I don't have a Ford yet. But do I have to own a Ford to qualify the statement?
Timing chain means that I don't have to change the belt. Changing the belt means sending the car to service center and they have to disassemble the innards and then place them back. If the after sales service is bad, then it's like lottery to get them replace. To me, it is important.
And up to 60k mileage maintenance free. Smart aren't they? That's when the timing belt needs to be change! Don't know the cost yet but I hope it is not like Kia, goes over a thousand ringgit.
Don't get me wrong. Just need to let you know of the possible outcome.
We're looking at the delivery of the car in end Feb or early March. After all that I've said, I do hope I'm wrong.
Cheers!

well Bro tanglp, if u own a FORD then ur words will make different. but then u can buy whatever u like, since that is ur money.
So can i said, u buy car because of only have timing chain type engine right? but what if that car u like it so much and it only limit to timing belt, will u still buying it? or u choose others car that not on ur list which because have timing chain?
o.k lah, let said the car need to change timing belt for 80K, so if buy ford, they give free service every 10K, so one time service let RM200, ( we compare on every B-segment car)so six time is RM1200, am i right? so for that RM1200, can u change the timing belt? and remember that many wear and tear part will be change in 60K mileage and u don't pay a single cents. what else do u need?

Huh? Thousand ringgit? You must be kidding me le bro, I drove a Citra for the past 6 years and change the timing belt 3 times and the cost per change/one time is around rm 450. Think you get the fact wrong la and furthermore it is "ORI" part.

Here's my choices and opinion so far from test drive, please help. Feedback from owners would be greatly appreciated. Do recommend others that's appropriate if I missed any.
(1) Swift
Pros
Cheapest after rebate, about RM 69k.
Decent "go-kart" feel.
Cons
Car is dated (even the colours on the brochure I got were faded). Interior match with the cheap price.
(2) Forte
Pros
C-segment at B-segment price.
Good space and super specs.
Cons
Had bad experience with Korean brand (ie high FC and terrible resale value). Sceptical on its realibility in the long-run.
(3) Vios
Pros
Very "safe" car, in terms of realibility and resale value.
Cons
Under-specs. Premium in price goes to service and resale.
Had bad NVH during test drive. Probably due to tyre roar?
(4) Fiesta
Pros
Unbelievable handling.
Specs second to Forte.
Cons
Engine tend to rev high (> 4k rpm on 1st gear). Reluctant to upshift unless through manual blip on the pedal. Lack of manual overdrive worsen the experience. Common to all? Any solution to this?
Abundant splash of plastic over the interior.
Swift, tested before. Fun at high speed cornering. But the spec given is not attractive. However, it is cheapest.
Firte, only sit inside in the showroom. Spec and price very attractive.
Vios, drove before for long journey. Very noisy, not totally from road or tyre but from the engine and the bad sound proof. 2 of my friends regretted after bought it as they did not realize it during test drive.
Fiesta, only see in the showroom. Price and spec, not too bad.

Yes, you read it right. It's over a thousand and it's Kia Optima. In fact I have 2 colleague that drives that car and complains about it. And they've changed twice. And no, I did not get my facts wrong.
In Citra case, it may be different cos it is different car. And you probably service your car at Naza and theirs at Kia and uses different parts.
If I don't own a Ford and my words don't make a difference and not qualified? I've done my homework and research on the internet. I've talked to people who owns a Ford. Qualified enough?

Chill-la... why so defensive? I'm buying this car also.
I thought about Forte but wifey don't like it.

not defensive lah bro, just sharing mah, like u said, u think timing chain is good for u, but for me timing chain or belt also have pros and cons, and we don't limit our choice to only because of timing chain ONLY right?
ya... most of lady driver once saw the Fiesta, they will fall in love with it, i have few friend bring wifey to see fiesta, straight said want it, but buy it or not, is different story, so better let ur wifey choose whatever she want, so that next time when come to arguement, they will always complaint " i told u, i said i want fiesta, but u ask me to buy forte, now u can see the ........"
