Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, its first EV for Malaysia. This also makes Volvo the only automotive brand to offer a full range of locally assembled electrified models. Volvo is also exporting electrified models assembled in Shah Alam to other ASEAN markets; currently also the only brand to do so. This is part of its global objective to be a fully electric company by 2030.

Volvo Car Malaysia_Managing Director_Charles FrumpHowever, for Malaysia, there will still be conventional offerings though the company plans to launch 1 EV model every year (we will see 2 this year). According to Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car  Malaysia, the company will eventually have 75% of its local product portfolio made up of Recharge Pure Electric models by 2025. It not only wants to be a carbon neutral company by 2040, it also wants to be the leading premium EV brand in Malaysia.

“Volvo Car Malaysia is ready to implement Volvo’s global plan for a fully electric line-up by 2030, starting with the launch of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric today. The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is just one of our many steps to encourage consumers to adopt electric vehicles for a more sustainable future. By mid-decade, we’re aiming to reduce our overall CO2 lifecycle emissions per car by 40%. This means more than simply reducing tailpipe emissions – electrification is not enough. We must reduce CO2 emissions across our operations and supply chain,” said Charles.

The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. There are 2 electric motors, one on each axle, to provide 402 hp and 660 Nm of torque. This enables this EV to hit 100 km/h from standstill in 4.9 seconds. Top speed however, is limited to 180 km/h as per Volvo’s global safety intention.

Providing ‘fuel’ to the motors, is a 78 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack which sits in the floor for stability. The official driving range is 418 km on a single charge (WLTP), but we are potentially looking at approximately 390 km in Klang Valley driving. That also depends on your right foot as well as traffic conditions. The battery can take a maximum of 11 kW via AC (alternating current) charging using a Type 2 connector, and fully charge up in about 7.5 hours. DC (direct current) charging is a faster option and will require a different connector. The battery needs just over half an hour to get to 80% SoC (state of charge) from empty, if via DC.

The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric also features Google Services built-in, with Google Assistant voice control to access this compact SUV’s functions. This partnership between Google and Volvo Cars makes for a more hands-on and eyes-on driving. To make full use of this, a data plan would be necessary.

Design-wise, it does not stray from the XC40 we see on the road now save for the lack of a front grille. The absence of an internal combustion engine also allows for the ‘engine’ bay to feature a front trunk (frunk) for additional storage. Another point to note is the staggered tyre sizes i.e. 235/50 R19 in front, and 255/45 R19 at the rear, for better driving stability.

Volvo Car Malaysia has not announced the official retail price yet. You will have to wait until 4 April 2022 for that, subsequent to which you can book this SUV online (or visit a showroom from this date on). You can book a test drive through www.volvocars.com/my or through any Volvo authorised dealer.

The company expects to start vehicle deliveries at the end of April. According to Volvo, it will be a “hassle-free price” i.e. it includes the convenience charging cable, service package, 5-year vehicle warranty, 8-year HV battery warranty and 5-year roadside assistance.

Volvo Car Malaysia however, does not determine the retail price between customers and any authorised Volvo Dealer. The actual drive-away price that a customer pays for the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will be agreed by the customer with the selected Authorised Volvo Dealer and set out in the vehicle sale agreement between the customer and the selected Authorised Volvo Dealer.

If you are wondering about a home (or office) wall charger, the 11 kW Hager charger is available from Volvo Dealers and costs about RM8,000 including installation. Alternatively, you can choose your own preferred wall charger brand, as long as it is compatible.

L-R: Mr Azrul Osman Rani, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Petronas Dagangan Berhad; Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Mr Michael Jopp; President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Ms Sagree Sardien; Chief Executive Officer Petrosains Sdn Bhd, Mr Ezarisma Azni Mohamad.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the all-electric EQ 250, effectively kicking off its local EV and sustainability strategy. MBM will also strengthen its partnership with PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) to further enhance its comprehensive EV infrastructure plans to cater to the demands and needs towards Future Mobility. Last November, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia had signed an MoU with PDB to install 5 high-speed chargers, branded “ENERGISE by PETRONAS”, along the North-South Expressway and part of the East Coast Expressway as the first step to enhancing and encouraging EV adoption in Malaysia.

MBM also plans to install 13 new DC fast chargers in strategic dealer locations nationwide this year. These chargers will be available for use by EQ customers at no cost until the end of 2023.

“Starting with the introduction of the EQA, we are committed towards our claim to Lead in Electric with a holistic well-rounded approach towards a sustainable tomorrow. As we gear up to implement our EV readiness and sustainability efforts, it is our top priority to kickstart this journey towards an electric future by working with the right partners to achieve future mobility. Through our continuous partnership with Petronas and our CSR outreach programmes, education will play a vital role in making this future a reality,” said Ms Sagree Sardien, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. Globally, the luxury marque has plans to go all-electric by 2030 where market conditions allow.

Azrul Osman Rani, PDB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer said, “Sustainability is at the core of everything that we do, and we are excited to extend our expertise with our long-standing partner, Mercedes-Benz to build a holistic EV infrastructure in Malaysia. Both brands have a shared vision and capabilities that will complement one another in materialising future mobility in Malaysia. Through this partnership, fast chargers will be available at strategic locations leveraging our wide network of PETRONAS stations, thus enhancing customer confidence in the adoption of EVs in Malaysia.

The Mercedes-Benz EQA is an entry level model to the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQ world. Offered here in a single variant i.e. EQA 250, this compact SUV has a combined electric consumption of 17.6 kWh/100km and total range of 429 kilometres according to WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure).

“We are excited to kick off our EV offensive with the introduction of the EQA, which is the entry-level model to the all-electric world of Mercedes-EQ. Packed with seamless connectivity, clear design, and advanced technology, the EQA is progressive and intuitive and offers customers electrification in the compact segment. The EQA is an important vehicle, both globally and locally as we embark on our journey towards an all-electric future,” said Michael Jopp, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

The EQA is fitted with a lithium-ion battery with a high energy density. The powerful high-voltage battery has a maximum voltage of 420 V and a nominal capacity of 190 Ah, giving it an energy content of 66.5 kWh. It sits underneath the passenger compartment in the middle of the vehicle to aid weight distribution. However, the lowest point of the vehicle is the lower edge of the side skirts so the EQA has more than 200 mm of ground clearance, which puts the battery bank sufficiently off the ground.

Furthermore, the battery features a “double-decker” design, making it another example of the intelligent use of space: The “nose” of the battery, which accommodates the battery management system, is situated towards the front, behind the centre console. An aluminium housing as well as the body structure of the vehicle itself protect the components from potentially touching the ground and against loose chippings. The battery housing is part of the vehicle structure and an integral part of the crash concept. Thus it is structurally protected from damage.

Additional safety for the battery comes in the form of automatic deactivation in a crash, reversibly or irreversibly depending on the accident severity. Another feature of this comprehensive safety concept is that the charging process is automatically curtailed if an impact is detected when the car is stationary at a rapid-charging station (DC charging). In addition to this independently functioning monitoring system, the EQA is fitted with a special disconnection point which can be used by rescue services to switch off the high-voltage system.

The battery is also part of the intelligent thermal management system of the EQA. To ensure that it is always kept within the optimum temperature range, it can be cooled or heated as required via a coolant-fed plate underneath the battery. The standard heat pump also forms part of the sophisticated thermal management system. With its numerous innovative details, such as the reuse of the waste heat from the electric drive system, the system is configured for exceptional efficiency and thus maximum range. It is also possible to set the pre-entry climate control for the interior of the EQA before starting. This function is controlled directly from the MBUX infotainment system or via the Mercedes me App.Mercedes-Benz EQA_Cockpit_Display Screens

The battery provides the power to the motor which is capable of 190 hp (140 kW) and 370 Nm. This is enough to take the 2,040 kg EQA 250 from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 160 km/h.

At home or at public charging points, the on-board charger provides a convenient way of charging the EQA with up to 11 kW using alternating current (AC), though it will always be faster if you have access to a direct current (DC) charger. With AC charging (at 11 kW), it will take about 5 hours 45 minutes to get to 100% SoC (state of charge) from 10%. In contrast, it only takes 32 minutes to go from 10% to 80% SoC with a DC charger (100 kW).

For the driver, the Mercedes-EQ tile in the media display can be used to call up menus relating to charging options, electrical consumption and energy flow. The right-hand display within the instrument cluster is a wattmeter, in place of a tachometer. The upper section shows the percentage of power used, the lower section the recuperation. The left-hand instrument can be used to show whether your destination can be reached without an interim charging stop. The colours of the display will change according to the driving situation. During a boost process, for example, the display changes to white.

The EQA has a Cd value (coefficient of drag) of 0.28 for better efficiency. Among the most important aerodynamic measures are the completely closed cooling air control system in the upper section, the aerodynamically efficient front and rear aprons, a very smooth, almost completely enclosed underbody, specially optimised Aero wheels and specifically adapted front and rear wheel spoilers.

Mercedes-Benz EQA_Headlights_Wheel_BumperPassive safety is also a priority for the EQA. Unique to EQ, the vehicle features Acoustic ambient protection alert pedestrians and cyclists when driving virtually silently. The acoustic presence indicator generates specific Mercedes-Benz sounds outside of the vehicle up to a speed of 20 km/h. As part of this it differentiates between driving forwards and reversing.

The comprehensive standard specification of the EQA includes features such as LED High Performance headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, the EASY-PACK tailgate with electrically operated opening and closing, 19″ AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, ambient lighting with 64 colours, a double cup holder, luxury seats with 4-way adjustable lumbar support, a reversing camera, and a multi-function sports steering wheel in leather. The EQA 250 is personalised with designs from the AMG Line.

Utility value was one of the general focuses during development; the rear seat backrest is 40:20:40 split-folding.

The EQA comes equipped with fast charging cable for wallbox and public charging stations. You can also opt to book a wallbox installation service with the brand’s installation partner (EVC) upon purchase of the vehicle.

Additionally, EQ customers on-the-go will enjoy an exclusive 1-year subscription with JomCharge, where you will enjoy unlimited charging at 50% discount at all JomCharge charging stations (for the first 1,000 customers). The brand will also have 13 new DC fast chargers installed in strategic dealer locations this year where EQ customers can use at no cost until the end of 2023.

The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 has a retail price of RM278,201.25 (on the road without insurance, inclusive of tax incentive). It comes with the standard 4 years unlimited Mercedes-Benz Warranty. The high-voltage battery has a warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first. If you opt to have the wallbox installed, you will have 2 years warranty by the manufacturer on it.

BMW Group Malaysia has added 2 new DC Fast Chargers at Tian Siang Premium Auto Butterworth and Tian Siang Premium Auto Ipoh, respectively, as part of its charging infrastructure expansion strategy to complement Malaysia’s commitment towards accelerating the adoption of electrified mobility.

Available for public use, the new DC Fast Chargers at Tian Siang Premium Auto Butterworth and Tian Siang Premium Auto Ipoh feature dual DC outlets (CCS: Combined Charging System) capable of up to 120 kW fast charging.BMW i_CCS DC Fast Charger_Tian Siang Premium Auto Ipoh

“Our expansion plans for our network of charging infrastructure in Malaysia has been a success thus far, having made available 8 BMW i Charging facilities at various authorised BMW dealerships in the first quarter of 2022 alone. By tackling common pain points of electric vehicle (EV) ownership in tandem with our electro-offensive this year, we are hopeful that the local perspective on electromobility will shift for the better,” commented Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

Tian Siang Premium Auto Butterworth_DC Fast Charger_BMW iMeanwhile, Tan Ka Kin, Dealer Principal of Tian Siang Premium Auto added, “As an authorised BMW i dealer in the northern region of Malaysia, we are thrilled to provide even more accessibility to not only our customers but the growing community of EV owners in Penang and Perak. The addition of these new DC Fast Chargers at our own dealerships allows us to further deliver the Premium Ownership Experience to our customers here, on top of the many BMW i charging facilities we have previously made available, in partnership with BMW Group Malaysia, across the northern region.”

If you are questioning why the automotive brands, dealers or other parties take so much time to add in just a few DC fast chargers, you have to realise that these things are not exactly in the same price range as a toaster. Even the wiring to power a DC fast charger isn’t just about pulling out the gang socket extension. This type of infrastructure is a long-term investment by these parties. And to be willing to make long term investments, these parties need to have confidence in the stability of government policies and goals.

SuperNice Express is the first express bus brand in Malaysia to order a Scania coach with a comprehensive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) for enhanced safety and peace of mind of its passengers. A lightly camouflaged Maserati Grecale has been sent to roam the streets prior to its official global debut in late March. The Grecale is the name of a strong northeast wind from the Mediterranean, and follows Maserati’s naming convention of using famous winds. This tradition started with the legendary Maserati Mistral in 1963. The Ghibli, Bora, Merak and Khamsin are all winds as well, as is the Levante, Maserati’s first SUV.Maserati Grecale_Front_Teaser

The Maserati Grecale is the smaller sibling of the Levante and the Trident’s second SUV model. It benefits from the engineering of the Innovation Lab in Modena for aerodynamics and performance.

In this teaser, the Grecale’s light camouflage reveals more of its actual looks. We can see the typical Maserati grille with vertical slats, more upright-oriented headlights, large air intakes, red brake calipers, and quad exhaust tips which hint at performance.

However, no details are available on the powertrain but it can be speculated to share the Alfa Romeo Stelvio’s choices of 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo with 280 hp and 415 Nm, and 2.9L twin turbo V6 with 505 hp and 600 Nm. Perhaps the 630 hp V6 Nettuno engine from the MC20 might be an option too. And with the current trend, we can expect at least one electrified version of the Grecale. The Grecale will come from the assembly plant in Cassino, Italy, where the Stelvio is also built.Maserati Grecale_Teaser_Side

The teaser livery also hints at the SUV’s specifications such as the Maserati Intelligent Assistant, digital cockpit, and storage space. The coordinates printed on the livery point to the Palazzina dei Giardini art museum in Modena. The clearest message is “Ciao. I’m the Maserati Grecale. I can’t tell you much more”.

The global premiere of the Maserati Grecale is scheduled for 22 March 2022.

At the ongoing MCVE 2022 show, Scania is showcasing some of its safety and sustainable transport solutions. This includes its New Truck Generation (NTG) with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), its Euro 5-compliant truck, as well as its B100 FAME-prepared coach. These products are a part the company’s goal to form sustainable partnerships in Malaysia and join it in achieving its Science-Based Target initiative for carbon neutrality.

For the customers who join Scania in this sustainable partnership, the brand’s transport solutions still ensure improved profitability in its customers’ business while caring for the environment.

Scania_Chemtrax_P-Series ADR TruckChemtrax Sdn Bhd, a logistics company based in Johor, entered into a sustainable partnership with Scania late last year. Chemtrax specialises in the transport of hazardous chemicals and purchased the first ADR Specification NTG model with ADAS. ADR is the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, a standard for carrying dangerous and hazardous materials.

The Scania P410A6x2NA bought buy Chemtrax is equipped with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) for added safety. LDW is a practical aid that warns the driver if the vehicle is about to cross the lane markers, when the turn indicators are not activated. The system automatically detects the lane markers and advises the driver when the vehicle combination is too close to the oncoming lane or verge / ditch markings. Meanwhile, AEB is a system that uses camera and radar to register what is happening in front of the vehicle. This system works to prevent a collision with the vehicle in front through automatic braking, or reduce the impact of collision.

Scania_Rollover Side Curtain AirbagThe implementation of ADAS in heavy commercial vehicles together with proper and authorised maintenance will reduce road accidents and casualties, reduce repair cost of road infrastructure caused by accidents, and reduce traffic congestion as a result of accidents. Other features of the New Truck Generation include a new chassis design, extended storage options, and enhanced safety features such as the award-winning rollover side curtain airbags, which is a first in Malaysia. Chemtrax had recently purchased 10 units of Scania NTG.

Scania_Xin Hwa Holdings_R Series Euro 5_Another Scania partner, logistics solutions provider Xin Hwa Holdings Berhad, became the first customer to receive Scania NTGs with Euro 5-compliant engines. Showcased here, a key feature amongst many Scania engine technologies in the Scania NTG Euro 5 R620A6x4NZ is the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system that reduces local emissions which contribute to smog and haze. In accordance with the EU emission standard, local emissions are measured for harmful Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) gases, and particulate matter (PM). The Extra High-Pressure Injection (XPI) in this model also enhances performance and fuel economy.

Notable safety features include the Electronic Braking System (EBS) for responsive emergency braking, while the retarder provides additional braking power. Additionally, the standard Opticruise gearbox gives the Scania NTG Euro V a pre-set default Economy mode for improved fuel efficiency.

Scania_Billion Stars Express_SHL CoachAnother Scania showcased is Billion Stars Express Sdn Bhd’s K360IB4x2 FAME-prepared coach that can run on B20 to B100 biodiesel. FAME stands for Fatty Acid Methyl Esters which is the technical term for the biodiesel produced in Malaysia. The FAME-prepared coach is environmentally-friendly. It produces less CO2 thus helping to lower emissions and slow down the effects of climate change. These Scania coaches come with safety technology, great comfort and reliability that every passenger talks about. The body of this 21-seat The Ark variant is built and fitted out for Billion Stars by established coachbuilder Sin Hock Leong Coach Works.

As the first major manufacturer of heavy commercial vehicles, Scania’s far-reaching climate targets have officially been approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). Scania is committed to achieving the set goals of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Scania will also cut CO2 emissions from its own operations by 50% by 2025 and reduce emissions from its products by 20% in the same period. All the Scania Total Solution offerings play their part in collectively achieving the SBTi target.

Scania R620 6x4_Euro 5“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers in our sustainable partnerships, especially the ones who are here today, together with Scania in showing that profitability and sustainability can go hand in hand. That is why Scania continues to be a leader in driving the shift towards a sustainable transport system together with our partners. We hope more will join us on this journey towards reaching our SBTi targets,” said Heba El Tarifi, Managing Director, Scania Southeast Asia.

Scania is also hosting the ‘A Good Driver’ Competition at the MCVE. This is an opportunity for the public to experience driving a Scania truck or bus and win some prizes. Winners are awarded prizes every 2 hours daily (up to 4 times).

MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN Malaysia) unveiled the MAN TGX flagship prime mover today at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2022. The TGX has won numerous awards such as International Truck of the Year 2021, and iF Design Award 2021. The high roof TGX is MAN Malaysia’s biggest truck model available in its Euro 5-compliant New Truck Generation product range. The TGX cab measures 2,440 mm in width, 2,280 mm in length and 2,150 mm in height.

It is designed for long-haul and cross-border trips and as such is built to maximise driving comfort and ergonomics. The spacious cabin has a standing height of 2,100 mm to ease the movement of the driver and co-driver. There is also a comfortable bed for breaks.

MAN TGX_Cabin_Driver's SeatAs this truck is meant for long trips, there is also ample storage within the cabin; about 520 litres’ worth. Driving ergonomics and safety is also enhanced with the MAN SmartSelect control knob which allows easy access to the truck’s features and functions. Safety features include Electronic Brake System (EBS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), MAN PriTarder braking system with MAN EVBec (Electronically Controlled Exhaust Valve Brake), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-slip Control (ASR), Distance-controlled tempomat (ACC / adaptive cruise control), Advanced Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), and Lane Guard System (LGS).

MAN_D2676 12.4L EnginePowering the MAN TGX is the proven MAN D2676 LF08 12.4L inline-6 diesel engine with 540 hp and 2,500 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 12-speed MAN TipMatic gearbox that promises excellent moving-off and gearshift strategy to optimise fuel consumption. It also offers high levels of driving and operating comfort. Like the MAN TGS range launched in November 2021, the engine in the TGX is also complies with the Euro 5 standards and as such has much lower carbon emissions to comply with the stricter Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria. MAN is the first truck brand in Malaysia to offer Euro 5 engines as standard across its product portfolio. This move is its contribution to help Malaysia achieve a carbon neutral status by 2050.

“We are effectively challenging the Malaysian transporters to join the journey and take the lead in reducing carbon emissions. In Europe, long distance transport vehicles produce as much as 27% of CO2 gases. Malaysia must look and act now to reduce its carbon footprint. The commercial industry as well as public service vehicles can do their part in this environmental challenge,” said Andrew O’Brooks, Managing Director of MAN Malaysia.

MAN TGX_Truck_Euro 5“As a manufacturer, MAN is doing its part to offer the right solution. Our New MAN Truck Generation with Euro 5 engines as standard is an all-new product range that leads the way in driver orientation, fuel efficiency, assistance systems, digital networking and above all, sustainability. The industry certainly needs to reinvest in new, future-proof trucks that meet these criteria especially in the current business environment that demands strict environmental, social and governance compliance. The strong uptake since its launch some 4 months ago shows that many Malaysian transporters are forward thinking and share our belief that we must do more for the environment now rather than later,” he added.

The MCVE a.k.a. Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2022 just opened its doors today at the Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) in Seri Kembangan. MCVE was initially scheduled to be held in 2021 but was affected by the pandemic, much like the industry it represents. “Today we celebrate a resilient industry. The pandemic has certainly put all of us to the test. A test that we have passed, thanks to the dedication of the transport industry,” commented Stefan Pertz, organiser of MCVE 2022.

Volvo FM_TrucksThis year’s MCVE highlights the resilience and importance of the logistics and mass transportation sector, which serves as the backbone of the economy. “Not only are we celebrating the innovations and brands that have been brought together here at the show, but also every single driver, supplier to the industry, associations and authorities,” added Pertz. MCVE is the first andn largest commercial vehicles expo series ever held in Malaysia, focusing on future transport solutions in the commercial vehicles industry.

Our infrastructure is geared to take on the challenges that lay ahead of us as the country enters a stage of economic recovery. In line with the increased demand for transportation services, we require smart solutions. I am therefore, excited to see the latest products offered here at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle industry as these will be instrumental in facilitating and enhancing our economy,” said YB Dato’ Henry Sum Agong, Deputy Minister of Transport who officially launched the event.

MCVE_Scania_Chemtrax“The last 2 years in particular have seen a renewed understanding and appreciation of the drivers: bus captains and truck pilots. The MCVE honours them with activities for those that take time out of their schedules to get involved with the exhibitors to learn about their future tools of the trade. Society has also acknowledged that drivers can make a difference when it comes to the reduction of harmful emissions and the reduction of wastage. “We appeal to all of you to support our drivers in their ambition to further their skills and to be the best they can be. While the machine is certainly a crucial asset, it is the human that, still, remains as having the biggest impact to the bottom line, being it in monetary terms or achieving global goals, such as emission reduction,” Pertz said.

This 5th instalment of the biennial expo represents a central event for the industry to exchange views, enhance rapport and sell their products and services. In supporting an event like the MCVE, the Ministry of Transport is also determined in providing an efficient, affordable, clean and carbon neutral ecosystem, and work on drastically reducing road fatalities.

MCVE_YonMingAs the economy starts to find its way out of the pandemic phase, it is natural to see a smaller event being held. Nonetheless, this year’s event sees 45 exhibitors gather to showcase their latest products and services. In comparison, the pre-pandemic MCVE 2019 had 60 exhibitors. “I am delighted to see the participation of the leading brands such as MAN Truck & Bus as Gold Sponsor, Hap Seng Trucks Distribution as Sponsor, Caltex being the Official Lubricant, Scania Malaysia, Volvo Trucks Malaysia, PETRONAS Steelbro, Hammar, CIMC, CAMC, YonMing and Michelin,” noted Pertz.

Other international brands participating include Geotab, MCVE’s Telematics Partner; Hengst, Mann+Hummel’s Singapore and Drive Risk from Australia. Hengst is also the sponsor of a R&R section at the event.

“Malaysia ought to leverage on effective adoption of safer and greener commercial vehicle technologies. While gearing for greater economic growth, we are bound to strive for a sustainable, safe and efficient logistics industry in Malaysia and the region, ” said Professor Dr. Wong Shaw Voon, Chairman, MIROS Board of Directors, who was also present during the event.

“As a delegate you will find that this year’s event is having a slightly different feeling from our usual shows. While we are certainly all very enthusiastic, we have to ensure the safety of everyone. Therefore, the fringe programme has been adjusted accordingly. However, we are confident in saying that there is a lot going on and that there will be a lot to be seen. It is thanks to our exhibitors that have given us the vote of confidence in the event,” Pertz said.

The MCVE 2022 show will be on from 10 to 12 March 2022. Entry is free, but registration at the venue via QR code is necessary.
