Bermaz Motor And Mazda Owners Give Back To Society

Bermaz Motor, and its generous supporters and Mazda owners recently pooled together their resources to give back to society. The 8th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament for Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF) was hosted by Bermaz, the sole distributor of Mazda vehicles, to raise funds for the needy.

The objective of the Mazda Medicare Fund is to provide humanitarian aid and medical relief to the underprivileged throughout Malaysia. The fund has been actively supporting charitable causes involving old folk’s homes, orphanages, and persons with disabilities, etc, through financial aid and charity events.Mazda Charity Golf Tournament For Mazda Medicare Fund_Bermaz_Gleenmarie

This year’s fundraiser tournament was held at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam and managed to raise RM509,183 through the generous support of the 144 participants, donors and sponsors. The proceeds will be distributed through the MMF. The MMF team carefully selects and vets charitable organisations to ensure that all donations are put to good use. Furthermore, the MMF team is made up of volunteers within the Bermaz organisation and thus no additional costs are incurred for MMF’s operations. This allows for all donations received to go to where it matters i.e. those in need.

The MMF was established in 2015 and is jointly managed by Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd and in collaboration with B. Braun Avitum Renal Services, to provide life-saving haemodialysis treatment for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients with financial constraints.

Currently, there are 13 B. Braun’s dialysis centres operating nationwide and eligible patients would receive subsidised haemodialysis treatments. In the past 6 years, MMF has contributed a total of RM3.6 million, which has supported over 266 patients throughout Malaysia.

For the 8th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament, the MMF also made contributions to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital TKPKMM (Tabung Kebajikan Penyakit Kanser Mount Mariam) of Penang, Pusat Jagaan Titian OKU Nur and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Perlindungan Jothi Viyasar Negeri Sembilan. Bermaz also expressed its gratitude for the unwavering support from its valued customers, business partners, donors and sponsors to the MMF initiative to help those in need.

As an aside, the MMF also raises funds via the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC). Introduced in 2018, the RM100 fee charged to Mazda owners who sign up for the privilege card is donated to MMF. As such, Mazda owners will not only be supporting the underprivileged, but will also get to enjoy a tax exemption from Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN).

According to Bermaz, the MPC has received heart-warming support from Mazda owners for its noble cause. Donations to the MMF continue to increase thanks to the generous contributions of social responsibility-conscious Mazda owners who continue to engage with Bermaz Motor through various charitable programmes. To reciprocate, Bermaz offers all MPC holders 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and official merchandise, along with a 5% discount on labour charges (applicable at Mazda showrooms and service centres operated by Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu only).
