2024 Proton X50 Gets Feature Updates With No Change In Price
PROTON has introduced the 2024 Proton X50 featuring updates to the popular award-winning B-segment SUV, and marking another step forward in the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. Since its launch in 2020, the Proton X50 has been a success story for the company, with over 110,000 units sold, cementing its position as the best-selling SUV in Malaysia over the past 4 years. Its popularity mirrors that of the Geely Binyue, the left-hand drive Geely model which it is based on, that has achieved sales of over 770,000 units globally. Now, the introduction of a series of upgrades for the 2024 X50 promises an even more technologically advanced and refined driving experience, with no change in price.

Building on its predecessor’s legacy as a trailblazer in the SUV category, the 2024 Proton X50 sets a new standard with upgrades to address customer feedback. One key enhancement is a new noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) package which offers a quieter and more refined experience. Over 20 areas of the vehicle have been improved for better road noise insulation and improved overall cabin ambiance. Other updated features include a powered tailgate for the Premium and Flagship variants for more convenience; a 10.3″ infotainment head unit, standard across the range, with new dual quad-core processor unit with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM allowing for 33% faster bootup speed and 55% faster loading. The more powerful unit allows for seamless operation of multiple apps in the foreground and background without any risk of laggy response. It also enables the popular “Hi PROTON” voice command and PROTON Link app functions, which includes the ability to start the engine and cool the cabin remotely (Executive and above).
The 2024 Proton X50 (except the Standard) also delivers an ideal combination of safety and convenience with a new high-definition 360-degree camera which displays crystal clear images even in low light conditions. When the signal stalk is activated, a 3D view of the vehicle’s surroundings will appear on the infotainment display for the driver to safely make lane change manoeuvres (this safety feature works up to 150 km/h). Furthermore, an Auto Park Assist function is available to park and un-park the X50.
Powering the Proton X50 Flagship is the 1.5L turbocharged direct injection 3-cylinder engine with an output of 177 PS (175 hp) and 255 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The combination enables the X50 Flagship to achieve a 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. The other variants run a 1.5L turbo multi-point injection 3-cylinder engine which produces 150 PS (148 hp) and 226 Nm. In terms of safety, the X50 is fitted with 6 SRS airbags (4 airbags in the Standard), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), as well as Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) in the Flagship.
The 2024 Proton X50 is available in 5 colours i.e. Snow White, Jet Grey, Armour Silver, Ocean Blue and Passion Red. Buyers will enjoy a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, 6x Free labour for service, 5-year data package (1 GB/month), PROTON Insurance Programme, and financing rates from 2.28% per annum.
Furthermore, the first 5,000 buyers who book and register a new X50 by 31 July 2024 will enjoy a RM7,000 cash discount (not applicable for Standard), and up to RM1,500 overtrade support for trade-in.
