Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (MODENAS) has launched the 2020 Modenas Elegan 250 scooter updated with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). This facelifted maxi-scooter has a retail price of RM15,315, the most value-for-money scooter in its segment. The Elegan 250 ABS is covered by a two-year / 20,000 km warranty. Colour choices are Satin Matte Red and Satin Matte Black.
The new Modenas Elegan 250 ABS is powered by a fuel injected, 4-stroke, single-cylinder SOHC 250 cc engine that produces 16.5 kW @ 7,000 rpm and 22.4 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. It uses a liquid cooling system for improved cooling performance, providing the engine with better protection and durability.
The Elegan 250 ABS variant is also fitted with a multi-function digital speedometer for improved readability. The display offers a myriad of information not commonly available even in higher-priced models e.g. tripmeter, digital clock, battery voltage indicator and oil service reminder.
Another convenient feature is the USB charger socket fitted near the handlebar, allowing you to charge your smartphone on the go.
Like its name suggests, the Elegan 250 ABS comes with ABS. The scooter uses a dual-channel ABS from Bosch that prevents the wheels from locking up and provides superior stopping power in all weather conditions. The Elegan 250 ABS also offers a safer and more comfortable ride with a high rigidity frame, and a trailing swing arm that gives the rider and pillion a more stable ride.
Further, it gets a more refined projector headlamp with LED daytime running lights that aids visibility for both the rider and other road users at any time of day. The tail light has a signature ‘X’ shape to enhance visibility and provide some distinction.
As a maxi-scooter, the Modenas Elegan 250 ABS offers more comfort and practicality. Its storage compartment under the seat is large enough for two helmets, or some groceries, or a weekend bag. It also features LED illumination for convenience. Furthermore, the seating for the pillion is elevated to provide comfort for both, while its floorboard is designed for more flexible feet positioning to improve comfort on long rides.
“The launch of the ABS variant of the Modenas Elegan 250 provides Malaysian customers with more choices especially in the maxi-scooter segment. ABS is increasingly becoming one of the most important and useful safety features in the motorcycle world, and coupled with the variant’s other enhancements, I am confident that it will prove to be a success in the market,” said Roslan Roskan, Chief Executive Officer of MODENAS. Roslan is confident that the Elegan 250 ABS will make an impact in the local motorcycle market. He is also optimistic about MODENAS’ business performance amidst the current pandemic.
“While the COVID-19 situation remains uncertain in the country, MODENAS has been working hard over the past months to make up for lost time due to the various disruptions as a result of the pandemic. However, we are planning for more launches which we believe will help us end the year on a stronger footing,” he added.
