tho it will take the lancer platform but we have to be prepared to face the cheap, crappy and non-lasting interior parts...initially they plan to go with a lower 1.6 engine but that will risk in competing with the more 'refine' & well built kia forte 1.6L...so now they are looking at 1.8L engine to create diffrentiation....their target selling price not more than 80K but with the mitsubishi engine and gearbox they definitely will find ways and means to cut cost to be able to sell at that price ....2.0L will be for perdana replacement only if market finds it feasible...with the forte 2.0L selling at 93K, i think Proton can close the Perdana chapter

since is almost 80 to 90% confirmed look-alike lancer GT and the waja replacement with not more than 80K??... then this will affect the sales of lancer GT lo??

Just got back from the proton platinum showroom at damansara mutiara.
Went there to consult the sales person and she told me that it looks very much like the current mitsubishi lancer
She didnt specify which current model it will replace but said the waja or perdana and will be rolling out on 2010/2011

Enjine wise will be a 1.8 or 2.0 while the price range will be around 70-80k

So i guess from the price it should be a replacement for the waja.

I cannot substantiate this, but from what I hear, it will be running on the 1.8-litre 4B10 engine, with the option of manual transmission and CVT. Not sure if the CVT will come with paddle shifters, but I doubt it.
