Local Alfisti celebrate 20th anniversary of Alfa 155

Alfa Romeo Owners Club Klang Valley (AROCKV) Malaysia recently organized a gathering of nearly 100 people to mark the 20th anniversary celebration of the Alfa Romeo 155 model. Some 55 Alfa Romeos of various vintages turned up, from the venerable Alfetta to the newer 159 models.

The gathering came into fruition after an initiative by French-based Alfa enthusiast website BerlinaSportivo.com inviting AROCKV to contribute a video of how the 155’s 20th anniversary was celebrated in Malaysia. On 5-6 May 2012, the abovementioned gathering convoyed from the Sime Darby Auto Connexion showroom at Jalan Ipoh to Fraser’s Hill.

After enjoying the long winding corners of the road leading up to Fraser’s, the convoy was rewarded with a complimentary lunch from Assam Pedas Restaurant. In the afternoon, a panel of judges inspected the 27 units of the 155 that went along for the trip and awarded prizes for the Best Interior, Best Exterior, Most Original, and Overall Best car of the event.

At night, participants gathered for a BBQ dinner at Assam Pedas, where they also enjoyed a live band performance. Prizes were given for the ‘Inspection 155′ contest held earlier in the day, and there was also a lucky draw of prizes for all present. The club also opened a booth selling merchandises such as T-Shirts and stickers.

The next day started with a heavy breakfast at Shahzan Inn, the event’s official venue, after which the convoy headed to Temerloh for lunch. Some participants dropped out at this stage, leaving 46 cars in the 2 hour journey through challenging roads passing by some Felda estates. The gathering concluded after lunch.
