Perodua Contributes 50 Myvi to Bomba and Higher Learning Institutions

Rawang, 7 December 2018: Perodua has contributed a total of 50 units of Perodua Myvi to the Perak State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and 25 higher learning institutions (HLI), in the company’s largest scale vehicle donation thus far.

Perodua President & CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, Perodua Eco Challenge 2017This vehicle donation is aimed to aid these parties in their research and training. “We are donating seven current-generation Myvis and 43 previous-generation Myvis to these organisations in the hope that they will be useful in their research, training and education,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh at the handover ceremony in Perodua’s headquarters.

The said 25 HLIs comprise universities as well as vocational, technical, industrial training and youth skills institutes. “As a People First company, Perodua has always believed in empowering youth through education, as they are Malaysia’s future leaders and future drivers of the local automotive industry. Some of our many educational initiatives include the Perodua Eco Challenge and the Perodua Youth Training Programme, which is our longest-running Corporate Responsibility programme, having produced over 630 graduates since 1999,” said the President and CEO.

This year, Perodua graduated 141 candidates that it trained in collaboration with the Human Resources Ministry’s Department of Skills Development (JPK) towards receiving Malaysian Skills Certification (SKM) for technical and vocational competence. Over 70% of them will take on roles at Perodua service and Body & Paint centres in various locations nationwide.

It is therefore the perfect vehicle for local research and training as it is the most accurate representation of a vehicle on Malaysian roads,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar added.

The Perodua Myvi recently won an award in the Entry-Level Segment at the 2018 Malaysia Car of the Year Awards, hosted by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI).
