Hi Bro Daviesjb

Sorry for the late response, i was overseas for the past 2 weeks. Yeah, since the M8 is new in Malaysia, I think we can form a club but we need members. We should have at least 5 to start with.

I am from PJ, no is PGT8228.

Dear Teighlour,

1. I suggest every owner public their car plate number, to prevent non-mazda 8 owner sabotage this forum nor mazda 8.
What do you think?

2. Shall we form a Mazda 8 club?

I took my car for the first service today in Glenmarie. Waited for 1-2 hours and even got my car washed (anyway, it rained rather heavily later in the day so no difference). I brought up the problem of the headrest monitor and was asked to go to their outsourced accessory shop to get it fixed. Since Bro Chinonlee has done it, then this has solved the problem. Even better news is the central locking has a solution. Cool. Will go get it fixed this week before i start travelling again.

During the deepavali holidays to Penang. Had a nice cruise down the north south highway. Well, it is a bit under power but what do you expect with an MPV, not supposed to speed but cruise. Have my whole family (wife and 2 babies with maid).

Hi all,

SA not able to solve this issue as this is unintelligent headrest monitor is a standard unit. However this can be solve via adding additional switch to control the headrest monitor.

Done it at GS Audio in Jln 222 or 225 PJ, along Federal Highway. Cost is RM35. Solve all the problem of the monitor switching it on by itself whenever u start the car. It can only be switch on after you press the switch.

For the central locking, it also can be done at the same outlet. Cost RM350.

Regards.

Fuel Consumption of Mazda 8

1. I guess the fuel tank of mazda 8 was being designed like a V shape.

2. The fuel indicator didn't moves at all for the first 150km.
(I thought I can drive for 700km/full tank if comply with this situation, ha ha ha)

3. The indicator moves significantly after 300km.

4. The half point of the indicator didn't mean the half tank of fuel.

5. I pumped in 60 litres, in urban zone, stands for 550km.
Better than my previous Estima 2.4 Aeras.

Which type of petrol did u pump, RON95 or 97 Bro Daviesjb? You really have good FC in your M8.

I pumped RON95 (company petrol) and I dont think the FC is good, maybe should try RON97. And I dont rev up the car, easy driver who cruises at 2000-2500 in RPM. Max at 3000 RPM when overtaking.

What I got was:

City driving, full tank - about 350km
Highway driving + city - 530km (350km was my trip fr PG to KL, the rest city driving).

Hi Bro Surveychan

No, i havent. I was at Bermaz Glenmarie for my first service and asked them if they can assist. They quoted me RM480 per side and since I kena 2 sides, it will be RM960. That is a bit too steep. So i will go look somewhere else.

My colour is Black Mica so the deep gash is rather ugly. Any recommendations from other owners where i can touch up the paint work?

I have gone to the GS Auto Accessories along Jln 222 to fix the switch to turn on/off the headrest monitors and also the central locking. Got it done in 45 mins, real fast and professionally done. Total of RM385. Problem solved. smile_big.gif

Dear Bro Teighlour,

wow!
It's kinda shock to me.... your FC 350km/full tank in urban?
Is KL traffic jam like a hell?

Other honorable Mazda 8 driver, how is your FC (fuel consumption)?
Pls comment.

This is what I have been through...to get 550km/60 litre of fuel.
RON 95, Shxll.
rpm try not to hit over 3000, most of the time stays below 2000. I let the gear changes smoothly...I noticed the gear turns on 5th gear, even though the speed is slow at 80km. 65~70km also in 5th gear sometimes...although the car will lag like a feeling of powerless...but I kinda enjoy of it...drive smoothly, not keen to accelerate.

Well, driving around Ipoh I could managed 450km before the fuel warning light pop up . On long haul, more or less same as Teighlour. FYI, there is no V-shape fuel tank. Your fuel indicator are measured based on the pressure in the fuel tank. When your tank is full the pressure will indicate slower drop on the needle. However, when the the tank is half then you can see the needle nose dive.

Bro Daviesjb, yes, KL traffic.....nothing new. At one time, i saw my fuel went 25% coz i was driving from PJ to downtown KL (Hotel Nikko), that time was crazy traffic after office hours and flash flood. It took me close to an hour and a half in the car. Maybe that's not a good way to measure FC because of the extreme traffic conditions.

I will continue to try the RON95 for one more time before I will try to switch to RON97. But getting 550km is very good achievement for you.

Hi Guys

What do you think of your touch screen Clarion player? I have problems navigating it and found it not so user friendly. For example, I could not find the TUNER home page when I want to switch stations which I have preset (ch 1 to 6).

Even when i was the New GS Auto (where Mazda outsource their players to be installed there), the technician also has problems and they eventually ask me to reset it. It eventually works after the reset but kinda stupid rite? The technician claims this is a problematic player and system always hangs.

And comments?
