Welcome to the club. You are from which part of Sarawak? I've been
travelling to Kuching quite often. Maybe in my next trip early next month,
we can have a coffee together. My favourite hotel is Holiday Inn coz it's
right infront of my Kuching branch.

Kuching and I go back twice a month. I suppose your office is in Wisma
Bukit Mata?
I am likely to be in Kuching during Gawai but I may come back to Sibu
early. I will be taking delivery of my new babe end of this month, so got
to drive it down to Sibu.
Anyway, thks for the invitation.

import price and also most of the importers have their own AP. Using
other's AP is costly.
Yes, one still has to take the ferry when going from Kuching to Sibu. The
bridge is currently under construction and likely to be completed in 2
years time.

GLE? And, has this made your fuel consumption much worse than it already
is?

station just around the corner from my house. A taxi driver once told me
that RM 5 takes him to Ipoh.

to convert into auto, I have to admit that the are pros & cons with either
auto or manual. Mine originally was M46 manual gearbox, and I have to say
is not convinience for city driving with 90% of it bumper to bumper. On
the other hand automatic gearbox let you relex your left leg as well as
left hand. Some of us may have idea that auto gear consume more fuel but
for Volvo it largely depend on your foot !!!! what I mean is if you push
the gas more often, even if it's manaul it will consume fuel.
My previous fuel consumption with the manual was about 45km to 50km/RM10
and about 70km to 75km/RM10. Now with auto, the fuel consumption stil
largely remain unchange. But as I said your foot play an important role
when come to fuel, when I was in my home town Kota Bharu, due to the slow
moving traffic and the peoples around, I use more gas than in KL city.
That was becuase I have to stop and move and stop and move more.
I still prefer the manual if it come to car as we get to control it.

Actually that is so true. The right foot makes a lot of difference. If I
shift between the 2k to 3k rpm range, I get so much more mileage.
Nevertheless, my fuel consumption is higher than yours for non-city
driving. I drive about 75km to and back from work. This requires roughly
RM 15 of fuel (before price hike). But then again, my 740 has not been
tuned as well as yours I guess. Any tips there (other than taking the
bus)?
Next, would you know how much will an odometer/tripmeter cost roughly? Is
it possible to get a recon one? Mine went dead at 130,000 km yearssss back
and it was never replaced.
And just for info, I saw a chop shop along the LDP highway somewhere in
Puchong. If you head towards Cyberjaya from Sunway, it`s on your right
hand side. Just before the cyberjaya LDP toll. It has a stack
full of chopped Volvos. 940s mainly.

injector rubber O-ring, air hose etc may help to save some fuel. Correct
your ignition timing, air filter and tyre pressure are alternative.
About your meter, it could be just a worn gear inside the meter. If you
looking for a 2nd hand I know someone who has it but it's from a 940 Turbo
with a tiny Turbo meter underneth the RPM. Let me know.

The trip meter on the 740 that I have just bought is not working, although
the needle is functioning. The previous owner said he has the spare parts
but didnt want to replace for fear of spoiling something in the entire
meter. true kah?
