Makangin, what abt your spare rim? Don`t you change the spare rim and the spare tyre too? Size will be different if you don`t change. Wonder how do the shop charge for additional spare rim???

Hi there,

Did any one of you fix a buzzer in your unser to warn you when you forgot to switch off your lights after you have switched off the engine. This is a very good device for people who are absent minded. Please advise where to install this type of device.

Newunser,
Nowadays tyre shops offer 4 rims only. And I heard that goes to new Proton cars too, if I am not mistaken.
Yes, spare tyre size is less than 10mm wide. I don`t intend to use it permanently. Somehow the car seems to sway to the right. Probably because of the different tyre width. Btw, yesterday I called another tyre shop and he quoted me RM165 only, but forgot to ask the Hankook catalogue no. (hopefully not the same as mine, otherwise I kena tipu). Will change this weekend and recheck the tyre alignment. Can`t afford to `rugi` all the time. For time being I drive my Kancil.

After reading your reply, I rethink again and decided not to proceed with the plan to cover all seats. I agree that the original cover is nice, look like songset. Now I`m getting to appreciate it.

If I were to change the rim, is it possible to have bigger than 15 inches??

loke: fixing a buzzer will be a good idea. just go to any reputable wiremen/electrical shop and tell them precisely what u want. costing shd. not exceed 40 rm.

ibni: what do you meant by bigger than 15" - izzit 16" or 17". then it will go with a low profile tyres. if u are more towards looks, then it okey, but u`ll lose the comfort and the `thud` sound` whenever u encounter uneven roads or small lubang here and there. anybody who have experienced using low profile tires with big rims shd be able to tell u more.
well, it`s up to u anyway... good luck...

SUV stands for Sports Utility Vehicle such as Pajero, Prado, CRV, Frontera, etc. Most of these are 4 wheel drive vehicles. Not sure what MPV stands for (Multi Purpose Vehicle/Van maybe), but they are usually in van shaped, e.g Zafira, Serena, Spectron, Ullesye(?). This is my understanding anyway.

By the way, how is the size of the Unser compared to a CRV? I am looking for something the size of a CRV or Sportage for my wife. Is the Unser in this category?

Definitely not. Unser carries 8 people with a little luggage space whereas SUV`s like CRV, Mitsubishi IOs Sportage,Kembara etc are like sedan cars, carries 5 people and of course are 4x4s, their young brothers of Pajero, Prado.

Ibni,

15" rim use low profile tyre of 60 or 65 series
my 2 weeks experience - is comfortable. It just rolled smoothly on fierce speed breakers without any thump.

but if 16 or 17" rim - it looks nice because little gap left on wheel arc. But you have to use Ultra low profile tyres of 50 or 45. And Aryfs said its not comfortable and also the price per tyre is quite expensive. And is quite difficult to get rims suitable for Unsers not like Protons.

Pokemon,
my definition:

MPV - multi purpose vehicle
as the name applies meaning can carry anything, the size that can fit in. Good for DIY people - no need extra cost for transportation.(ladder, cornice, wiring conduit etc)

SUV - are 4x4 vehicles
smaller than the true ones. And cannot truely `lasak` on off roads`
