The new Isuzu D-Max is rumoured to be coming at the end of this year. It's a twin of the Colorado.

HI guys,

Aren't you all going off at a tangent to suggest which is the best pick-up truck?

The question is which pick-up truck has car-like handling and quietness?

My answer is "if compared to a Myvi or Kancil or Alza or Viva, ANY pick-up truck will do."

You are right. I'm also considering buying a pick up truck and I've been using this thread as a discussion thread/ sounding board for my own search.

The pick up truck with the best NVH and handling is definitely the Ford Ranger. The minus points for the Ranger are some teething issues (rusty fuel injectors), slow delivery (Ford is no longer taking bookings on the Wildtrak due to delivery problems) and the really high cost of maintenance (RM450 for engine oil).

For those reasons I'm considering the Mazda BT-50 but I haven't test driven it yet. The reviews from Australia say that the Ranger is better.

Hi beefburger,

sorry to blur your selection process. But this is my choice...

VOLKSWAGEN AMAROK smile_thumbup.gif

I'll be getting one...if VGM brings them in smile_blackeye.gif

The Amarok comes out very well in the Australian reviews but as BR1 said, if it has VW kind of pricing, forget it. Would you pay RM250k for a pick up truck?

dont think you need to pay that much, I estmate from 130-140k? just my guess or they can forget about it.
if really need a nice pickup and cross over - today subaru xv is on show at only 140k with 2.0 boxer engine, seem a good bet for all the features you wants at this minimum price.

I'm not sure how the tax will work but VW cars are ferociously expensive in Malaysia. The 'roc costs just £19,820 (RM100,000) in Britain and RM188,888 here.

The tax on pick ups is different so hopefully the Amarok will be cheaper than RM188,888.

also if vw is cronies controlled companies - then maybe big down in price overnight! but the german are still stubborn I think to not let others put their hands and legs into their affairs and kill their products and reputation in service and spares - so consumers have to pay higher for it!!! what an unfair for consumers, as compared to other good cars taken and franchised by some connected companies for the tax, cbu in and declared as ckd and malaysia boleh also say boleh so ?????
