The new Jaguar XE is now available in Malaysia. Coming only in the R-Dynamic variant, the Jaguar XE starts at RM395,831.02 (for Peninsular Malaysia excluding road tax and insurance). This price currently includes the 50% sales tax waiver under the PENJANA economic stimulus plan.

Jaguar XE_ExteriorThe Jaguar XE comes with an updated exterior design, and an all-new luxurious interior, along with upgrades in technology. The XE’s exterior design has been enhanced with new graphical elements. Its performance-orientated character is complemented by sporty design elements such as the sculpted surfaces inspired by aircraft winglet, dark mesh detailing in the rear valance and new 18” wheel design. The body also appears wider and lower than before, with larger front apertures, bold graphics and muscular forms that hint at the car’s performance.

Jaguar XE_RearThe front wears new LED headlights with a striking ‘J’ blade daytime running light while the rear features a new bumper design and slender LED tail lights with updated signature graphics to accentuate the visual width of the car.

Inside, the XE is fitted with sports-style seats with contrast stitching, satin chrome shift paddles and R-Dynamic tread plates. The beautifully crafted interior extensively uses soft-touch materials and premium veneers. Even the door trims are redesigned for improved usability and practicality.

The new steering wheel is shared with the all-electric I-PACE, and features hidden-until-lit graphics and tactile switches for intuitive control of key functions. Complementing this is the latest generation 12.3″ Interactive Driver Display instrument cluster where all the important information you need is logically and intuitively displayed to minimise distraction.

Jaguar XE_Cockpit_Steering WheelThe refreshed XE is also the smartest and most connected of Jaguar’s sedans with the inclusion of the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which offers instinctive control through a pair of integrated high-resolution touchscreens. All the key systems are available at the driver’s fingertips, via intuitive rotary dials, and displayed over a pair of HD touchscreens.

Connectivity has also been enhanced for the XE with the introduction of a Smartphone Pack with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The system mirrors the driver’s smartphone on the 10″ touchscreen, allowing access to compatible apps quickly, easily, and safely.

Jaguar XE_Cabin_InteriorThe smaller 5.5” touchscreen located below the 10″ screen can be used to adjust settings such as climate control without disrupting the upper screen. Its intuitive capacitive switches ensure that you can change settings without too much distraction from driving.

Further, Artificial Intelligence is a key feature in this XE. With Smart Settings, the XE can recognise and learn the preferences of drivers and automatically adjust the seating and steering column according to their preferred positions. Over time, it will also learn a driver’s climate control and music listening preferences, and even cue the most popular phone contacts at different times.

Performance-wise, the XE is powered by Jaguar’s Ingenium P300 engine which produces 300 PS @ 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,500 – 4,500 rpm; top speed is rated at 250 km/h. The engine is paired with the ZF 8HP45 eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth gearshifts and outstanding response. Of note is the torque converter which features a state-of-the-art pendulum damper that effectively absorbs low frequency vibrations, thus enabling the engine to feel more refined when run at lower speeds.

Additionally, the Jaguar Drive Control allows you to select different drive modes i.e. Comfort, Eco, Dynamic, and Rain, Ice, Snow. Each mode has its own tailored programming which determines different parameters such as engine and transmission response, steering feel, parasitic load management, traction and stability control.

In terms of safety tech, its Driver Condition Monitoring measures steering, throttle and brake inputs, analyses lane departure and the driver’s use of directional indicators. If the system’s algorithms determine that the
driver is drowsy, a coffee cup symbol will show up in the instrument cluster to warn the driver to take a break.

The Jaguar XE is available for test drives. You can register your interest at the Book a Jaguar Test Drive link, or just visit any Jaguar Land Rover showroom to view.

Grab has expanded its GrabCar, GrabFood and GrabMart services to more areas in Malaysia to empower more local communities. This round, its expansion exercise covers more rural cities and townships in the Southern and Northern regions of Malaysia, putting areas like Mersing, Segamat, Cameron Highlands, Pantai Remis and Baling in its list.

L-R: Ebi Azly Abdullah, Head, Public & Government Affairs, Grab Malaysia; YB Datuk Dr. Abd Latiff Ahmad, Minister of Rural Development; YB Tuan Puan Hjh Alwiyah Bt Haji Taib; and Johor-based Grab Driver Azman Bin Sulaiman.

This announcement was made at the Desamall@Mersing launch, officiated by Minister of Rural Development, Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Hj. Abd Latiff Ahmad. The expansion is part of homegrown Grab’s ongoing journey to not only cater to the daily needs of Malaysians but to also help create further income opportunities for gig workers and businesses, as well as to strike a balance for a more sustainable industry.

According to Grab Malaysia, the GrabCar service will be available in Mersing and Segamat at the end of September 2020. The GrabFood and GrabMart services (both of which are cashless, via GrabPay) are planned for a fourth quarter launch. Meanwhile in the Northern region, Grab will be covering Cameron Highlands, Pantai Remis and Baling.

This is part Grab’s initiative to spread economic activity via digital services to boost rural communities, where the median income is 41% less than the urban areas (according to the Household Income & Basic Amenities Survey Report 2019, Department of Statistics Malaysia).

Grab Malaysia_Services“As a proponent of the digital economy, we are proud to bring our technology to these communities to provide Malaysians with more safe, reliable and affordable solutions. At the same time, we are creating more income opportunities across our wide ecosystem of services that includes transport, food and mart especially in the rural areas. With this expansion, we also look forward to working with local councils and partners to further support the economic activities in these areas, so they are empowered to thrive in the digital economy” said Ben Chin, Head of Outer Cities, Grab Malaysia.

Additionally, Grab has also extended its “Pakej Pikul Bersama” initiative to include new driver-partners on the platform by providing a one-off reimbursement of up to RM120 for PSV licenses, and RM 70 for initial PUSPAKOM vehicle inspections. The “Pakej Pikul Bersama” initiative is designed to help driver-partners get comply with the regulations announced by the Ministry of Transport in 2019.

Grab_ServicesGrab has a belief that no one should be left behind economically. Currently, 1 in 70 persons in Southeast Asia earns an income through the Grab platform. In Malaysia, Grab is aiming to play a bigger role in supporting and creating more income opportunities across the country. Grab has implemented a first-of-its-kind benefits programme for Malaysia’s gig economy to help partners across the ecosystem improve their welfare. Moving forward, the introduction of other Grab services such as GrabFood and GrabMart in the coming months will further help increase business and income opportunities across the country.

Grab’s network expansion follows the government’s vision for the nation to embrace the digital economy and provide opportunities to Malaysians through technology and innovation. The expansion of GrabFood and GrabMart into these additional cities and townships aims to provide an additional avenue for businesses to expand their customer base by tapping on the millions of Grab users. Grab will work closely with the rural entrepreneurs by collaborating on customised promotional campaigns and strategy, helping them to grow their business on the platform.

“We hope that these expansion initiatives will help ensure a fair and inclusive gig economy while realising our nation’s vision for a more robust digital economy in the new normal” concluded Ben.

Lexus_LED Headlight_DRLAs a premium brand, Lexus is recognisable for more than its signature spindle grille, or its distinct L-shaped daytime running lights, or even its amazing LFA performance car, which 9 years after its production ended is still seeing demand. LFA owners tend to keep it for the long term, a solid testament to what the brand has managed to build. The Lexus brand has developed into one with a fine reputation for crafted detail, and practical reliability and engineering. It has managed to merge functionality with premium styling and refinement.

Lexus_Malaysia_SUVWith the expertise gained over the years, Lexus has conceived a family of SUVs to cater to different preferences and occasions. From the trendy to business class plushness to a flagship carrier for the family, Lexus serves each purpose in deluxe comfort. Its SUVs benefit from having improved visibility and versatility coupled with the refinement and comfort found in its sedans.

Starting with the most compact of the lot, the Lexus UX aims to stir up the game for its segment. The UX is designed and built from the ground up with a new platform that offers drivers the attributes and versatility of an SUV with the sleek and elegant styling of a hatchback.Lexus UX

Because of this, it differs from its bigger siblings, carving out its own identity. For example, its illuminated vent controls are a world’s first – lighting the air vents wirelessly via electromagnetic resonance. Furthermore, its cabin bears the hallmark of Japanese artistry and hospitality. From the use of Washi paper-inspired finish on trim to the Sashiko quilting on the upholstery, the UX exhibits the fine work of skilled Takumi craftsmen.

More than just style, the UX bears substance in practicality, like audio switches positioned at the base of the palm rest for more intuitive usability, a pop-up accessory socket that is only visible when needed, and its ‘Seat-in-Control’ concept adapted from the LC 500 Coupe for an exceptional driving experience.

Lexus UX_Rear LED Aero Stabilising Blade LightsThe UX is built for urban driving, with its neat dimensions enabling easy parking and manouevring. The rigours of city roads are easily dispatched with by the refined suspension to offer its occupants a comfortable ride.

Outwardly, the Lexus UX’s design marries looks with function. For example, the rear LED Aero Stabilising Blade lights double as a spoiler to improve aerodynamics. It also boasts of a newly-developed 2.0L normally aspirated engine and a 10-speed Direct-Shift CVT transmission to provide dynamic response and better fuel efficiency.

Lexus NXThe UX’s larger sibling, the NX, is another urban warrior, developed around the core concept of ‘Premium Urban Sport Gear’. This luxurious SUV is a next-generation Lexus that is designed to meet the mobility demands of city dwellers in a refined packaged equipped with advanced technologies.

Its sophisticated styling is matched by its turbocharged driving performance, with several driving modes to keep with the driver’s preference. The G-force Artificial Intelligence system ensures the optimum gear is engaged while the Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel-drive system ensures handling stability without sacrificing fuel efficiency. The sportier NX F SPORT variant further gets the addition of a Sport S+ mode for even more dynamic driving, as well as the Adaptive Variable Suspension.Lexus NX_Side View

Lexus_Cockpit_Human Machine InterfaceMoreover, the interior features an optimised Human-Machine Interface, with switches and controls within easy reach for greater intuitive interaction. The ‘command centre’ for the NX is the centre area of the dashboard where an 8-inch display panel is featured prominently. Meanwhile, the Remote Touch Interface (RTI) has also evolved to become even more intuitive and user-friendly.

Similar to the UX, the NX is a practical vehicle. Both deliver on the ease of entry and exit for its occupants. The cargo areas are also devised purposefully for easy loading and convenient storage, whether it be golf bags or shopping bags.

Moving up the hierarchy one will find the RX and LX. The RX is a core model for Lexus. As one of the most popular SUVs in the market, its impact on the luxury SUV segment is undeniable. The RX represents Lexus’ promise of delivering finely crafted, imaginative, and luxurious performance-driven vehicles to discerning drivers who expect a refined and pleasurable drive.Lexus RX_Rear

Lexus RXOccupants are spoiled with plush seats upholstered in semi-aniline leather which shows off the hide’s natural surface. Other creature comforts include reclining rear seats, a multimedia touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, USB ports in the front and rear, as well as wireless charging to keep you on the go.

For safety, the RX is fitted with the world’s first BladeScan-type Adaptive High Beam System, which produces a wider illumination area to allow the driver to maintain the headlamps on high beam mode, without dazzling oncoming or preceding vehicles.

If you desire more – more luxury, more space, more power, the flagship Lexus LX may be the one. Its luxurious cabin is built to offer a plush environment where you can find solace. Armed with a 19-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, seat back-mounted 11.6-inch screens, a cooler in the central console, as well as powered and ventilated rear seats, the LX provides an escape from the hustle.

Speaking of which, the LX is capable of its own hustling. Its powerful V8 engine is able to take you places quickly. The four-wheel-drive system also means you can dispatch with some quick off-roading, particularly with its Adaptive Variable Suspension and off-road modes such as Active Height Control, Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control. There is even a Multi-Terrain Monitor with which the LX occupants can view the surrounding conditions from the comfort of their air-cooled seats.Lexus LX 570_Off Road

Additionally, this full-size 8-seater SUV is capable of keeping your family safe on the road, with the inclusion of Lexus Safety System+. Among the standard features are Pre-Collision System, that determines if a frontal collision is imminent and will initiate evasive braking action; Dynamic Radar Cruise Control; Lane Departure Alert; and the Adaptive High Beam System which precisely controls the headlights’ LEDs for exceptional night-time visibility without distracting other drivers.

Now, on to the car. The all-new Almera Turbo sports a new exterior design from Nissan. The V-motion front grille is the brand’s new signature, while the boomerang motif of the headlamps, distinct LED tail lamps, and a low profile ‘floating roof’ make the new car look edgier and more dynamic.

The new Almera sits on a longer 2,620 mm wheelbase (+20 mm), which allows the car to be longer (+70 mm) and wider (+45 mm) to offer more interior space which the previous Almera was already known for. Despite its size expansion, its height has been reduced by 40 mm, giving it a sleeker and more proportioned look.

Nissan Almera Turbo_Boot_Cargo SpaceIts 482 litre trunk space is not the largest in its class but has been designed to be lower and wider for easier access. It is generous enough to fit in four golf bags. Most notably, the rear seats of the Almera Turbo have 60:40 split folding across all variants (which is not common in this segment) so every variant can be used to carry extra long items.

The Almera Turbo’s interior features the latest ‘Gliding Wing’ instrument panel surrounded by chrome, piano black and carbon fibre pattern textures for a more premium ambience. The sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel is also seen across all variants. While we are on the subject of ‘standard’, here are some notable standard features for the Almera Turbo:

  • Keyless entry and start
  • Tilt & telescoping steering
  • Powered folding side mirrors with LED signal light
  • Body coloured rear diffuser
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control System, Anti-lock Braking System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution
  • Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
  • Forward Emergency Braking

Nissan Almera Turbo_1.0 Litre EngineAnother departure from its segment rivals is the use of an all-new 1.0L turbo engine. This is paired with a next-generation XTRONIC CVT with D-Step Logic System and Sport mode to provide 100 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 152 Nm of torque @ 2,400 – 4,000 rpm. Its rated fuel efficiency is 18.4km/L (NEDC R101), equivalent to a driving range of 650 km full 35L tank.

The turbo engine features some technical innovations such as the electronic wastegate to improve turbo compression and reduce turbo lag. Further, the engine uses with Mirror Bore Coating Technology adapted from the legendary Nissan GT-R to help reduce friction between the piston ring and inner cylinder which contributes to increased durability, reduced wear & tear and better heat management.

ETCM has three variants of the Almera Turbo available i.e. 1.0 VL, 1.0 VLP and the range-topping 1.0 VLT. The mid-range VLP variant adds on larger 16″ wheels, dual tone dashboard, leather wrapped steering with Advanced Drive Assist Display (ADAD) controls, leather gear knob, coloured 7″ semi digital instrument display, 8″ touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and six speakers, rear view camera, climate control, combination leather seats, and an extra four airbags to make it six.

Nissan Almera Turbo_Rear Diffuser_Tail LightMeanwhile, the top-of-the-range VLT gets the addition of LED headlamps with auto on/off and LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lamps, Around View Monitor, Intelligent Moving Object Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Cruise Control, and a Gloss Black trunk lid spoiler.

There are three all-new exterior colours i.e. Radiant Red, Monarch Orange, and Dark Metal Grey, to complement the popular Brilliant White, Diamond Black and Tungsten Silver choices.

All variants of the Almera Turbo are certified Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV), and comes with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with 5 times free maintenance service (parts & labour included).

The official launch is expected to be in October 2020 with prices expecting to be between RM80,000 and RM90,000.

The Isuzu Safety Plus platform introduced in the enhanced ELF light-duty truck range is aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency.  According to Isuzu Malaysia, ELF trucks equipped with Isuzu Safety Plus features a combination of crucial safety system upgrades, as well as B20 biodiesel compatibility. Further, Isuzu is providing greater warranty benefits to meet current market demands, and delivering more efficient transport solutions to truck operators in Malaysia.

These enhancements are found in 18 variants of the Isuzu ELF truck, ranging from the 4-wheeler to the 6-wheeler variants. The introduction of the Safety Plus platform means that Isuzu now offers the widest range of light-duty trucks equipped with enhanced features, enabling truck operators to run a safer, more productive and sustainable business.

Isuzu Malaysia_CEO_ Koji Nakamura“The enhanced ELF range with Isuzu Safety Plus truly represents a thorough evolution to delivering more superior levels of safety and performance that many truck operators seek in order for them to effectively navigate their business in today’s market environment,” said Koji Nakamura, CEO of Isuzu Malaysia.

Moreover, the enhanced ELF range with Isuzu Safety Plus will enjoy extended warranty coverage of 5 years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first. This extensive warranty coverage is currently one of the best in the market, and indicates Isuzu’s commitment and long-term support to its Malaysian customers. The extended warranty will also effectively help to lower the overall operating cost for businesses.

Isuzu Safety Plus Features

Isuzu Malaysia (Commercial Vehicles)_COO_ Atsunori MurataAt the launch, Atsunori Murata, COO of Isuzu Malaysia (Commercial Vehicles) explained that the Isuzu Safety Plus platform is supported by four main features i.e. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Anti-slip Regulator (ASR) and Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Airbag.

The ABS feature efficiently reduces the risk of skidding by preventing the wheels from locking up during braking on slippery surfaces. It helps to maintain traction with the road surface, thus giving a more secure directional stability and predictable handling for the driver.

Paired with ABS is EBD which automatically distributes the ideal brake force to all wheels based on the weight of the load, road condition and speed. This feature maximises stopping power by enabling a more precise brake force distribution and giving the driver greater control.

Meanwhile, the ASR function has an on/off option that can prevent the wheels from spinning in slippery conditions and during cornering by increasing road traction. This also increases the lifespan of the tyres too.

Additionally, the SRS Airbag is a vital passive feature which reduces the impact and injuriesIsuzu Safety Plus_ELF for the driver in the event of a head-on collision.

On top of that, the seat belt system has two key features to ensure safety. Firstly, the Seat Belt Pre-Tensioner operates by retracting the belt instantly and removing the slack in the belt to firmly secure the driver. Secondly, the Seat Belt Load Limiter releases the webbing force gradually so as to not exert too much pressure on the driver’s chest, thus minimising bodily harm in the event an accident.

Furthermore, this ELF truck range is the first in its segment to offer the full benefits of Isuzu’s S.E.E Technology, representing the three core aspects – Safety, Economy and Environment. ‘Safety’ comes in the form of both active and passive safety features; ‘Economy’ from the extensive warranty offered; while Environment’ signifies compatibility to B20 biodiesel.

“With Isuzu’s S.E.E Technology at its core, the enhanced ELF range with Isuzu Safety Plus corresponds to today’s truck operators’ need for efficiency, safety, cost savings and lower carbon footprint – everything delivered in a dynamic, versatile and reliable light-duty vehicle,” shared Koji Nakamura.

Top-Selling Truck

Isuzu ELF Truck_No. 1 Light Duty Commercial Vehicle_2019_MalaysiaThe Isuzu ELF truck has been the top-selling light-duty truck for the past 10 years in Malaysia. Isuzu Malaysia expects the introduction of this new enhanced range will help it sustain its market-leading position.

“The enhanced ELF range with Isuzu Safety Plus is the ideal distribution partner that is set to power through as the next game changer in the segment. At Isuzu, we believe we have raised the bar once again and we are confident that this enhanced range is poised to propel us to achieving another notable milestone as the most preferred and most sellable light-duty truck in Malaysia this year and beyond,” added Koji Nakamura.

With more than added safety features, the enhanced ELF range with Isuzu Safety Plus also builds on proven technology and reliability. In addition, the trucks are ready for use with B20 biodiesel, as mandated by the government.

The ELF trucks are available at all 43 authorised Isuzu truck outlets nationwide.

Effective today (1 September 2020), three Toyota outlets under UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) have been transferred to dealers to run. This has been an ongoing move by UMWT since its announcement in October 2017, to transfer the operation all of its retail branches to dealers and other relevant parties.

The new dealers, Borneo Mobility (Sabah) Sdn Bhd and Borneo Mobility (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, will take over the Kota Kinabalu and Kuching outlets. While PCM Subang Motor Sdn Bhd will take over the Subang Jaya outlet.

“It is essential for us to continue achieving high customer satisfaction standards. This allows us to increase intensity on high value added upstream activities such as product development, marketing and dealer network support, while Dealers continue to dedicate themselves towards delivering customers satisfaction,” said UMWT President, Mr. Ravindran K.

Toyota_Showroom_Dealership_Customer Service“We are working ever more closely with our Dealers now to realise a shared vision for UMWT, which is to deliver the concept of “Best In Town”, meaning more focused on one to one customer engagement.” he added.

This strategy promises an exciting phase of seamless support for UMWT’s significant customer base. It will also allow for a stronger entrepreneurial drive to create more value for the local economy.
