Hyundai Grand Starex Royale For Malaysia Gets A Facelift
One of the best large MPVs around, and a favorite among big families and limousine fleets, known for its size and affordability, the Hyundai Grand Starex Royale, has been given a refreshed look that will definitely turn heads.
The front fascia has been revised with a new daring chrome grille design that stretches downwards to the lower front bumper. The fog lamp housing has been altered to incorporate LEDs. Closer inspection of the front grille also reveals a camera which is useful for a tall vehicle like this.
The sides are dressed in a skirting that makes the Grand Starex look like a lower-riding MPV and this extends to the rear bumper which now has mesh guards with chrome surround to hide the exhaust. The tail light cluster is now surrounded with a glossy black trim which stretches up and onto the tailgate spoiler. A reverse camera is also a necessity and is available here.
“Breaking away from the previous design and identity, the aerodynamic side cladding and bent high glossy black sculpture rear design sees the Starex being transformed totally,” said Mr. Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia (HSDM).
The Hyundai Grand Starex Royale made its Malaysian debut in 1998 and has won numerous awards in its category, both locally and abroad.
For this 2017 facelift, the Grand Starex Royale maintains its industry-leading 2.5-liter CRDi diesel engine with a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) and a turbo intercooler. This engine gives a maximum power output of 170 PS at 3,800 rpm and torque of 392 Nm from 2,000 to 2,500 rpm. That amount of power is sufficient to carry 9 passengers without the vehicle feeling overwhelmed.
Other standard features include cruise control, Safe Drive Recorder and electronic stability program (ESP).
The Grand Starex Royale 2017 Deluxe is priced at RM 168,888 (on the road with road tax and insurance) and is available in 4 colors – Creamy White, Timeless Black and Hyper Silver. It is also covered by a 5-year / 300,000 km warranty (as with all new Hyundai passenger vehicles).
A 24-hour road assist service is also available for new and existing Hyundai vehicles.
Viewing, booking and test-drives are available at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide starting December 2016.
