Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed a collection of Bespoke commission starting with the Cullinan in Rolls-Royce Bright Red. This special Cullinan is one of eight vibrant Cullinans created by the Bespoke Creative at Goodwood, Home of Rolls-Royce.
“We wanted to give our clients the chance to see and be inspired by colours that had been developed previously through the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Design department but may not have seen the light of day through this limited run Bespoke Collection,” said Will Vetter, Product Manager for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Americas.
Colour development is a careful process that requires a careful eye and an immense amount of patience. At the same time, colour is the most outward expression of a commission. Vetter added “When a designer takes cues from the world around us or even a client’s vision, the process to make it into a reality on a Rolls-Royce is complicated, complex with painstaking precision and sometimes unexpected delightful results.”
The ‘Colours of Cullinan Collection’ includes eight Rolls-Royce Cullinans. The first four have been received in the United States led by Cullinan in Rolls-Royce Bright Red. Upcoming commissions come in Paradiso Blue, Dark Olive and Selby Grey. The collection will be completed with the imminent reception of Cullinan finished in Peacock Blue, Bright Green, Forge Yellow and Plum which are currently in the final stages of development and production. Some of these creations are destined for their homes with Rolls-Royce clients in the United States, while some will be used by the brand as examples to inspire even more personal creations. The colour experts of the Design Collective at Goodwood await the collaboration of more clients in developing even more vibrant and personal colours for Rolls-Royce lovers to enjoy.
“When our clients commission a Rolls-Royce motor car, colour is the most outward expressions of their personality. At Rolls-Royce Motor Cars we have more than 44 thousand colours in our working palette and are constantly experimenting with new and creative commissions. Especially as so many of our clientele throughout North America have elected to celebrate their commissions with personal, vibrant, and unique colours and colour combinations, we created this collection to share these emotions and stimulate ideas with luxury lovers everywhere,” said Martin Fritsches, President & CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Americas
As with all Rolls-Royce dealerships, clients can start their own Bespoke commission by visiting their local Rolls-Royce Motor Cars authorised dealership to start their own creative journey.
After a break of 61 years, Aston Martin is making a return to Formula One, the pinnacle of motorsport. Refreshed as the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team, it is bringing British Racing Green back to the tracks.
The team’s new car, AMR21, was launched recently, heralding the beginning of a significant chapter in the 108-year history of the Aston Martin brand. The new Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team car returns the British ultra-luxury marque to the pinnacle of world motorsport for the first time in over 60 years.
Described by Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll as an ‘important event in automotive history’, the AMR21 will be the first works Formula 1 car to carry the famous wings since Maurice Trintignant’s DBR5 crossed the finish line at Silverstone in 1960. The AMR21, to be raced this season by four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel and rising star, Lance Stroll (CA), carries a striking Aston Martin Racing Green livery in recognition of Aston Martin’s traditional racing colours and glorious sporting legacy. It is also bedecked by a host of global partners, led by American IT giant Cognizant. The chassis features a magenta stripe down the side in reference to the team’s longstanding partner, BWT.
As the team is set to become the global showcase for the brand’s engineering and performance capabilities, a new 200,000 square-foot facility will complement the existing Aston Martin F1 factory at Silverstone starting in the second half of 2022. This will help the team to become an innovation lab to drive forward the brand’s future road car technologies, including a suite of mid-engined sportscars, inspired by the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which will become central to the product portfolio through the next decade.
Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, with motorsport at the heart of its endeavour. Next year (2022) will mark a century since Aston Martin made its grand prix debut (in France 1922). The brand has enjoyed sustained success in sports car racing, including overall victory in the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. Most recently Aston Martin became a double class winner with the Vantage GTE in last year’s race at La Sarthe and is the reigning GT FIA World Endurance Manufacturers’ champion.
The Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team also boasts a strong bloodline, building on the foundations of Team Silverstone, which in its various guises has won five grands prix, and is coming off the back of a race-winning campaign as the Racing Point Formula On Team, having been revitalized under the leadership of Lawrence Stroll and Team Principal and CEO Otmar Szafnauer.
The new AMR21 is powered by a Mercedes-AMG F1 M12 E Performance turbocharged engine with hybrid energy recovery. With the new race car also comes the opportunity for Aston Martin to communicate the evolution of the iconic Aston Martin Wings logo for only the 12th time in the company’s 108-year history. The AMR21 will run a full test programme at Bahrain on 12 – 14 March. The car that will run in testing, as well as in the first race, will very likely have different aerodynamic elements to the launch car shown here.
Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda, Lawrence Stroll said: “I’ve dreamed about this day for a very long time. I’ve always been a car guy and I’ve always loved racing, too. My first dream was to own a Formula One team. My second dream was to acquire a significant shareholding in Aston Martin Lagonda. Today is about the merging of those two dreams. So, as I say, today is all about dreams, and it shows that dreams really can come true, in the shape of our new AMR21.
“Aston Martin returning to Formula One after an absence of 61 years will have a powerful effect on the sport, the media and the fans, commanding global attention. “The team who designed and built our new Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One car – the 500 men and women who conceive, manufacture, build and prepare our cars so that we can go racing at the pinnacle of global motorsport – has always punched above its weight. Now, as the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team, it has the power with which to punch even harder.
“This is just the beginning. The team is pushing forward, and our ambitions are limitless. We now have the pieces in place, the people and the partners, to make real progress”.
Chief Executive Officer, Aston Martin Lagonda, Tobias Moers said at the launch: “Today is a truly historic moment for Aston Martin, as we return to the pinnacle of motorsport for the first time in more than 60 years. The Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team will have far-reaching positive effects on the Aston Martin brand, our culture, and the design and technology of Aston Martin road cars. Our return to Formula One will positively and profoundly affect every employee and foremost our customer journey all over the world; and will help us bring a focused, agile Formula One way of thinking to the whole Aston Martin business.
“Indeed, the Formula One team will become a dynamic and exciting innovation lab to drive forward future Aston Martin road car technologies and performance, which will truly differentiate our cars in the coming years. Aston Martin has always made beautiful cars. Now, as we begin a new era of Aston Martin in Formula One, we’ll bring more innovation and more performance.”
The 2021 season for Formula One will begin with the Bahrain Grand Prix on 28 March.
Porsche has launced the Taycan Cross Turismo in a virtual world premiere, expanding its portfolio of all-electric sports cars. As its name implies, the Taycan Cross Turismo is the off-road version of Porsche’s electric sports saloon.
“In 2019, we sent out a key signal with the debut of our first all-electric sports car,” said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. “We see ourselves as pioneers of sustainable mobility: by 2025, half of all the new vehicles we will deliver will have an electrified drive – either fully electric or plug in hybrid. In 2020, one in three of all vehicles we delivered in Europe had an electric powertrain. The future belongs to electric mobility. With the Taycan Cross Turismo, we’re taking another major step in this direction.”
The sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart has built the Taycan Cross Turismo on the new high-tech chassis with all-wheel-drive and adaptive air suspension for added off-road driving dynamics. For its occupants, there is an extra 47 mm of rear headroom. Further, it has more than 1,200 of load capacity accessible via a large tailgate. The Taycan Cross Turismo also benefits from an innovative electric drive with 800-volt architecture.
There are four variants of the Taycan Cross Turismo to satisfy different preferences:
Taycan 4 Cross Turismo with 280 kW (380 PS), overboost power for Launch Control 350 kW (476 PS), acceleration 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, top speed 220 km/h, range (WLTP) 389 – 456 km.
Taycan 4S Cross Turismo with 360 kW (490 PS), overboost power with Launch Control 420 kW (571 PS), acceleration 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, top speed 240 km/h, range (WLTP) 388 – 452 km.
Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo with 460 kW (625 PS), overboost power with Launch Control 500 kW (680 PS), acceleration 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, top speed 250 km/h, range (WLTP) 395 – 452 km.
Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo with 460 kW (625 PS), overboost power with Launch Control 560 kW (761 PS), acceleration 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, top speed 250 km/h, range (WLTP) 388 – 419 km.
* Range was determined in accordance to the new Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP)
The Performance Battery Plus pack, which has a total capacity of 93.4 kWh, is fitted as standard, as are the all-wheel-drive and adaptive air suspension. Available as an option is the Off-road Design package which increases ground clearance by up to 30 mm. This means that the Cross Turismo can also be driven on demanding off-road terrain. The standard “Gravel Mode” improves the suitability of the new model for driving on rough roads.
Mission E Cross Turismo
In terms of appearance, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo closely follows the Mission E Cross Turismo concept study presented at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Its silhouette is defined by the sporty roofline sloping downward to the rear (called a “flyline” by the Porsche designers). Off-road design elements include wheel arch trims, unique front and rear lower aprons and side sills. As part of the Off-road Design package, the Cross Turismo has special flaps at the corners of the front and rear bumpers and at the ends of the sills. These make for a striking exterior as well as providing protection from stone impacts.
One of the accessories developed by Porsche especially for the Taycan Cross Turismo is a rear carrier for up to three bicycles that sets the benchmark in terms of package size and handling. The carrier can be used universally for different types of bikes. One of its innovative features is that the tailgate can be opened even when the rear carrier is loaded. Additionally, Porsche is also presenting two high-quality e-bikes at the same time – the eBike Sport and the eBike Cross. With their timeless design as well as their powerful and sustainable drive technology, they are perfectly matched to the Taycan Cross Turismo.

The Perodua Ativa has just launched in Malaysia, and represents many firsts for the company. This compact SUV is the first turbocharged model, the first with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and the first Level 2 Autonomous Driving features for the brand.
There are three variants available (X, H, and AV) but in six choices mainly due to the paint scheme and finish. The Perodua Ativa 1.0 X is priced at RM61,500 (Metallic), while the Ativa 1.0 H has two choices i.e. RM66,100 (Metallic) & RM66,600 (Special Metallic), and the range topper Ativa 1.0 AV has three choices i.e. RM71,200 (Metallic), RM71,700 (Special Metallic) & RM72,000 (Two-Tone Special Metallic i.e. with Black Roof).
These official prices are on-the-road without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia, inclusive of the Penjana sales tax exemption until 30 June 2021. These prices are also lower than the earlier estimates of RM62,500 to RM73,400.
“The Perodua Ativa’s competitive pricing was made possible by its 95% localisation rate – the highest initial local content rate for any Perodua model. Even the engine and transmission are locally manufactured,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
According to Dato’ Zainal, the Perodua Ativa is the result of the first truly smart partnership between Perodua and its technical and technology partner Daihatsu.
“The Perodua Ativa was developed on a global platform as Perodua and Daihatsu pooled resources to offer the most competitive model we can produce,” he said.
The Perodua Ativa is significant as it brings Perodua’s collaboration with Daihatsu to a new level and allows Perodua and its suppliers to commonise components and processes for maximum cost efficiency. “This was all done without sacrificing our unique Malaysian design, features and tastes,” he added.
“Our involvement with the Ativa began from the drawing board – 54 of our designers and engineers worked with Daihatsu on this model since 2018. This close collaboration allowed us to include the Malaysian automotive ecosystem in the development of this model, and the suppliers rose to the challenge and were able to reduce their costs,” he explained.
The five-seater Perodua Ativa is powered by a 1.0L turbo engine with dual injection technology paired with a 7-speed D-CVT. This powertrain produces 72 kW and 140 Nm of torque. Its rated average fuel consumption is 18.9 km/l (with Eco Idle).
Also debuting with the Perodua Ativa is the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA*) 3.0 which is available across an entire model range for the first time. ASA 3.0 is effective at higher speeds i.e. up to 120 km/h for vehicles and 60 km/h for pedestrians. It can also detect two-wheeled vehicles as well as function at night. The Ativa is currently the most affordable vehicle in Malaysia to offer Level 2 Autonomous Driving features.
The safety system consists of Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert, Pedal Misoperation Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Control, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The latter four functions are available only in the AV variant.
Perodua Ativa AV
Additionally, all variants come with six airbags, and rear corner sensors, while only the H and AV add on front corner sensors and reverse camera. Other standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Control, Emergency Stop Signal, Hill Hold Assist, and Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist. The top two variants also get adaptive driving beam LED headlights while the base X gets auto high beam LED headlights. In the H and AV variants are also a 7″ TFT multi-info display and a 9″ touchscreen infotainment system with Smart Link and voice recognition.
With the Ativa joining the Perodua family, the carmaker expects to buy a total of RM6.5 billion worth of components from Malaysian suppliers this year. “We thank the Malaysian Government for acknowledging our contributions to the ecosystem and for their support,” said Dato’ Zainal.
“We have so far received some 5,000 bookings for the Perodua Ativa since we began collecting orders on 19 February. We thank the public very much for their support. Deliveries will begin tomorrow (4 March), and we aim to deliver an average of 3,000 units a month,” said Dato’ Zainal.
The exterior colour choices are:
Ativa X – Metallic colours: Glittering Silver/Granite Grey/Cobalt Blue
Ativa H – Metallic colours: Glittering Silver/Granite Grey/Cobalt Blue
Ativa H – Special Metallic colours: Pearl Diamond White/Pearl Delima Red
Ativa AV – Metallic colours: Glittering Silver/Granite Grey
Ativa AV – Special Metallic colours: Pearl Diamond White/Pearl Delima Red
Ativa AV – Two-Tone Special Metallic colours: Pearl Diamond White/Pearl Delima Red
The Perodua Ativa is now in all authorised Perodua showrooms.
*ASA is a driver assistance system that helps to reduce the risk of collisions and is by no means a substitute for safe driving. Always be alert and cautious behind the wheel.

After a year’s hiatus, Malaysian motorsports fans will be able to witness local motor racing with the start of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival. After some delay, Round 1 Season 4 of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival will take place at the Sepang International Circuit from 27 – 28 March 2021.
The first Vios Challenge race of the season however, will be a closed-door event. The festival will be conforming to strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) and will operate in a sports bubble as a health and safety precaution. Racing fans however, will be able to catch the live stream of this racing carnival.
The Vios Challenge will consist of four classes of racing which includes the inaugural running of the Rookie Class featuring six new graduates of the Gazoo Racing Young Talent Development Program who are stepping up from karting and simulator to racing in a saloon car for their very first time. The Promotional Class will field local celebrities, three of whom are new faces; while the Sporting Class for charging amateur drivers; and the Super Sporting Class for elite and professional drivers.
The two-day festival is being planned as the biggest live streaming racing carnival in Malaysia. As a meticulously-curated live streamed event, viewers will get front row seats at the Vios Challenge race weekend. The live stream will showcase three qualifying sessions, six exciting individual races, pit lane insights, interviews with racers, a celebrity-studded performance and other exciting content. There will also be opportunities to win attractive prizes.
“It’s exciting to be back racing, but as much as we would like to immediately open our doors to race fans for them to be on site, the threat of the pandemic has offered up a new and perhaps an even more promising way of enabling millions of race fans to catch the action on and off the track during the race weekend via live streaming and in the comfort and safety of their homes,” said UMW Toyota Deputy Chairman and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Malaysia’s Chief Motorsport Officer Akio Takeyama.
Akio Takeyama with Shukri Yahaya
“The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival has primarily been about bringing motorsports to the masses – this focus has not changed – and to a great extent, we have successfully accomplished this by bringing the races to so many different locations since 2017. The opportunity to live stream the carnival and an entire race weekend would mean reaching out to an even larger and wider audience, including racing fans outside of Malaysia. The challenge before us today is to bring the energy and atmosphere of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival online.”
In the Promotional Class, actor Shukri Yahaya will lead the star-studded line-up and will be joined by actress Janna Nick, presenter Nabil Ahmad and singers Wany Hasrita, Nabila Razali and Khai Bahar. They will be joined by three newcomers, actor Zizan Razak, singer/song writer Talitha Tan and television personality Ahirene Ahirudin.
Last season’s Promotional Class champion Shawn Lee meanwhile, makes his fourth consecutive season appearance but this time rejoining as a privateer in the Sporting Class for amateur drivers after earning a class promotion. It will be Lee’s second stint in the competitive class having won the Promotional Class in Season 1, moving up to Sporting Class in Season 2 and returning to win his second Promotional Class title in Season 3.
Names to look out for include last season’s runner-up and Dream Chaser driver Bradley Benedict Anthony, Season 3’s second runner-up Haji Sutan Mustaffa, and a long list of race winners and podium contenders who include Kenneth Koh, Adam Khalid, Dato’ Dr Ken Foo, Lim Chun Beng, Tom Goh, Mirza Syahmi and Dannies Ng.
Meanwhile, the Sporting Class will field a total of 19 drivers gunning for the prospect of being crowned the new champion in Season 4. In the intensely competitive Super Sporting Class, two-time Vios Challenge champion and recently minted TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Ambassador Tengku Djan Ley returns to the grid to defend his title.
Last season’s Sporting Class champion and the youngest ever winner of the Vios Challenge, 16 year-old Hayden Haikal meanwhile, has also earned a promotion into the Super Sporting Class and the chance to prove himself worthy against a grid of 11 professional racers.
Other contenders in the class to look out for will be Season 2 champion Boy Wong, last season’s runner-up Mark Darwin, last season’s second runner-up Freddie Ang, and big names the likes of accomplished racers William Ho, Kenny Lee, Keifli Othman, Syafiq Ali and former Sporting Class champion Brendan Paul Anthony.
Also sharing the grid with the professionals but classified in a separate class of their own will be the six new young drivers in the Rookie Class. They are simulator racers Mika Hakimi, 17 and Naquib Azlan, 20; and karters Amer Harris, 17; Jwan Hii, 18; Putera Adam, 14; and Troy Eimann, 16.
“This (the Rookie Class) is another exciting new element in Season 4, and something that all of us at Toyota are looking forward to seeing.
