SA6 and any Volvo lovers, nice to meet you all, our Volvo 740GLE Manual
look like a brother with SA6, cause my number is SA5752K,Big Smile I drove the
car around three years plus, but now a bit problem have to solve, please advice,

1) My Manual gearbox, very hard to shift gear, I have change the clutch
cover and lining (original)three years ago, but after six months the shift
problem come out, the spareparts supplier ask me to change another Turbo model
cover & lining, more bigger (original too), I thing around one year plus
it's serve me very good, but recently I come back from outstation, I cannot
shift totally when I start the car in the next morning, but if switch off
the engine, it's should be no problem at all, when I take off the gear box,
the lining stick on the flywheel, just take it off, but the lining & cover
exacly look like new, so fix it back, then after few weeks the shift
problem comeback again,
I really dont now what to do.

2) The fuel pump on the bottom of car body, I changed it two years ago
because it's leak, (the original too), but now it comeout the hamming sound
like dI.....dI...., but no leaking, it's look like very hard TO pump.

Please advice and comment.

THANK YOU VERY MUCHSmile

Sworks hi, sorry for my late reply, been busy running here and there. As
for your gearbox problem, looks like you have a clutch problem rather than
the transmission. What brand of clutch set did you use ? the clutch lining
you refer to should call it as clutch plate and the heavier metal cover is
call pressure plate. I seldom come accross sticky clutch problem, did you
check if there is a leak from your main engine seal ?? the oil that leak
will get into your plate and wet it, that could be possibily the sticky
plate reason. Beside that how is your clutch pump doing ?? if you don't
get a good pump, your gear shifting could be problem also. I am not sure
about using Turbo model clutch plate set but it seem you still got the
problem.

Fuel pump problem, the hamming sound is indicating that your pump is
almost time to change. If you prolong the usage, the pump will be totally
dead at anytime.

Where is your location ?? I can be contacted @ 017-8867783.

Average life of Volvos = 20+ years. My 84 240's still going strong &
minimum of rust. I can easily get another 10 years from it. Take a guess
on the 740. Wink

scenic, double the car's current 15 years, not only another 10, if you
look after your car. These cars are built to last. BTW, I'm fine & thanks
for enquiring.
