Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), which is the sole distributor for Ford in Malaysia, has gone a step further in offering enhanced customer service experience with its digital service appointments. The SDAC-Ford online booking tool has been expanded to manage and confirm vehicle service appointments in real-time via the Ford website.

The real-time e-Service appointment booking is currently available at seven authorised Ford Service Centres across the country i.e. Ford Ara Damansara, Ford Petaling Jaya 2, Ford Juru, Ford Butterworth, Ford Kuching, Ford Kota Kinabalu and Ford Tawau. Plans are in place to extend this to all Ford dealers.

Ducati Corse, the motorcycle racing team division of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. has announced software solutions and data analytics provider, Altair, as a technical partner. Both parties had recently entered into a multi-year technical partnership agreement.

About a month into its launch, the Honda BR-V facelift is showing good sales momentum. According to Honda Malaysia, the new BR-V has recorded more than 1,400 bookings. The majority of the bookings naturally were made in the Central region (42%). And true to Malaysian preference, the range-topping V variant made up 85% of total bookings. Meanwhile, Modern Steel Metallic seems to be the crowd favourite with 24% of bookings for this exterior colour.

The Honda BR-V was first launched in Malaysia in 2017. Honda has since sold over 32,600 units of this 7-seater MPV.

Honda BR-V_Cabin_Dashboard“Last month, Honda Malaysia announced the price reduction for Honda cars following the announcement of sales tax exemption by the Malaysian Government, in which the price of the new BR-V was lowered. To recap, parts new in the BR-V facelift includes the front grille, front bumper with lower bumper garnish, front fog light garnish as well as 16″ dual-tone alloy wheel design. At the rear, there is a new shark fin antenna as well as new rear bumper with lower bumper garnish.

Honda BR-V_Cargo SpaceThe BR-V continues to be powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC engine paired with a CVT. The 120 PS output is the highest in its class. In terms of space, the BR-V is a 7-seater crossover-style vehicle with 223 litres of cargo space (all seats up). Cargo volume expands to 539 litres when the third row seats are folded down.

Interior-wise, the V variant comes with new leather seats with red finishing. The V variant also has paddle shifters for a sportier touch.

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia is offering the Jaguar F-PACE in limited numbers. The limited edition F-PACE comes with the new 2.0L Ingenium turbo petrol engine. There are three variants available i.e. F-PACE Prestige (base), R-Sport (Mid-Spec) and R-Sport (Hi-Spec). And there are only 20 units available for sale.

Jaguar_Ingenium EngineThe F-PACE is Jaguar’s best-selling performance SUV. The new Ingenium engine happens to be Jaguar’s most powerful 2.0L engine in production. The engine incorporates advanced technology with an all-aluminium construction to provide a balance of power and fuel economy. This turbocharged engine puts out 300 PS @ 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Included too is a state-of-the-art pendulum damper in the torque  converter that effectively absorbs low frequency vibrations. This results in a refined feel of the engine at lower speeds.

The Configurable Dynamics mode is standard on the R-Sport variants and allows you to choose between ‘Normal’ and ‘Sports’ settings for throttle response, gearbox and steering. volkswagen passatVolkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has announced a recall of eight models for a gearbox related issue. The voluntary recall affects the Beetle, Cross Touran, Golf (Mk 6 & Mk 7), Jetta, Passat (B7), Passat CC, Polo (6R) and Scirocco, produced between 2011 and 2015. Owners of these models are requested to bring their vehicles in for inspection.

 

Volkswagen Voluntary Recall Campaign_Hydraulic Pressure AccumulatorThe recall is done to rectify the hydraulic pressure accumulator within the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox caused by a production deviation. A total of 12,732 Volkswagen vehicles are affected by this move. This exercise does not affect Volkswagen models produced from 2016 onwards.

In certain cases, the failure of the component can possibly lead to pressure loss, interrupting power transmission between the engine and gearbox.

The nationwide recall campaign will be executed in phases in order to manage the number of cases. Notification to identified owners will be conducted by mail with immediate effect. VW owners are also encouraged to check in the Volkswagen website’s service page if their vehicle is involved. Alternatively, you can call Volkswagen customer care at 1800-18-8947 for further information.

Owners can then contact any authorised Volkswagen service centre to book an appointment and have their vehicle inspected and parts replaced, if necessary. VPCM has taken the necessary steps with its dealer partners to ensure parts availability and that the exercise is conducted smoothly and efficiently.

All labour and replacement parts for this service will be at no cost to owners.

Malaysian Cub Prix Championship_Castrol POWER1Tracing its roots back to 1994, the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship is an annual national-level motorcycle racing series for small displacements of between 100 cc to 150 cc. The championship started off as a grassroots movement to develop professional motorcycle racing in Malaysia, and today provides a platform for discovering and developing local motorcycle racing talents. The WIRA category was introduced in 2002 and is a racing class for riders between 13 – 17 years old.

This latest initiative is part of a continuation of Castrol’s research & development efforts of using racing sponsorships to push boundaries and improve its products.
