Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has widened its offering of Porsche vehicles in Malaysia with the latest-generation 911 Targa 4S and new Cayenne range unveiled in conjunction with the opening of a new Porsche Centre outlet at Sungei Besi today. Also shown at the launch event is Porsche’s 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid supercar.

Latest yet familiar variant of the seventh-generation 911, the new Targa 4S features the characteristic Targa bar and powered roof mechanism – consisting of a soft top and glass window – that opens and closes in just 19 seconds, provided the vehicle is stationary. A manually-adjustable wind deflector functions to reduce wind draught significantly on the move.

Powering the 911 Targa 4S is a direct injected flat-six pumping out 400hp from 3.8 litres of displacement. Fitted with Porsche’s 7-speed PDK and Sport Chrono package, the all-wheel driven Targa 4S hits 100kph from rest in 4.4 seconds and maxes out just four shy of 300kph. Fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are rated at 10.0 l/100km and 237 g/km respectively, figures claimed to be on par with the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet.

The new Cayenne range, meanwhile, launches in Malaysia with five variants all offering improved performance and reduced fuel consumption. The base petrol Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel variants offer improved versions of existing engines, whilst the Cayenne S downsizes from its V8 to a new 3.6-litre bi-turbo V6 with increased outputs of 420hp and 550Nm.

Making its world premiere, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is the first vehicle among premium SUVs to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Thanks to ingenious application of technology, this all-wheel driven luxury SUV is able to offer remarkable economy of 3.4 l/100km and carbon dioxide emissions of 79 g/km.

Completing the range is the Cayenne S Diesel, which develops 385hp and 850Nm from a 4.2-litre V8 turbodiesel. Rated to consume 8.0 litres of fuel every 100km in NEDC tests, the Cayenne S Diesel sprints from rest to 100kph in 5.4 seconds and hits a top whack of 252kph.
