My shortlist:
HiLux 2.7 ltr turbodiesel
Navara
Triton
MazdaColorado

My priorities: car like handling + comfortable for 4 adults + quiet

I travel to Klang, PJ and Sungai Buloh a lot so I need to be mindful of road imperfections and sometimes floods.

Please tell me your views!

For ride comfort and on-road handling, Hilux is definitely out.

I prefers to use my head than follow the crowd. After all, it is my money and not theirs.

I say navara but some said it is no reliable after a few years. Same also for Triton 2008-11.

For SUV the excise duty is >70% but trucks are considered commercial vehicles and no >70% excise duty as such cheaper than much SUV.

A pickup truck won't have car like handling. Similiar like, I can't ask for a sedan car with 4WD handling that can go into moderate-heavy jungle/off-road.
I recall a recent thread about someone complain on Toyota Hilux very bouncy, that's how a 4WD behaves.

The closest is as suggested, get an SUV like Fortuner, Pajero, etc. even though the excise duty is higher.

As has been stated; you won't find a pick up truck with car like handling.

I've test driven the Navara, Triton VGT and Ranger 2.2.

The Navara is the most powerful and is lower so it's less bouncy. The Ranger has the best interior, is the best looking and has impressive off road capabilities (although the 3.2 is your boy if you are doing serious off roading). The Triton VGT is powerful but bouncy. It sort of fell in the middle for me.

You might want to think carefully about what it is you want from your vehicle and go and test drive lots and lots of them. There is no obligation. Once you've driven a few you'll start to notice what you like or don't like.

Bro, hear-say or what? I own 2008 Triton but I cannot agree and I also know owners from the same batch, if you thrash your 4wd or that matter any vehicle, surely you get into trouble.

my advise, don't drive 4wd like as you drive sedan vehicle, and don't drive sedan vehicle as you drive 4wd.... rolleyes.gif
