Lexus NX recalled for defective ABS actuator

by -

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has announced that a special service campaign is underway to replace potentially defective actuators for the anti-lock braking systems of the Lexus NX. Besides ABS, the actuator is also connected to the vehicles traction and stability control systems.

In affected vehicles, the defect is the result of improper shape of a component within the actuator that is susceptible to damage during the module’s press fitting assembly resulting in minor resin fragments that could become stuck in the actuator. In emergencies, these fragments can affect the actuator’s oil pressure control sufficiently that its response can be delayed resulting in a loss of vehicle stability.

Local Toyota and Lexus distributor UMW Toyota Motor has received confirmation from TMC that approximately 255 units of the Lexus NX sold in Malaysia manufactured between November 2014 and March 2015 are involved in this service campaign.

All affected customers will be contacted by UMW Toyota Motor to make arrangements for inspection and necessary corrective measures as soon as possible. Defective actuators will be replaced with new ones at no cost to owners.
