your money your choice.everybody have thier own reason.no matter what people say...as for me i am satisfied with my 10 month forte SX...amazing korean product...untill this day...i only spend on fuel, engine oil,ATF,and air filter only...no need extra cost like faulty alram, ratteling here and there.i cant wait to here your report on your ride bro..cheers

Agree with DSAI .

My Forte 2.0 is truly awesome in term of :
- FC (as good as my auntie punya Altis 1.8)
- Power( 0-100km/h under 10s , top speed >190 km/h)
- specifications(6 airbags , ABS+ESP , auto cruise...etc..etc..)
- young handsome looks inside out
- super NVH
.....etc...etc....

BTW , I'm getting my Fiesta 1.6 h/b sooner by today (27/12/2010), latest tomorrow ......
This is another astonishing car with :
- dual VVT
- 6 speeds dual clutch
- German's handling
- high specs

No way , I'm going again to spend a single cent on those low spec+outdated Jap cars.........
Resale value is just a bullshit , bcos I have no problem dealing with the depreciation value of my 7 years ex cold car (Optra 1.8) which I lost RM9.1 k per year versus my aunt's altis 1.8 (around rm8k per year ). Bear in mind , my high spec car was rm30k far cheaper than the altis 1.8 .
No need me to mention again on my ex Optra's maintenance costs with genuine parts , it was as cheap as those Jap/proton 's genuine parts .......

Guys I'm still here.

After alot of thoughts, we narrowed our decision down to Forte and Fiesta. We can't think of a good reason to get the rest in that range... sorry.

Forte strong point is its space and it's hard to argue that you're buying at premium for a smaller sqm in Fiesta. Think of the people/luggage/kids stuff that it can ferry and Fiesta can't. After all, it's an elegant looking C-segment car. Further to that, Forte is more "popular" on the road than Fiesta, thus better 2nd hand spare parts. Specs wise, it has most of the key ones covered plus a stop/start button which Fiesta lacks.

Nonetheless, we're booking our Fiesta tomorrow. Wife loves it because of the compactness. I love it because of it's driving dynamic. The car has been proven worldwide and we are not sure about the longevity of Korean cars.

I think the waiting period of 2011 Fiesta is in March/April 2011. Not many people can/will wait that long.. I suppose this will hurt the sales tremendously.

Thanks for all the advices guys. To the owners, how's the car so far?

Shd also test drive the Pug 207 as it's about RM10k lower than your budget.
If you're going for the Forte 2.0, perhaps should also test drive the Chevy Cruze.

But once you test drive the Focus TDCi, there's no turning back!

DSAI, I do hope I am not making a wrong decision here. I heard alot that Korean's have improved leaps and bounds since the Spectra days. But once stung, I just can't convince myself to go in again. I have zero experience with Ford and I hope it doesn't dissapoint. Will post my review once we got the car, but that'll be 3 months later.

Ketaauto, hi five man. People need to start wake up and not get rip off by other brands. Don't be a slave to resale value. You only live once. How's your take on Fiesta?

Carlion, I am kinda sceptical on Pug. Don't get me wrong coz I'm a big fan of the 308, but just take a look at the Autoworld Forum on Pug... it's FULL with issues. Anyway, I can't guarantee that Fiesta doesn't have issue, so I guess it's a gamble. Er... Cruz is at least RM 20k more expensive than Fiesta and Focus TDCi is even more wo...

Anyway, I don't really think I can convince my wife otherwise. She's totally sold with the look. To me, once driven it, I don't think I can convince myself there're better amongst peers... it was an organsmic fun!

Sorry, don't mean to pour cold water on you, yun.

Do expect Fiesta to carry bad resale value (but not necessary so).

Also, expect a bad after sales service at that. Sime Darby Auto Connexion is 'lock, stock and barrel' from the old Ford Consessionaire.

On the plus side, Fiesta is assembled in Thailand - for that I have much more confidence than Kia (assembled here last I heard, same as Pug 308).

One thing I've not check on Fiesta, is it running on timing chain?

Correct my if I am wrong, Kia Forte is a SKD (semi Knocked down), where they only assemble the 4 doors here in Malaysia and rebadged them to Naza!

yun, As for your comment on going back to Kia again after you had bad experience with Spectra....I can say, I have the tendency to go back to Proton again with their Inspira! hehe!

Bro tanglp, do u own a ford? so what make u said bad after sales service? FORD give 60K mileage or 3years of maintenance, part and labour totally FREE! ( even wear and tear except tyre) do others brand offer?

For parts, can always get from website or thailand or even SG. The only problem is do u have money pay for the parts or not. and hey, UK or EURO is offer many after market performance part that is premium quality, so what do u want?

Fiesta is running on timing belt . do timing chain important to u?

One more good thing for Fiesta is the Safety feature that many B segment don't have and even some C-segment car also not include, that is TCS, is TCS important ? the answer is YES, is one of the most important feature that will safe ur car and ur life. if u don't understand how TCS work, do a google search and u will have clear picture.

For me safety is a MUST!

tanglp, yeh I do kinda ready to accept the possibe lower resale value, but since I'll be using it for the long term (my last Honda City lasted > 12 yrs, my wife's kancil > 11 yrs), I think the impact from resale value will not be a major difference, if negligible.

No experinece with after sales but I do hear lotsa other bad experiences from Toyota and Honda owners too, and I mean bad to the extent that the owners swore never to buy the brands again. For Ford, like Forgood said, at least it gives 3 yrs free service. My Mazda3 offers the same service hence I can certainly appreciate the value for such program. But yeh, I'm gonna use it for the long term, I do pray that their after sales thereafter is "acceptable".

Timing chain/belt, any pros and cons? Concerns, tanglp, if otherwise? Sorry I'm no car buff here so would like to learn.

Yo Multipla, I feel you man! I drove an Iswara for 5 years and it was one of my worst nightmare. Power windows didn't work, air-con malfunction, water tank leakage, boot suspension failure, speedometer failure, fuel meter failure... and etc etc. Inspira is indeed a good package, but as soon as I sat in, the hatred just start crept up to me.. like the Discovery Channel "The Haunting".. I feel sick.. don't regret Multipla. HAHHAHAHA

Forgood, yeh totally agree. I rank TCS as one of the key selling point for Fiesta. BUT, Forte priced around the same as Fiesta, also comes with TCS. So Forte do have an edge, being a C-segment.
