I guess, for rebadging, this is suppose to be Naza Biz... and re-badge are mean to grow the industry which later we are capable of doing something on our own.
and now, we just repeated the same thing all over again, another 25 years from now, we will rebadge again, coz that time car run on battery, and our current rebadge of 6 speed will last us like the Wira, 20years.
Good job Proton. You just know how to make us proud !

The Perodua Rusa is a microvan manufactured by Malaysian automaker Perodua, and based on the Daihatsu Zebra and Daihatsu Hijet Maxx. Launched on March 6, 1996, with a 1.3 litre engine, followed by the 1.6 litre range on May 14, 1997, the Rusa is the first van to be produced by a Malaysian automotive company.

Hi kswei,
The way you put it, it sounds like only Naza and Proton do rebadging and for sure this is not true.
All car makes are doing it and it is a common practise. Unfortunately we do not see many rebadged cars in Malaysia so we think that only our national car makers are doing it. But we do not see around us does not mean it is not normal in other parts of the world.
Do spend some time to read about the automotive rebadging history that covers almost all automotive makes around the world:

so, there were no boon or passo buyers to feel cheated.
same for the original saga and the wira. mitsubishi did not sell the lancer equivalents of those models here. so, again, there were no angry lancer owners to cry foul.
but now, lots of people paid upwards of rm100k for their lancer gt and lancer ex... but rebadging is very normal in the auto industry. it is to share development costs and to improve profitability for the company. everybody does rebadging in the industry.
How about these Cheater

it all related to costXproduction volume its not worth to spent billion R&D just to create a car model that would sells less than 100 000unit......

THEY PROMOTE BUY ORIGINAL NOT PIRATED EVERYTHING YOU GO CINEMA
BUT NOW PROTON OUR PROUD NATIONAL CAR MAKER IS BUILDING PIRATED OR COPY PRODUCT.
HYPOCRITE is true, when GEORGE SOROS retaliated to TUN DR M (PROTON ADVISOR)
Will MALAYSIAN support BUATAN WARGA TIRUAN
Why don't we call those pirated DVD's as " Rebadged" ?? Good move to bypass the law

Displacement: 1798 cc
Engine type: Inline, 4 cylinder
Max power: 105 kW ( 141 HP) at 6000 rpm
Max torque: 178.00 Nm at 4250 rpm
Dimensions and weight
Weight: 1395 kg
Kerb weight for Fortis + a driver 75kg?....expect less for protong
Performance:
Top speed: 204.0 km/h
0-100 km/h : 10.1 seconds
how bout auto?
Looking at the max power and torque you can expect the Inspira 1.8 auto will not perform better than the Perdana. Perdana 151bhp/190Nm vs Inspira 141bhp/178Nm, and Inspira is heavier some more.... and may be Inspira 2.0Auto also will not perform better than Lancer GT.

Naza is only a car assembler.
Proton Inspira is a revised version of Mitsubishi Lancer. It is not a me-too or copy product. Moreover, Proton Exora and Persona models will be rebadge as Mitsubishi for some markets.
Rebadge means to relaunch (a product) under a new name, brand, or logo.
Badge engineering may occur is when two separate companies trade off products that each brand lacks in its lineup. A prime example of this would be the first-generation Honda Odyssey being rebadged as an Isuzu Oasis because Isuzu needed a minivan, while the Isuzu Rodeo was rebadged as the Honda Passport because Honda had the need for an SUV.
Badge engineering may occur when one company allows another, otherwise unaffiliated, company to market a revised version of their product, as with Volkswagen marketing a re-skinned version of the Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country as the Volkswagen Routan.
