Ironically, I'm now thinking of buying a truck for my wife. We had a look at the Myvi, Exora and Avanza as second cars. My oldest child will be starting school soon so we need a second car. When we got to the Toyota dealership, the Hilux really caught her eye. The idea of my wife driving a pick-up truck seems laughable to me but at least I can be confident that she'll come out of an accident okay. I'm slightly worried for all the other drivers in the Klang Valley though.
wow, like this I will go to tender out a used tank from the tentera, to be on the safe side!

Pickup are far more likely to roll over than saloon car, especially the Hilux. In another word, she is more likely to end up in an accident.
I prefers to use my head than follow the crowd. After all, it is my money and not theirs.

especially in the wet, cornering, sudden braking - it surely more dangerous to drive and true like bro tourist said - more likely to end up in an accident as compared to a saloon car.

Pickups are definitely more prone to rolling with their higher centre of gravity. The 'performance' isn't as good as a sedan but then if you were looking for performance, you wouldn't buy a pickup. Although the chance of rolling a pickup is higher than a sedan, it's still a minuscule risk and in KL you are much more likely to get crashed into by a taxi driver who was half asleep at the wheel than to roll your pickup.

sure in KL jam - others cars will surely "siam" away , when they see a pick up! then it is surely safer?

once you master driving a 4wd truck, you will enjoy it. I have one since 2008 and thinking of MPV due to increase family members but this recent launched trucks keep pooping up on my list.....

Absolutely agree with you bro. Your wife is not going to do any F1 kind of driving. It's all about having respect for the vehicle's performance. This roll over bit is nonsense once you have mastered driving the truck.Only idiots drive madly and they deserve to end up in an accident. Chances of getting whacked at the back or sides is pretty high in the Klang valley. This where you'll have peace of mind your family is in a tank! Go for it bro, 100%

No, the 2.2. The one I'm thinking of buying.
The build quality is good. The view is nice up there and the cabin feels much more like a family car than a trades man's work vehicle. The big question now is how to finance it. My current thinking is that I'll sell my Accord and buy a Ranger and a small car (maybe a Swift). That'll probably change by the time I go to bed tonight and 3 times during the day tomorrow.
Still, no rush. It's not even confirmed that we'll need a second car yet.
