Antigen,
Cherokees are cheap nowadays, around RM25k only. Very much like to own
one, but have not found out the common problems of Cherokee in M'sia so
dare not commit to one. Any opinion from the 4x4 Gurus?

Around Selangor, Ulu Yam and Kerling has tracks that is suitable for
family camping in a stock standard 4wd. In capable hands a standard 4wd
will go to a lot of places you never think possible, yes even a Kembara
will suprise you in the hands of an experienced offroad driver.

jsammy,
it depends on yr tyre segment whether it's for highway, mud-terrain or all-
terrain. It's easily to spot on, the thread should tell. Not sure abt
Kumho HT tho. If it's stock standard, as Ket aptly said, depending on the
4wd system that you have - you may surprise yrself. But offroad tyres are
much better for mud-plugging. Never use them for on-road tho, you may end
up changing tyre every 3 months :-).

cheers,

"competitor" above should be "spectator", but then why not be a competitor
as well

Ah. Getting very interesting lar.

And you guys please discuss about it, must discuss before-hand one.
Otherwise, ended up with no food in the jungle then how? But too bad, I
have to apologize that I cannot join in the discussion coz I am working
abroad currently. Most probably will apply for a short break in July and
head back tanah-air and hopefully can spend 2 days 1 nite in the green
green jungle. I love the camping feeling, really close to the nature mar!!

Hmm, H/T tyres ar. Can try but don't bet on it if it rains, it will skid
like "selipar botak" when you hit the brakes!!! Personally, I would very
much discourage it coz it's too dangerous. H/T meant for high-way use, A/T
for all terrains, M/T for hardcore off-road use. jsammy, bring your Kembara
instead, at least I am not alone lar!! Which tyres are fitted on your
Kembara anyway? Goodyear? Silverstone? Sime? These tyres are adequate, but
not those which are exactly H/T. Anyone, think about it please.

And ya lar.... where's the taiko mshuky?? He last emailed me last week and
definitely he's serious. I have his handphone number but I don't think it's
nice of me to disclose it over here. Can somebody please email me so that I
can forward his contact no to one of you. I really really wish I could join
in the discussion.

Cherokee under RM25k. Well, cheaper pun ada lar. I asked those Jeepers
about their maintenance. Sure it kills for average ppl, but every time they
will say this to me: " It's a Jeep thing. You won't understand!!!" that's
their standard tag line. That's why I favour more of Japanese makes -
Feroza.... anyone can advise me?? Wink

Anyway, any follow up on the Perodua staff, jsammy?? Personally, I think
you should let them know coz I think we would like to know whether is it
because of their lack of knowledge or just simply hentam one???

with proper 4wd system and ladder chassis. Having read the reviews, surely

Antigen,
My Kembara using Sime tyre Alpina, looks like H/T as well. I was advised
by my 4x4 advisor not to use A/T on my pajero reason being 90% of the time
I drive on the highway.

A/T, like Topan69 said.... every 3 mths change tyre and the noise, like
army truck. I just call my 4x4 advisor, he says that my Kumho has wide
treads can be use for softcore odd-roading. Well, let's try and see. by
the way, whose truck in this group has a WARN installed? (my truck weighs
more than 2 tons)

Talking about Jeep, you are right... maintenance killer, to me it's not a
Jeep thing, it's a money thing.

FYI, the PERODUA staff didn't give me a straight answer. So I email the
question to their Marketing Dept. Still waiting for their answer.

All this ding-dong about meeting up, let's do it next Saturday 12/06. I'm
staying in Jln Ipoh, where do the rest of you stay? let's meet at one
place. Time? Morning/Evening/Night...at the teh tarik stall??? Where's the
best teh tarik stall in KL? Cool

C'mon people, let's do it!!!!!!
