PRO-NET Expands EV Charging Infrastructure Across Malaysia
With the increasing demand for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), PRO-NET, the distributor for smart EVs in Malaysia, had initiated an expansion of its charging infrastructure network. This expansion will contribute to accelerating the adoption as well as facilitate more convenient travel for EV owners.
Since the introduction of the PROTON DC charger at its headquarters in October of last year, PRO-NET has taken proactive steps to expand the charging infrastructure across its PROTON Edar dealerships. By partnering Gentari, a green mobility solutions provider, PRO-NET has successfully deployed 6 DC chargers. Each comes with 2 nozzles making it 12 charging bays in total. This rollout includes one unit each of 50 kW, 100 kW, and 120 kW, as well as 3 units of 60 kW DC chargers.
This expansion represents a significant addition to the existing smart dealership network. Across Peninsular Malaysia, the installation of 5 DC chargers and 13 AC Chargers have resulted in a current total of 22 charging bays within the dealer network. PRO-NET also has plans to extend its footprint towards the east, with eventually introducing additional charging infrastructure as part of its dealership expansion network in Sabah.
What PRO-NET and smart also offers to owners is the integrated convenience of its “Hello smart” app. It is a pioneer in introducing such groundbreaking features in Malaysia as an integrated charging map that helps to address range anxiety. As a result of strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as chargEV, JomCharge, and Gentari, currently over 70% of public charging points, besides those at the smart and PROTON Edar dealerships, are accessible through the Hello smart app. The app also provides real-time updates on charging points, including availability status, ensuring a hassle-free charging experience for users. You would also be able to effortlessly access the charging map from PROTON Edar and Smart Malaysia dealerships. The Hello smart App is available for download on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
In line with its Global Sustainability Strategy and its dedication to promoting sustainable transportation solutions, PRO-NET also invites owners of other EV brands to utilise its charging facilities. However, do take note that access to chargers at the Hap Seng dealership is presently reserved solely for smart and Mercedes-Benz owners.
“As PRO-NET advances into new markets, we are steadfast in asserting our leadership in this rapidly evolving sector. With our robust ecosystem of digital solutions, exemplified by the Hello smart App, and the continuous expansion of charging facilities, we are not just keeping pace; we are driving the movement towards modern urban living. Each strategic initiative underscores our commitment to providing innovative solutions that deliver unparalleled convenience and sustainability for EV owners nationwide,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.
