I feel so disappointed to m'sia proton...they dont have own creative mind and like to use other ppl technology and design. they just change abit some makeup add somethings on it. then let the price go down. other foreigner will think m'sia proton damn low class. i feel so shame as other country like japan will feel m'sia forever copycat.

henry...if u know nothing or little about car industry...then just read and read and read first before making any comments that would likely to make u sounds silly...

it all related to costXproduction volume its not worth to spent billion R&D just to create a car model that would sells less than 100 000unit......

don't look at proton..go search aston martin cygnet, toyota iq,mitsubishi miev, and countless european car model that have been rebadges...not forgetting in the aussie also.....holden do rebadge many-many vauxhall and pontiac car......yet..nobody nagging like u?

u think mitsu didn't take rebadge car???think again...u'll see exora and savvy chasis based car would be in the mitsubishi lineup soon enough...

Perodua also copycat. But what the real situation is, the buyer that is japan wannabe will bought it. Perodua alza, myvi, kembara, kelisa, viva all copy toyota and daihatsu.
If design using own design and engine buyer will be hard to pleased.

the difference in how perodua did it is like this. nobody bought a toyota passo or daihatsu boon from any toyota or daihatsu dealer in malaysia at a higher price before perodua introduced the myvi.

so, there were no boon or passo buyers to feel cheated.

same for the original saga and the wira. mitsubishi did not sell the lancer equivalents of those models here. so, again, there were no angry lancer owners to cry foul.

but now, lots of people paid upwards of rm100k for their lancer gt and lancer ex... but rebadging is very normal in the auto industry. it is to share development costs and to improve profitability for the company. everybody does rebadging in the industry.
Let's talk about driving again!

The engine may be identical but the end products are not identical. Lancer owners paid higher for the brand name and service.

Besides, Mitsubishi brand name carries higher resale value.
