Proton e.Mas 7 To Make Appearance At Malaysia’s 67th National Day Parade In Putrajaya
PROTON is sending a fleet of cars to take part in Malaysia’s 67th National Day parade and will include the Proton e.Mas 7. This will mark the first public debut of its first national electric vehicle which is scheduled for its official launch later this year.
The Proton e.MAS 7 will be part of a special 25-car contingent celebrating PROTON’s rich heritage, showcasing models ranging from the original Proton Saga to the newly launched Proton X70 (which coincidentally had an official unveiling just a couple of days ago in East Malaysia). Adorned in a special livery representing the colours of the Jalur Gemilang, the e.Mas 7 will take centrestage, offering the public a glimpse of Malaysia’s automotive future.
“While celebrating our past, PROTON is also mindful to look ahead into the future of the automotive industry,” said Dr. Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON. “Hence, we took the decision to include the Proton e.Mas 7 in our parade lineup, though it has not been launched, to allow everyone to get a closer look at the company’s first EV model. As the model is not the final production vehicle, it will be displayed wearing camouflage, but in the National Day spirit, we have chosen colours that represent Malaysia’s flag”. At a media preview in early August, the e.Mas 7 was dress in a blue-black livery.
The inclusion of the e.Mas 7 in the National Day parade symbolises not just a technological milestone but also the brand’s forward-looking vision as it embraces the electric mobility era. The event provides a platform for PROTON to showcase the progress made over the past 4 decades and to highlight the significance of this new EV model, which is seen as a game-changer for the national carmaker.
Leading up to the parade, PROTON has intensified testing and optimisation efforts for the e.Mas 7, focusing on durability, climate adaptation, charging and software testing. This extensive groundwork is crucial to ensuring the e.MAS 7 meets both local and international standards.
The Proton e.MAS 7 is developed concurrently with the Geely group’s version, which allows for greater cost efficiency and a shorter lead time on right-hand-drive development. “The ultimate proof of success for this undertaking will be the reception of buyers in Malaysia and our export markets and to ensure a favourable outcome, PROTON is leaving no stone unturned in the model’s development, marketing, sales, and aftersales efforts,” added Dr Li Chunrong.
