BMW set to grow East Malaysia presence
BMW Group Malaysia has officially launched a new 4S (Sales, Service, Systems, and Spare Parts) centre in Kuching and the promise for Sarawak customers is that there will eventually be more. Operating the new showroom, situated in prime real estate along Rock Road, is Regas Premium Auto Sdn Bhd.
Mr. David Tay, Managing Director, Regas Premium Auto said, “We at Regas are excited to venture into the premium automobile business with BMW Group Malaysia as it is the next step in our growth as the automotive leader in East Malaysia. We believe BMW is the right partner because they are the most dynamic brand in the premium segment with the most advanced products and service techniques which is very much needed if we want to be serious contenders in this business.”
Founded in 1981 as Regas Motor Sdn Bhd, the Regas Group of Companies is one of more established automotive dealers in Sarawak. In 2010, the group’s various companies had a combined total revenue of RM374 million. Tay added that plans are in place for Regas to help BMW expand its presence through out Sarawak. A larger BMW 4S premises is set to open along the Jalan Tun Jugah area in Kuching by 2013.
Regas Premium Auto’s opening comes as BMW Group Malaysia is seeking to expand its dealership network nationwide. In the past four years, BMW Group Malaysia has established a number new BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad dealerships whilst refurbishing existing ones. Fueling this aggressive growth are strong sales numbers, and as of October 2011, BMW Group Malaysia has already delivered a total of 4,658 vehicles, a 26% year-on-year increase.
