Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Introduces Locally Assembled AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced a locally-assembled GLC variant to its line of luxury performance cars. The new Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé pairs luxury appeal with AMG racing pedigree that the performance brand is renowned for. The recommended retail price of this model is RM498,722.77 (on the road without insurance), during the sales tax exemption period ending on 31 December 2020.
Powering the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé is a 3.0L V6 biturbo engine dressed with red aluminium insert and AMG badging, and tuned to give an additional 23 hp, making it 390 hp; peak torque is 520 Nm and is available between 2,500 – 5,000 rpm. The higher output comes courtesy of some tweaks to the vehicle’s software. Further, the larger standalone turbocharger units are mounted close to the engine and respond swiftly, guaranteeing exceptional performance. 
Engine power is transferred to the wheels via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed automatic transmission. The GLC 43’s claimed 0 – 100 km/h acceleration is 4.9 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The multiple downshift function allows for more exhillarating bursts of speed, while the double declutching function in Sport and Sport+ drive programmes gives a more dynamic driving experience.
Moreover, the AMG Performance 4MATIC four-wheel drive has a rear-biased torque distribution with a front:rear axle split of 31:69. This configuration provides for better driving dynamics and improved traction on acceleration. The single-stage transfer case of the four-wheel drive system is flange-mounted to the transmission as a separate system.
There are five drive programs to choose from: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. Using these allows the characteristics of the vehicle to be individualised according to driving style. The programmes modify key parameters, such as the response of the engine, transmission, suspension and steering.
Controlling the ride comfort is the AMG RIDE CONTROL+ system which is based on the AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension with AMG-specific Adaptive Damping System (ADS PLUS). The multi-chamber air suspension offers a very broad spread between the most comfortable and the sportiest set-up, while adapting to the current load. Thanks to the pneumatic all-round level control system, the vehicle level remains constant, independently of the load it is carrying. At high speeds, the vehicle goes lower to reduce wind resistance and increase stability.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé also features the Mercedes-Benz Driving Assistance Package. The package includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and PRE-SAFE® system. Adding to that is the 360° camera which gives a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings.
Physically, the GLC Coupé gets an AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical chrome-plated fins flanked by the MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus. The SUV is dressed in the AMG Night package, with selected exterior elements finished in high-gloss black, for a more aggressive appearance. From the side, the accentuated side sill panels give an illusion of lowering and elongating the whole vehicle. Rounding off the sporty look are the 21″ AMG 5 twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with AMG lettering.
Similarly sporty in the interior, the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé features sports seats in the front. The upholstery is a combination of black ARTICO man-made leather and DINAMICA microfibre, with a distinctive red top stitching for the seats. The AMG flat-bottomed steering wheel is wrapped in nappa microfibre, with perforations in the grip area. Ergonomically positioned Touch Control buttons ensure intuitive user-friendliness for more focused driving. Furthermore, despite its coupé body style, the GLC 43 still manages to offer plenty of space for passengers and luggage. 
The latest version of the MBUX infotainment system with Mercedes me connect further enhances the SUV’s
convenience. The infotainment system can be accessed via the touchpad, Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel, gesture control or the “Hey Mercedes” voice control. The driver receives visual information via the 12.3″ instrument cluster and the 10.25″ touchscreen display.
