Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2024: Highlighting Future Transport Solutions

The 6th edition of the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE), the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, was officially launched today at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC). Officiated by the Minister of Transport, YB Loke Siew Fook, the MCVE will be held over 3 days (i.e. until Saturday, 11 May). With local and international brands participating, MCVE 2024 highlights future transport solutions within the commercial vehicle industry and ESG (environmental, social & governance) practices. Against the backdrop of an increasingly digitalized landscape and the shift towards electrification and the adoption of ESG principles, this year’s exhibition sees a notable rise in exhibitor participation compared to the previous one held amidst the challenges of the pandemic in 2022. This accelerated momentum towards innovation and sustainability within road transportation sees quite a few exhibitors showcasing innovative and groundbreaking products and services. “We are grateful for the support we have received and it is especially encouraging that we have managed to attract more brands to be exhibiting here than in the last instalment of our home-grown event series,” said Stefan Pertz, Organiser of MCVE 2024. Acknowledging the pivotal role of technology adaptation in meeting heightened client expectations, Stefan emphasised the imperative for players within the road transport segment to embrace technological advancements.

Expo Gold Sponsor, MAN Truck & Bus Malaysia, took the opportunity presented by MCVE to introduce its MAN TGE Van as a versatile daily transport solution. As one of the best-selling vans in Europe, MAN expects the TGE to make an impact in Malaysia when it is launched. Powered by a fuel-efficient and low-emission 2.0L turbodiesel engine, the MAN TGE is easily customisable. It can take various forms e.g. Panel Van, Chassis Cab, Crew Cab, Combi Van or Mini Bus, depending on the application requirement. “MAN is delighted to be a part of MCVE once again.  We had a wonderful outing in 2022 when we wowed the crowd with our EURO V specification MAN Trucks, including our flagship MAN TGX.  This time around, we are delighted to present the full range of MAN low-emission commercial vehicles for the first time in Malaysia, with the MAN TGE Van making its debut,” said MAN Malaysia Managing Director, Andrew O’Brooks. The TGE Van on display is kitted out as a campervan.

PETRONAS Lubricants International, the Official Lubricant Partner of MCVE, is showcasing its Fluid Technology Solutions tailored for the commercial and industrial sectors. These solutions, encompassing products such as PETRONAS Urania and PETRONAS Tutela, offer businesses tangible benefits including reduced fuel costs and enhanced fleet efficiency. Furthermore, the integration of PETRONAS SmartPay, a fleet management solution, underscores PETRONAS’ commitment to driving operational excellence and cost efficiency for fleets, with its large network of service stations. Meanwhile, German filtration expert, Hengst, is leveraging the exhibition to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hengst Asia Pacific. “People make markets. If we want to understand markets and clients, we have to work in the markets rather than on the markets. This is more time consuming than any excel spread sheet analysis but will allow insides no data will,” said Frank Maergner, Sales Director, Hengst Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. Hengst will also be recognising business partners in an award presentation as part of the Asian Trucker Networking Night Powered by Hengst on Friday, 10 May.

Other notable exhibitors at MCVE 2024 include established market players such as CelcomDigi, Angka-Tan Motors, Allegiance Malaysia, YonMing, HAMMAR, ZF, HYVA and Tenming. “Companies exhibiting here are a solid representation of the eco-system that is needed to run successful and efficient road transport operations,” added Pertz. Some of these brands have been a part of MCVE since 2013.

Beyond the exhibition floor, MCVE 2024 also reintroduced its fringe programmes, offering attendees opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and industry insights. Highlighting the significance of events such as the Asian Trucker Networking Night, Pertz emphasised MCVE’s role as a catalyst for industry collaboration and innovation.

This year’s MCVE also highlights the era of electrification within the transport industry. A number of exhibits related to electric trucks and electrification are being introduced to the Malaysian market for the first time.

MCVE 2024 welcomes visitors from 10 AM to 7 PM from 9 – 11 May. Admission is free.
