Flagship Hyundai Palisade E-Segment SUV To Be Launched This Month
It isn’t a big secret that Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors will launch the flagship E-segment Hyundai Palisade SUV. And the official note states that it will be rolled out this month and it is now open for booking.
“The Hyundai Palisade will be a new contender in the E-segment SUV, boasting cutting-edge technology, a host of advanced safety features including Hyundai’s Smartsense, ample space and an elegant design. It is Hyundai’s largest SUV with a long wheelbase. Its practical all-purpose built is great for off-roading, road trips and even for daily use,” said Mr Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM).
The 3-row Palisade comes fully imported from South Korea and will be the first full-sized Hyundai SUV to be launched in Malaysia. It comes with an all-new SUV chassis and will be available in a 7- and an 8-seat configuration and offer exceptional 2nd and 3rd row spaciousness coupled with generous cargo area and reconfiguration flexibility.
The Palisade is a member of the latest Hyundai Sensuous Sportiness design concept which harmonises the fundamental design elements of proportion, architecture, styling, and technology. A bold and wide cascading grille dominates the front of the SUV, hinting at its premium positioning. Separated composite headlamps and a vertically connected forward lighting signature, all in LED, create a distinctive look.
Meanwhile, the rear emphasises a wide and stable stance with a vertical LED rear tail lamp design. To add to the cabin spaciousness is a panoramic rear glass coupled with a cutaway roof. In addition, the instrument panel has a smooth wood-grain trim in a wraparound interior design that creates a spacious, comfortable ambience. The seats are upholstered in premium, quilted Nappa leather, with the 2nd row getting one-touch function for easy access to the 3rd row. The 7-seater variant gives captain chairs with ventilation for the 2nd row.
The Palisade also features an industry-first, innovative roof vent diffuser design that can provide a focused, partially-diffused or fully-diffused stream of air to the rear passengers. This new diffuser vent design provides quieter rear air conditioning airflow, draft-free operation, more uniform distribution of air and the capability for a focused stream of air whenever desired. Furthermore, each row gets USB ports.
There are 2 powertrain variants to choose from. The first is a 3.8L V6, dual CVVT, direct-injected petrol engine with 295 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 355 Nm of torque @ 5,200 rpm. The other is a 2.2L CRDi inline-4 turbo diesel with 200 PS @ 3,800 rpm and 440 Nm @ 1,750-2,750 rpm. Engine power is transferred to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission with a multi-plate torque converter and offers both 2-wheel and HTRAC® 4-wheel-drive configurations.
