Honda City Hatchback Coming To Malaysia Very Soon
Honda Malaysia is now accepting bookings for the all-new Honda City Hatchback at all its authorised dealerships nationwide, which means it will be launched before 2021 ends. The City Hatchback is conceptualised as an energetic hatchback with cutting-edge styling and a sporty feel.
It will be offered with 2 powertrain options i.e. e:HEV and petrol. The City Hatchback RS e:HEV is powered by the 1.5L Sports intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) powertrain which provides power and response through 2 electric motors for enhanced drivability and efficiency. The e:HEV features Honda’s unique hybrid system that functions seamlessly and combines the benefits of petrol engines and electric motors for improved fuel efficiency and power. This advanced powertrain delivers 109 PS and a segment-leading 253 Nm of torque. The amount of torque available is equivalent to a petrol-powered D-segment engine. On the other hand, the petrol variant of the City Hatchback is powered by a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC powertrain. This engine produces the highest power in its class with 121 PS, and a maximum torque of 145 Nm, to offer a balance of performance and fuel efficiency for a hatchback.
“The introduction of the All-New City Hatchback is a key milestone for Honda in Malaysia as it is the first time the Company is offering the City model in a hatchback body type. Hatchbacks are well-known for its sporty and cool design in a compact size, which also gives an impression of a car that is easy to be driven everywhere. Additionally, new age hatchback cars are also developed to deliver optimum performance that is comparable with sedans and SUVs. Honda Malaysia now offers customers with best in class torque performance as well as advanced technological features, all housed in the stylish and sporty All-New City Hatchback,” said Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Madoka Chujo.
Ms. Chujo added, “Nevertheless, Honda is not new to the hatchback segment in Malaysia as the popular Jazz which was introduced back in 2003 has sold more than 122,000 units to date. The Jazz is well-known for its practicality and versatility, and is highly popular as one of Malaysians’ favourite urban car. We believe with the introduction of the All-New City Hatchback, this model will raise the benchmark to be another game-changer in the market and soon to be Malaysians’ favourite hatchback car.”
The Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV sports a High-Gloss Piano Black Front Grille, Black Solid Wing and Gloss Black Door Mirrors, for a dual tone colour theme. It will also feature RS exclusive look in the Lower Grille, Fog Garnish and Rear Bumper. The Rear Bumper is specifically designed for hatchbacks and fitted with a diffuser, making the rear look ‘lighter’. Further, the exterior of the City Hatchback RS e:HEV and V variants have LED Headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED Front Fog Lights, LED Rear Combi Lights and 16″ Alloy Wheels.
Like the Honda Jazz, the City Hatchback will also have the 4-Mode ULTRA Seat. This practical and versatile feature allows the rear seats to be folded flat or flipped up in 4 configuration modes i.e. Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh, to suit different needs of carrying cargo. Another first-in-segment feature is Remote Engine Start (RS e:HEV & V only), which enables you to remotely activate the engine and air-conditioning before entering the car. Other notable features include Rear Air Conditioning Ventilation, and Electric Parking Brake (EPB) (exclusively available in the RS e:HEV).
The City Hatchback is also the first in its segment to offer the most complete package of Next Generation Advanced Safety Technology. The Honda SENSING system uses a front wide view camera to better recognise road boundaries during day and night. The Honda SENSING driver assistance safety systems for the RS e:HEV variant includes:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Auto High Beam (AHB)
Another segment-first feature is Honda LaneWatch (only for the RS e:HEV & V) which is a camera-based safety feature that reduces blind spots by providing real-time visual in the infotainment system when the left turn signal is activated or LaneWatch button is pressed.
