Award-Winning Kia EV6 Now Available From RM301k

The award-winning Kia EV6 has been launched in Malaysia by Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor for Kia vehicles here. The EV6 debuted on 30 March 2021 and has bagged various awards globally, including the 2022 Red Dot Award for “Best of the Best Car Design” as well as the 2022 European Car of the Year award.

The Kia EV6 is an important model for the brand as it heads into a new era. It is also the first of Kia’s next-generation Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) developed under a new design philosophy with a new dedicated EV platform.

It sits on the all-new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive set-up. With this configuration, the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) in the front axle provides a maximum output of 99 hp @ 2,800 – 6,300 rpm, while the rear motor pushes out 221 hp @ 4,500 – 7,700 rpm. Likewise, torque is 255 Nm @ 2,800 – 6,300 rpm at the front and 350 Nm @ 4,500 – 7,700 rpm at the back. This staggered delivery of power essentially makes the EV6 a front-wheel-drive at lower speeds and AWD with bias to the rear at higher speeds or during aggressive acceleration. Combined power equals to 320 hp and 605 Nm. The car can reach a top speed of 185 km/h; acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is claimed at 5.2 seconds. As for wheel size, the EV6 is fitted with 255/45 R20 tyres.Kia EV6_Rear View_Road

The car gets power from a 77.4 kWh battery that delivers an estimated driving range of up to 506 km on a full charge*. Additionally, the flexibility of its Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) charging system enables the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which is capable of discharging energy from the vehicle battery. This means the V2L function can supply up to 3.6 kWh of power, and like a powerbank, is capable of powering external electronics.

The EV6 is also fitted with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. It has High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Assist (RCCA), which detects oncoming vehicles from either side when Reverse gear is engaged. In addition, there is also a Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Junction Turning, which provides preventive safety when navigating through junctions, Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

Alternatively, you can call upon the EV6’s Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) system to take the hassle out of tight parking spots. The RSPA system detects the parking space of a suitable size and automatically steers itself into the space using the surround-view cameras and ultrasonic sensors.

Designed with Kia’s new philosophy of “Opposite United”, the EV6 is a showcase of progressive, human-centric design. The new visual identity sees a contrasting combination of sharp stylistic elements and a sculptured shapes. It also represents an evolution of the brand’s ‘Tiger Face’ (now termed a ‘Digital’ one), with the sleek daytime running lights and a sequential dynamic light pattern.

View from the side, its profile accentuates a crossover-inspired design, with sharp lines and details that create a sense of design and aerodynamics. The swept-back windshield gives it a dynamic look while the bold rear haunches add volume through the character line along the bottom of the doors down to the rear wheel arches, visually elongating the car. Additionally, the sloping C-pillar was designed with the ultimate realization of aerodynamic performance, integrated with black glossy inserts that visually widen the window glass. The roof spoilers are there to channel air downwards towards a raised lower spoiler which sits on the car’s unique rear light cluster.

The 2,900 mm wheelbase of the EV6 gives it a cabin space that is similar to a mid-sized SUV. The seat design is contemporary, slim and lightweight, with robust fabrics made from recycled plastic. The interior is further enhanced with safety, connectivity and infotainment features, designed to make travelling safer, easier and more entertaining. The infotainment system is connected to a powerful 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system, with controls accessible from the curved 12.3″ screen. It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and multi-Bluetooth connectivity as well as wireless charging.

For cargo space, the EV6 has a flexible interior package and a rear storage space of 520 litres (1,300 litres with the 2nd row seats folded). There is another 20 litres worth of space in the front trunk, where an internal combustion engine would have sat.

In terms of safety, the Kia EV6 is equipped with both standard safety features and advanced safety features. This includes 7 SRS airbags (Front Driver & Passenger, Driver Knee, Side and Curtain), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system which automatically provide a warning and lock the door if an approaching vehicle from the rear side is detected within the blind spot. Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), ISOFIX Child Restraint Anchor Points and Top Tethers as well as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) are also standard.

Further, the EV6 was awarded a 5-Star EURO NCAP, the highest safety rating in the latest crash test protocol. The results include a 90% score for adult occupant protection and 86% for child occupant protection. High-strength Electric-Global Modular Platform and outstanding torsional rigidity reinforce the EV6’s safety credentials.

The all-new Kia EV6 is currently imported CBU from South Korea. It will likely continue to be at least until manufacturers and their supply chain get a clearer, more defined long-term picture of the government’s policies and incentives for investment.

There is only one variant on sale now i.e EV6 GT-Line AWD and it comes with a retail price starting from RM300,668 (on-the-road in Peninsular Malaysia, without insurance). Exterior colour choices are Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue and the exclusive Moonscape. The EV6 comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty (or first 150,000 km), whichever comes first. In addition, the Kia EV6 EV battery warranty coverage is up to 7 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first.

The Kia EV6 is open for booking and you can place your order at any authorised Kia showroom.
