CAM Kingo 6AT Van Launched AT MCVE 2024

If you have a large family to move, or if you’re in the habit of ferrying many passengers, then check out the CAM Kingo 6AT van at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2024 at The Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC). The MCVE is happening until 11 May (Saturday).

The CAM Kingo 6AT is the latest variant from R&A Marketing Sdn Bhd (a part of the Sendok Group) which is the sole distributor of CAM and King Long vehicles in Malaysia.

The Kingo 6AT is available in either 15-seater or the Kingo Plus 18-seater format. Both variants are powered by a 2.4L commonrail turbo diesel engine that is Euro 5 compliant. The low emission engine is derived from the Y platform designed by AVL, a mobility technology company, with its unique selling points being lightweight and longer oil change intervals (20,000 km). The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox (with uphill/downhill & high/low temperature assistance functions) and produces 145 PS (143 hp) @ 2,800 rpm and 400 Nm @ 1,400 – 2,000 rpm. The powertrain also offers 3 driving modes i.e. Automatic, Manual and Sport. Using a clutch-to-clutch control, the transmission offers smoother shifting and performance to optimise fuel efficiency.

The 15-seater variant has a slightly shorter wheelbase (3,110 mm vs 3,720 mm), and thus also has a shorter body (5,470 mm vs 5,998 mm). Width, height and ground clearance are the same for both at 1,885 mm, 2,285 mm and 169 mm respectively. Consequently, the turning radius differs with the 15-seater at 6.15 metres and the 18-seater, 7.25 metres.

The van comes with halogen projection headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16″ alloy wheels, and dual sliding doors for versatility. Inside, all seats have 3-point seat belts and the last row can be hung to expand luggage capacity. Under the seats are a total of 13 and 16 USB ports. Other notable interior features are double cooling coil units at the rear (with either 6 or 9 vents) for faster cabin cooling, 6 stereo speakers, 10″ touch screen with Bluetooth and phone mirroring, front powered windows, intermittent wipers and anti-glare rear view mirror. The van is also equipped with reverse sensor and reverse camera.

Safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and dual airbags. Additionally, the monocoque body has high-strength sway bars and buffer beams.

The CAM Kingo 6AT 15-seater is priced at RM144,800 while the Kingo Plus 6AT 18-seater is RM164,800. It can be driven with a regular D license and applications include personal use, or as a tour / school / factory bus, ambulance, or utility van.

The Kingo is covered by a 6-year (or 200,000 km) warranty and is supported by a 24/7 hotline, free nationwide towing service (within warranty period), and 65 CAM service dealers nationwide.
