More Petronas Stations To Feature Makan@Mesra Concept

Last year, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) introduced a new eatery concept at one of its Petronas stations in Ampang. With encouraging response, it began to roll out this concept to other stations. The Makan@Mesra at PETRONAS Station Taman Setiawangsa is a new eatery corner within the newly designed Kedai Mesra. It offers convenient yet fresh and well-balanced premium food, with most items priced below RM12.

The new concept is part of PDB’s continuous effort to grow its non-fuel business and elevate customer experience at its Kedai Mesra through the expansion of products and services. With the introduction of Makan@Mesra, the Kedai Mesra will now see an expanded range of food and beverage items including freshly-baked pastries, daily-prepared meals-to-go, desserts and drinks.

Additionally, the refurbished Kedai Mesra now boasts an open chiller, self-serve coffee machine and microwave oven for convenience. The interior has also been remodeled to be more cosy as part of the company’s effort in providing a more holistic customer experience.

Petronas_service station“We first piloted this concept at the PETRONAS Station Jalan Kolam Ayer in Ampang last year and saw an increase demand for food-on-the-go. With this proof-of-concept, we are confident to expand this further so that more customers get to enjoy the new retail experience at our stations,” said PDB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Azrul Osman Rani. “To date, we have seven stations offering this new concept and we are targeting to expand to 15 more by the end of the year, and to over 200 stations by end of 2021,” he added.

New items on the menu include club and beef sandwiches, salad with snow white fish or smoked salmon, grilled chicken chop, kung pao chicken with rice, English trifle, bread-butter pudding, overnight oats and mixed fruits. All these items are sourced from local suppliers with an emphasis on quality and fresh ingredients. This is also in line with PDB’s commitment in promoting local entrepreneurs through its Love Local Campaign.

In addition, it also carries local favourites from local small-to-medium suppliers such as sparkling fresh juice from Tapping Tapir, Nasi Lemak Saleha and local kuih by Sri Talamaz.

With the introduction of Makan@Mesra, we are enhancing the experience and expanding it beyond breakfast with more quality offerings to ensure our customers have ready-to-eat well-balanced meals throughout the day. We look forward to expanding the menu as we discover more potential local suppliers with offerings that align well with our Makan@Mesra concept”.

The new Makan@Mesra is available at Petronas Jalan Kolam Ayer; Petronas MRR2 Ampang; Petronas Cyberjaya 1; Petronas Mutiara Damansara; Petronas Kota Kemuning; Petronas Kota Damansara and Petronas Taman Setiawangsa.
