Modenas Ninja 250, Ninja 250 ABS & Z 250 ABS Bikes Launched

Edaran Modenas Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd, has launched 3 motorcycles i.e. Modenas Ninja 250, Modenas Ninja 250 ABS and Modenas Z 250 ABS. These sports bike and naked bike models, under new distributor Edaran Modenas, essentially reintroduces the Kawasaki brand to Malaysia.

Kawasaki Motors Ltd had been a shareholder of MODENAS since the company’s inception in 1995 and as such have a long history together. It had held a 19% stake in MODENAS, which was increased to 30% in 2019 (the balance is owned by DRB-HICOM Berhad). Subsequent to this, it is agreed that all Kawasaki motorcycle models with capacity of 650 cc and below will be rebranded and sold under the Modenas brand.

All 3 newly introduced models are locally assembled and share a 4-stroke 2-cylinder 4-valve DOHC 250 cc engine producing 27.5 kW @ 12,500 rpm and 23 Nm @ 10,000 rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed return with a wet multi-disc clutch. As per their names, one of the bike models comes without Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). However, the Assist and Slipper Clutch feature, Ergo Fit components, the Economical Riding Indicator, and LED headlight and tail light are standard across the board.

The retail prices and list of colours available are:

Modenas Ninja 250 (2022): RM18,900 – Metallic Carbon Grey and Metallic Matte Graphite
Modenas Ninja 250 ABS (2022): RM20,500 – Metallic Matte Graphite Grey
Modenas Z250 ABS (2022): RM19,500 – Metallic Spark Black
