Hyundai Resale Value In Malaysia On Par With Japanese Makes

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has shared that it is seeing the resale value of Hyundai vehicles in Malaysia becoming on par to similar Japanese makes. This positive change is largely due to the increase in demand for pre-owned Hyundai cars over the last 5 years.

“The difference in the selling price of a 5-year-old Hyundai model in comparison with the likes of a Japanese model is marginal. The same goes for the depreciation value of both makes after 5 years which is about 10% per year,” said Mr Low Yuan Long, Managing Director of HSDM. He said this improvement in value is in tandem with Hyundai gaining market share globally and in winning a series of global awards for its cars. Thus, the perception that Hyundai cars have substantially lower resale value does not hold much credence nowadays.

“Hyundai has come a long way to prove itself to be a reliable car brand that is of superior quality. Hyundai models today are not just good looking, but they are also equipped with the latest innovation that is at par with premium continental brands, which is why they are in demand,” he added.

To further enhance consumer confidence in the brand, HSDM also certifies pre-owned cars through its Hyundai Promise programme. The Hyundai Promise provides assurance that all pre-owned Hyundai models sold via HSDM use only genuine parts and are free of major accidents. Trained technicians carry out stringent and rigorous inspections to ensure that all the used vehicles are in optimal electrical and mechanical condition before they bear the Hyundai Promise stamp of approval.

All approved and certified used Hyundai vehicles come with an extended warranty of between 2 – 5 years, depending on the age of the vehicle and the mileage clocked. All pre-owned cars are covered by manufacturer’s and dealer’s warranty as well as a 24-hour road assistance service. Additionally, selected pre-owned units also come with a free service maintenance package.

The vehicles are also refurbished to mint condition for better peace of mind. Currently, nearly all listed pre-owned Hyundai models under the Hyundai Promise have been sold.
