Petronas_Logo_StationPETRONAS has introduced Gentari Sdn Bhd, its wholly owned subsidiary tasked with accelerating the adoption and commercialisation of clean energy. Formerly known as PETRONAS Gas & New Energy Sdn Bhd, the revamped entity aims to deliver a suite of renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility solutions that are safe, responsible, cost-optimised, and emissions-abated. This is done by applying an integrated approach across the clean energy value chain for customers globally.

“GENTARI will offer cleaner energy solutions to meet the energy needs and lower carbon aspirations of Malaysia and its customers at home and abroad. With a dedicated team focusing on the supply, distribution, and retail of cleaner energy, we aim to capture opportunities in the low carbon energy space by providing affordable and accessible solutions and systems by enabling scale of production and infrastructure availability,” said Chairman of GENTARI, Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik.

We look forward to meeting the energy requirements of today and the future with cleaner energy solutions that fuel progress in a just and sustainable manner.”Gentari_2030 Goals

GENTARI aspires to, by 2030:

  • build a renewable energy capacity of 30-40 GW, specifically in solar with added opportunities in wind and battery storage;
  • supply up to 1.2 mtpa (million tonnes per annum) of hydrogen by leveraging competencies in developing large projects to achieve scale as a low carbon hydrogen producer beginning with projects in Malaysia; and
  • become a preferred green mobility solutions provider, supporting the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem by capturing 10% market share (circa 25,000 charging points based on current estimates) across key markets in Asia Pacific with an anchored presence in Malaysia and India

Moreover, GENTARI will be accorded the independence to focus on innovating and delivering clean energy solutions, while seeking financing opportunities to grow the business faster to meet existing demands and explore emerging energy technologies.

“GENTARI” comes from the shortened combination of ‘generation’, or ‘to generate’ (English) and ‘lestari’ which means ’sustainable’ in Bahasa Malaysia. Together the words capture the essence of GENTARI’s purpose to provide the world with sustainably generated and responsibly sourced energy that allows society to change how it lives today and progress into the future.

The company’s clean energy assets and projects today include:

  • over 1 GWp (gigawatts peak) of solar capacity in India and Malaysia;

With already available solutions in its portfolio, GENTARI is committed to making the journey to net zero more feasible for its customers, while growing the overall market for clean energy by investing and innovating with like-minded partners to achieve greater results.

The Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain has been given some convenience updates with the new features aimed to further enhance user comfort. This flagship pick-up truck had bagged 5 ‘Pick-up Truck of the Year’ titles since its debut a year ago, and continues to prove to be as one of the most capable, versatile and sophisticated trucks in the market today.Isuzu D-Max_X-Terrain_Front_Rear

The new enhancements are chiefly felt or seen in the interior. The D-Max X-Terrain now includes an Around-View Monitor to provide the driver with a 360˚ view of the truck’s surroundings. This feature not only offers a bird’s eye view when the reverse gear is selected, but also features a selectable 3D guide within the 9” central infotainment display to aid in precise parking.

Another new feature close to this is the Qi wireless charging base that sits in the receptacle in the centre console, ahead of the gear selector. This base offers convenient wireless charging for compatible phones while allowing you to enjoy uninterrupted Bluetooth connectivity for music or navigation without draining your phone’s battery.

According to Isuzu, the welcome light is another popular customer request. As such, a set of LED lamps have been included under the vehicle to help illuminate the surrounding foot areas when the doors are unlocked. When used in tandem with the follow-me home lights, the D-Max X-Terrain provides convenient and safe illumination in dark areas.

Furthermore, this is complemented by a set of illuminated scuff plates. These not only help to protect the sills from minor scratches, it also adds touch of style to the D-Max.

For the exterior, it stays largely the same save for the added cameras for the Around-View feature. The biggest change is the inclusion of the Silky Pearl White and Onyx Black exterior colours to the X-Terrain’s option. With this change, the Sapphire Blue colour option has been omitted. However, the popular Valencia Orange is still available.

“The new-generation Isuzu D-Max remains our source of pride as it bridges the gap between how pick-up trucks should perform and what customers desire. The flagship D-Max X-Terrain in particular sought to ensure customers enjoyed some truly stand-out features that make their motoring safer and more pleasurable,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer Shunsuke Okazoe.

Isuzu_D-Max_Interior_Seats“The popularity of the Isuzu D-Max range, particularly the X-Terrain variant remains healthy with many first-time owners reveling in life with a modern pick-up truck. Its inspiring safety, comfort and go-anywhere, do-anything versatility has led to a gradual migration of saloon car owners. I believe that with these new added features and colour choices, the D-Max X-Terrain will continue to appeal to many more who will be tempted to convert,” added Chief Operating Officer Kenkichi Sogo.

To recap, the D-Max X-Terrain is built on the new Isuzu Dynamic Drive Platform and powered by a 3.0L Blue Power turbo diesel engine with 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque @ 1,600 – 2,600 rpm. This is paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission which matches the shifts to the engine’s performance characteristics to give it a more relaxed performance.

Other notable features exclusive to the X-Terrain include remote engine start, rear differential lock, wet wiper system, brown leather seats with 8-way electronic adjustment including lumbar support, infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, as well as Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS). The ADAS features include Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Turn Assist, Pedal Misapplication Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop & go function, Automatic High Beam (AHB), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Manual Speed Limiter (MSL) and Multi-Collision Brake which applies the brakes should any of the 7 airbags deploy.

The updated Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain is available for booking immediately at all authorised Isuzu showrooms. Deliveries are expected to start in mid-July. The updated Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain sees a slight increase in its retail price. On-the-road price without insurance is now RM146,938.40 (Peninsular Malaysia), RM148,561.10 (Sabah) and RM148,330.70 (Sarawak).

MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN Malaysia) has delivered the first batch of its New MAN Truck Generation vehicles to a pioneer group of customers. A total of 7 trucks, each locally assembled in Serendah and powered by low emission engines that comply with Euro 5 standards, were handed over to 6 transport companies. Incidentally, 2 of these companies are first-time customers of MAN Malaysia.

MAN Malaysia_Managing Director_Andrew O'BrooksAt an event held to celebrate this handover, MAN Malaysia Managing Director Andrew O’Brooks thanked the customers for joining the sustainability journey with MAN. “In November 2021, MAN became the first truck manufacturer in Malaysia to offer Euro V engines as standard across its entire product portfolio.  It was a bold move as we were challenging Malaysian transporters to join the journey and take the lead in reducing carbon emissions,” he said.

“To our delight, they took up the challenge.  Market response has been overwhelming. This clearly demonstrates that transporters in Malaysia are more than willing to do their part as the nation aims for carbon neutral status by 2050.  They know that with our New MAN Truck Generation, they can attain both profitability and sustainability,” he added.Pioneer Customers_New MAN Truck Generation with Euro V Engines_MAN Malaysia

LTS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd is part of the Penang-based Lee Ting San Group which is one of the largest trucking companies in Malaysia. It received from MAN the 360 hp New MAN TGS 4×2 that would be used for short haul transportation trips.

Meanwhile, Sim Aik Chan Trading Sdn Bhd is now the proud owner of a 540 hp New MAN TGS 6×4. With its robust chassis and powerful yet economical engine, this latest addition to its fleet will be more than capable of handling the heavy-duty task of transporting construction material all over the country.

Additionally, global integrated logistics solution provider, Sea Hawk Global Lines Sdn Bhd, received the keys to 2 trucks i.e. the 540 hp New MAN TGX 6×4 flagship model that was the star attraction at the recent Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2022, and a 440 hp MAN TGS 6×2.

With their fuel efficient ‘green’ engines, both the New MAN Trucks will help Sea Hawk expand its transportation services to the oil and gas sector where Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) compliance is mandatory.MAN Malaysia_New MAN Truck Generation_Euro 5 Engine

For first-time MAN customer, container specialist Timur Permai Haulage Sdn Bhd received its preferred choice of a 440 hp New MAN TGS 6×2 as it is the perfect solution for the company’s container haulage requirements.

Another first-time MAN customer, Rani Transport Sdn Bhd, took delivery of a 360 hp New MAN TGS 4×2 with ADR (Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) specifications which is ideal for transporting chemicals to hard-to-access water treatment plants around the country.

Meanwhile, Globonus Sdn Bhd also opted for an ADR specification New MAN Truck Generation. The logistics solution provider chose a 440 hp New MAN TGS 6×2 which meets its requirements as a key vendor to a multinational oil and gas company.

The New MAN Truck Generation not only comes standard with Euro 5-compliant engines, but is an all-new product range that leads the way in driver orientation, fuel efficiency, assistance systems, digital networking and above all, sustainability.

Nissan_Showroom_Service CentreETCM is encouraging buyers to make their booking early (with a minimum amount of just RM1,000) in order to secure a vehicle in the system. Doing so will also help the assembly plant to schedule production more effectively and minimise waiting time as disruptions continue due to microprocessor shortages and global shipment delays.

For the “Early Bird” bookings, ETCM is offering more savings when they become owners. ETCM will offer free Maintenance Services (inclusive of Parts & Labour) at alternate intervals (i.e. 10,000 km, 30,000 km, 50,000 km, 70,000 km and 90,000 km), and up to 5 years’ warranty period, with unlimited mileage. Safety is provided by Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) which consists of a suite of advanced technologies with both Active Safety and Passive Safety systems. 5 smart intelligent technologies have been added to the new Serena S-Hybrid to enhance Active Safety. The suite now includes Intelligent Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Forward Collision Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Nissan’s renowned Around View Monitor (360 camera) is standard equipment too.

The new Serena S-Hybrid continues to be powered by a 2.0L Twin CVTC hybrid drivetrain. Its ECO (Energy Control Motor) electric motor provides torque assistance on take-off, thus reducing demand on the petrol engine and helping to improve fuel efficiency. This provides the Serena with the benefit of a hybrid powertrain without the associated high costs.

Have you checked the expiry of your driving license? The various lockdowns in the past 2 years had caused much disruption to the civil service, and the Road Transport Department / Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan was not spared. As a result, the government had issued a moratorium that allowed for the delay of driving license renewals to ease the administrative backlog.

Car_Police_RoadblockThis moratorium however, expired on 31 December 2021 and everyone with an expired driving license is expected to renew them. But according to the department, a significant number have yet to renew their expired licenses. As such, the RTD / JPJ is giving these license holders up to 30 June 2022 to sort this out. Subsequently, any license not renewed will be revoked.

Furthermore, if you are caught this month driving with an expired license, you will be issued a summons for driving without a valid license. After 30 June 2022, you will attract a fine as well as have your license revoked if it has expired beyond the allowed timeframe determined by RTD / JPJ.

Malaysia_Driving License_SampleThe types of driving licenses involved include the CDL (Competent Driving License), GDL (Goods Driving License), PSV (Public Service Vehicle), LDL (Learner’s Driving License) and PDL (Probationary Driving License). PDLs that have lapsed for more than a year will be considered invalid; likewise for LDLs that have lapsed for 2 years. For the CDLs, GDLs and PSVs, it is 3 years. Breach these timelines and your license will be revoked and you will have to start again from scratch, going through the full process of getting a driving license.

If you do not wish to re-live that part of your youth then you are strongly encouraged to get the renewal done before the month ends. You have the option of renewing at a RTD / JPJ branch, post office or online via MyEG, depending on the type of license.Driving License_Renewal_Malaysia
