Selamat Pagi to all.... there're only 7 months left in 2004!!!

Erm.... a Rocky eaten up by a standard Kembara??

Anyway, my Kembara not a off-road machine. Only for camping trips... I kind
of favour SWB 4 wheelers, Rocky is good, but is Feroza better other than
being newer?? Have seen fully modded Feroza around, quite cool.... other
SWBs are Jimny, Vitara, Wrangler but still I prefer Feroza... any
enlightenment??

Thanks.....

I've got DVVT!!!!..... handling is easier than my Pajero because it's
small mah.... pickup number 1, can overtake my 2.4 pajero by miles on a
stop-go basis. Haven't try it on a hardcore offroad, My DVVT only for city
driving in case of flash flood and easy parking up the curb, up/down
frasier Hills/Genting/Bkt Tinggi handling superb, LSD working overtime.

But when you talk about Wrangler, I believe that's the ultimate offroad
machine. Just the other day I saw on Discovery Channel, they were using
Wranglers to do rock crawling, Wow!!! Talk about extreme offroad...

Hi jsammy,

Yup.... that's the advantage of SWB. Nimble and more agility but of coz,
there could be disadvantages as well.

Btw, never try a Kembara on a hardcore offroad, be it dvvt or non-dvvt, coz
Kembara is not built for that, only those steel ladder chassis vehicles can
take the torture of hardcore offroad. And sorry to correct you, Kembara is
not equipped with LSD but a electrically operated mechanical CDL (centre
differential lock). Have tried my Kembara few times, it serves basically
recreational off-road.

And yeah Wrangler... and tomb raider.... my dream machine and companion....
if wishes came true.... Big Smile

Antigen,
Is there a diff between CDL and LSD? I thought they are the same, only the
terminology is different. If they are different altogether, I will kick
the ass of the Perodua staff who told me that they're the same!!!!

I wonder if the Cherokee can perform just the same as the Wrangler?

Hi jsammy again,

Unfortunately, the car salesmen in Malaysia really out to "tipu" big time
besides having inadequate product knowledge of what they are selling.
That's why it does pay to know about cars in Malaysia as from the point of
acquiring car right to the point of disposing car, there will be someone
who tries to take advantage especially in the process of owning a car -
that is the repair and maintenance part, agree??

And yes sorry I have to see that Perodua staff being kicked the ****** big
time!!!

CDL - Centre Differential Lock, LSD - Limited Slip Differential, although
both are to do with differential, they are totally different!!! CDL is a
open differential, it is only to ensure distribution of power to the front
and rear wheels but LSD is to ensure the both front or rear wheels move at
the same time. Or put it simply, if Kembara is equipeed with LSD, it is
equivalent to a mini LandRover without Hill Descent Control or anything
like that??!!!!

Cherokee.... longer wheelbase than Wrangler... but they are Jeep. So still
it's a Jeep thing. We won't understand!!!!

Anyway, you bring your Pajero or Kembara for our offroad excursion??

Happy kicking the Perodua staff..... Blackeye

Cheers

Topan69,
Give you a lift, no problem but would very much like to watch yr Sorento
in action though...... I will be using my Pajero, I feel my Kembara is a
bit manja for off-road maybe can be use on estate trek but still never try.

But I'm still blurrlah... Are we going in July? where ah?? Let's meet up
one weekend in June to finalize.

Hi everybody...

That's exactly what we should do first. Get together, know each other
first and from there on plan a weekend for the trip. 2 days 1 nite kind
of trip for a beginning. The place should be finalise and agreed first...
Any recce trip to be done..any incumbrences to be identify etc etc etc...
No way out of blues we go straight there and regret later to find out we
didn't bring this, that etc.... Bare in mind, we are all 'first timer'.
So discussions are highly recommended.

Remember, safety always in mind if we go to no-man's land for
camping/outing...

Just my 2 sen.......

your Kembara will still perform admirably on lightweight offroad, compared
to the much more $$$$$ crv or rav4 out there..he he. As for my Sorento,
currently got no budget for offroad tyres lar. But if it's lightweight, I
may consider. I worry abt scratches only..

Anyway, lets get the project moving. Where's the taiko eh..?

cheers,
