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes first).

MINI Malaysia has launched the facelifted MINI in two body styles i.e. MINI Cooper S 3 Door, Cooper S 5 Door. The more powerful John Cooper Works (JCW) version is available as a 3 Door.

The MINI Cooper S 3 Door is priced at RM226,888, 5 Door at RM236,888, and the JCW 3 Door at RM283,888. These are on-the-road prices, excluding tax and insurance, but includes a four-year unlimited mileage warranty and four-year (or 60,000 km) free service package.

MINI 3 Door Rear, Malaysia Launch 2018The MINI comes with new bi-LED headlights, LED daytime running lights / turn indicators, and Union-Jack themed LED tail lights. It also utilises Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) engine cover to shave about 13% of its weight. MINI engines are now up to 8 kg lighter to give better fuel efficiency, and comply to Euro 6c standards.

The 2.0L turbocharged engine is shared from the BMW Group and still produces 192 hp and 280 Nm, but as it has received numerous updates and improvements, including weight savings, it is now more efficient. The Cooper S 3 Door has an official average fuel consumption of 5.5 litres per 100 km, while the 5 Door, 5.6 litres per 100 km. The JCW is rated at 231 hp and 320 Nm, with consumption at 6 litres per 100 km.

MINI Cooper S 2.0L Twin Power Turbo Engine, Malaysia0 – 100 km/h sprint times are 6.7 seconds and 6.8 seconds respectively, while top speed is capped at 235 km/h. For the JCW version, it’s 6.1 seconds and 246 km/h. Power is carried to the wheels via a new 7-speed dual clutch (wet) Steptronic sports transmission with torque converter and an electronic gear shifter. However, the JCW uses an 8-speed automatic. The trasmissions now allow Coasting in the MID drive mode where it was previously available only in GREEN mode. This feature intuitively shifts the engine to idle when the foot is off the accelerator pedal when cruising.

The MINI 3 Door.

MINI Cooper S 3 Door 17-inch alloy wheel, MalaysiaThe new MINI 3 Door comes with 17” Cosmos Spoke in Black, where a coat of special black paint provides a more dynamic look that gives the rims a high-gloss finish and deep black paint effect. The heart of the MINI Centre Instrument is the high-resolution 6.5″ touchcreen display with navigation, which can also be operated via the MINI Controller.

MINI Connected allows you to integrate your smart phone, and apps, with your MINI. With the MINI Connected app, you can easily check Fuel Consumption, Fuel Range and Last Known Location.

The car is also equipped with a rear view camera to complement to the Park Distance Control feature.

The interior of the new MINI 3 Door comes with the backlit MINI Yours Illuminated Cockpit. The display lights up with a stylised Union Jack, offering 12 colours to suit your mood. The interior is finished with Leather Cross Punch in Carbon Black.

The MINI 3 Door comes in seven colours – Chili Red, Pepper White, Solaris Orange, White Silver, Starlight Blue, Thunder Grey and British Racing Green paired with Black Roof. Alternatively, Chili Red can also be paired with White Roof.

The MINI 5 Door.

MINI Cooper S 5 Door, Malaysia 2018The MINI 5 Door rides on high-gloss 17” John Cooper Works Track Spoke in Black, exclusively developed for optimum weight support and fitted with run-flat tyres. It also comes standard with the sporty John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit which includes a rear spoiler.

The interior is finished in Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black and the Black Chequered Interior Style.

The MINI 5 Door comes in six colours – Chili Red, Pepper White, Emerald Grey, White Silver, Starlight Blue and British Racing Green paired with Black Roof. Chili Red can also be paired with White Roof.

Kia Stinger GT, Launch 2018, Naza Kia MalaysiaNaza Kia Malaysia has launched Kia’s fastest automobile in Malaysia. The Kia Stinger sports sedan is available in two variants – the 2.0L GT-Line, priced at RM239,888, and the 3.3L V6 GT, at RM307,888. The 2.0L Theta II T-GDi with twin-scroll turbocharger produces 251 hp and 353 Nm to get the Stinger GT-Line from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds; the 3.3L twin-turbo V6 Lambda T-GDi has 365 hp and 510 Nm and a 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds. Both engines are paired with the second generation 8-speed transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The transmission in the GT-Line is also Kia’s first application of a Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber torque converter which is commonly found in racing engines to help reduce torsional vibrations.

Honda Malaysia is now accepting bookings for the Honda HR-V facelift starting today (12 July 2018) at all its 95 Honda authorised dealers nationwide. The official launch of the facelifted HR-V is expected to be in the third quarter of this year. Launched in 2015, the HR-V has been the best-selling compact SUV in Malaysia for three consecutive years; with over 72,000 units sold as at June 2018. It is also the company’s second best-seller, making up about 16% of total sales.

Scania Malaysia Port Klang, Servicing Area, P410, G410 TrucksScania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has officially launched its upgraded Port Klang outlet to serve its customers around the port area who need to service or repair their vehicles. This branch will also serve to strengthen its sales presence in this region.

This Scania Malaysia Port Klang outlet cost RM3.8 million to upgrade and includes the addition of ten new work bays, making it twenty two in total, in its effort to help Scania customers maximise vehicle uptime. Covering an area of 1,343 square metres, the outlet also includes a washing bay and an overhead crane.

The upgrades also include a customer reception area, cafeteria and drivers’ room, as well as changing rooms, shower rooms and a prayer room to cater to the needs of the drivers and employees.

“For customers to get the most out of their fleet, it is vital that Scania can support them with the right solutions, so convenient access to workshops and genuine parts is crucial for our customers anywhere. Our parts add value to their business because they are engineered for ultimate performance, endurance, fuel economy and safety, as well as lower environmental impact such as reduced carbon emissions,” she added.

The Port Klang service outlet is manned by 22 skilled technicians who can work on up to 30 vehicles a day in the new facility, to reduce vehicle downtime.

According to Marie, Scania is also upgrading its East Malaysia outlets to improve customer service, as well as looking at a setting up a new facility in the southern region in the near future. Further, there are no significant changes to Scania’s objectives and direction subsequent to the revamp of the group, and Scania will continue to maintain its direct presence in Malaysia.

Also in attendance were representatives of the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR), Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), and Universiti Teknologi MARA, as well as Scania customers.
