not defensive lah bro, just sharing mah, like u said, u think timing chain is good for u, but for me timing chain or belt also have pros and cons, and we don't limit our choice to only because of timing chain ONLY right?

ya... most of lady driver once saw the Fiesta, they will fall in love with it, i have few friend bring wifey to see fiesta, straight said want it, but buy it or not, is different story, so better let ur wifey choose whatever she want, so that next time when come to arguement, they will always complaint " i told u, i said i want fiesta, but u ask me to buy forte, now u can see the ........" smile_tongue.gif

Exactly. At least she will be happy with the car and me rather than not happy with the car and me tongue.gif

Considering a car around RM 85k range.

Here's my choices and opinion so far from test drive, please help. Feedback from owners would be greatly appreciated. Do recommend others that's appropriate if I missed any.

(1) Swift

Pros
Cheapest after rebate, about RM 69k.
Decent "go-kart" feel.

Cons
Car is dated (even the colours on the brochure I got were faded). Interior match with the cheap price.

(2) Forte

Pros
C-segment at B-segment price.
Good space and super specs.

Cons
Had bad experience with Korean brand (ie high FC and terrible resale value). Sceptical on its realibility in the long-run.

(3) Vios

Pros
Very "safe" car, in terms of realibility and resale value.

Cons
Under-specs. Premium in price goes to service and resale.
Had bad NVH during test drive. Probably due to tyre roar?

(4) Fiesta

Pros
Unbelievable handling.
Specs second to Forte.

Cons
Engine tend to rev high (> 4k rpm on 1st gear). Reluctant to upshift unless through manual blip on the pedal. Lack of manual overdrive worsen the experience. Common to all? Any solution to this?
Abundant splash of plastic over the interior.

just sharing,

for latest car and technology, voting for f.fiesta

HAHAHAHAH... damn funny la you two. Seemed like you two spent alot of time thinking of the potential "pitfalls" and the mitigatons...

I asked my wife couple of times whether she is sure coz she didn't even test drive a Forte, but she seemed quite certain that Fiesta is "it", also commented that the size of Forte is too bulky (say wheeeeeeet?). Anyway, it's her paying the installment.

I know Fiesta won quite a number of awards and positive reviews worldwide, it's lighter than Forte so it's supposed to be more fuel economy. Cheaper ownership as well since we'll save 3 years of maintenance, the last free service at 60,000 km or 3 yrs includes changing quite a number of parts so that's cool...

I'm more like retrospectively assisting my argument of supporting the Fiesta.. hahahah

Guys, I don't quite understand. What's so unique about the dry dual cluth in Fiesta? From driving experience, it doesn't seem to be any major difference with the norm. Probably what's missing to make it "fun" is the manual override. Test drove the Scirocco and Golf... and I thought the auto gear change is much much smoother/slicker than Fiesta.

I didn't add Inspira manual in the list, which I think it should since it fits the price band and decently package.

You guys will consider or worth to take the risk, especially Proton owners?

My wife wanted a small car. So Fiesta fits the bill.

For PowerShift, it uses the dry-clutch type as oppose to the DSG wet clutch found in VW GTI or Scirocco. The dry-clutch is smaller, lighter and simpler for lighter application. But DSG has smoother shift I heard. Sorry, I've not test it. As for problems, I've not heard about it so far.

If I'm changing my car, I would consider Inspira manual. I've been craving for a manual car since driving an auto.

Also, Hyundai Accent 2011 is coming soon... but dunno the price and specs.

VW have dry clutch like the fiesta, the VW dry clutch is 7speed, used in POLO and GOLF 1.4 TSI, the reason for dry clutch is more efficient then wet clutch, lighter and less maintenance as the manufacturere said, ofcourse the dry clutch only apply to car that less then 250NM torque but anything more then 250NM , they will use the WET Clutch, like Golf GTI, TIGUAN, SCIROCCO, and POWERSHIFT wet clutch is only appply to Focus TDCI, the tread is going for dual clutch, even the Korean car is going to use it on the next generation. Only now German car have it first smile_tongue.gif

But bro, Inspira manual just 1.8, is that enough for u? since the body is not light......

Hyundai Accent 2011 is nice look , but not sure about spec....
What about 2012 FOCUS with ecoboost? 1.6L turbo charge, 180HP n 244NM torque, power is more then 2.2L, petrol consuption is something like 1.6 car and come with POWERSHIFT.....

Hmmm... that will be nice but it's gonna go be over RM100k. I think it's going to be like FF TDCi price range. We'll just have to wait and see.

Hi Bro anek1, thanks for sharing

No car in this world is cheap to maintance, even AUTO gearbox also costly if maintance, but if u do more search on internet, u will find more about POWERSHIFT, it make by GETRAG. they have a very long building transmissions history and some of sport car they are using it, like TOYOTA Supra, Nissan GTR etc. if u want more info of POWERSHIFT , can always log on the http://www.getrag.de/ or u can check on the youtube video, why powershift http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

"Innovation that comes from tradition: since 1935 GETRAG is known as a specialist for high-quality transmissions. We have always been pushing forward the wheel of development together with our customers and have continued to develop ourselves as well."

Hope this will help u know more about POWERSHIFT, and it is cheap or expansive to maintance? not know, but i have search on taiwan FORD, since they use this POWERSHIFT around 2 years, still no major problem, (touch wood)
