Shell Malaysia Introduces ‘Made For Malaysia’ Helix Engine Oil Label With Unique QR Codes

In its effort to protect consumers and its trade partners, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd has introduced a new ‘Made For Malaysia’ label for official and genuine Shell Helix engine oil products meant for sale in Malaysia. This range of ‘Made For Malaysia’ engine oils are also blended and packed locally at Shell’s Lubricant Oil Blending Plant in Port Dickson, so in addition to safeguarding consumers and trade partners, Shell has also created local employment opportunities.

The Helix range with the new ‘Made For Malaysia’ labels are:

  • Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 (4L)
  • Shell Helix HX7 10W-40 (4L)
  • Shell Helix HX7 5W-30 (4L)
  • Shell Helix HX5 10W-30 (3L)
  • Shell Helix HX5 15W-40 (4L)

The new label can be peeled back at the top right corner to reveal a unique QR code which you can scan for quick product authentication. The label at the back also contains information in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.

The QR code also allows for easy registration for the Shell Advantage Rewards (SHARE) programme which rewards you with goodies that include a sign-up bonus, Shell Helix Engine Warranty (SHEW) and free Shell Helix products. After registration, the authentication result will be shown on the SHARE product verification page and sent throught SMS.

“The presence of counterfeit and unauthorised products in the market is affecting customer confidence and negatively impacting our trade partners’ business. The decision to commence local production of official genuine Shell Helix products meant exclusively for the Malaysian market and clearly identify them with the new ‘Made For Malaysia’ labels, is a key step to address the issue,” said Shell Malaysia Managing Director, Shairan Huzani Husain.

The introduction of this new label is ongoing and is expected to be completed by January 2019. During this period, official genuine Shell Helix products with old labels will continued to be sold alongside the new, and can be authenticated via the unique product code on the label.

Besides the Shell Helix-branded workshops, selected workshops served by authorised Shell distributors and Shell retail stations, the Helix range is also available at Shell’s official online stores in Lazada Malaysia, 11street and Shopee.
