Volkswagen Debuts the New CC in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, 11 June 2012 – Volkswagen passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM), a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group Malaysia launched the Volkswagen CC to the Malaysian market earlier tonight. The CC takes over from what we previously knew as the Passat Cc, and is basically a refreshed model, with some new features and some changes.
The biggest change is that the engine has been down-sized to a 1.8 litre turbo-charged unit – the engine horsepower is also reduced to 160 horsepower, and 250 Nm of torque, which is identical to that of the locally assembled Passat sedan. It has a claimed acceleration time from zero to 100 kph of 8.5 seconds, and top speed is mooted at 223 kph. The 4-cylinder in-line powerplant is exceptionally fuel efficient, with the fuel consumption rated at 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres (combined cycle). The engine drives the front wheels through a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
What distinguishes the CC from the normal Passat sedan is its sleek body shape, which would appeal to the younger and sportier set. Adaptive Chassis Control allows for different chassis set-ups to cater for different driving situations. The Volkswagen CC comes in two variants – Comfort and Sport.
The Sport offers additional features, such as 18-inch alloys, keyless entry and start system, and a fatigue detection system, a 600W audio system, rear view camera and a panoramic tilting glass roof.
Whereas the 2.0 litre CC retails at around RM270k, the 1.8 litre CC is offered at the more attractive price of RM 225,888 for the Comfort version and RM 243,888 for the Sport Version. This effectively extends the Volkswagen CC range to cover a broader spectrum of the market, and offers buyers a good bridging model from the Passat to the more powerful 2.0 litre CC, which is expected to be introduced later on in the year (said a little bird). At the same time, it also gives the other German brands a run for the customer’s money.
The cars are available at all Volkswagen showrooms nationwide with immediate effect.
