I sent mine to the FA near midvalley in KL.
They did show me the job sheet of the service which detailed the things
done to my car but did not give a copy to me as that was for their
internal record.
I don't know about the a/c service but I do notice that my a/c is
exceptionally cold today. I have always felt that 25 c in auto mode is
not cold enough or the blower not strong enough but today at 25c setting,
the blower is strong and the air is cold. I reckon Fa must have done
somethinng to the a/c.
As for the upgrade, perhaps you could check with the service center on
something called Quality Bulletine?

You got very good deal with free service! I have been paying between
RM600 - RM900 for last 2 services without the voucher, and mainly paying
for the over-priced engine oil.
What's your plan after 2-year warranty and finish utilizing free service
voucher? I believe there are many competent non-authorized workshops in
KL.

since the warranty is 3yrs, i think my 3rd service will be still in FA.
as i will only able to clock 20k mileage a year, that means service my
car once in a year n it costs 800+, i rather not to take the risk, just to
save maybe 2 to 3 hundred a year, but the cost of the spare part quoted
by FA is terrible, this worry me the most.
for eg, i claimed my steering rack last year, do u know how much it
costs? came close to 7k.....!!!! heard that the 4 pieces of brake pad
will cost us 1k easily, true????
been told by a friend , an insurance company can insure a car's repair
cost(not caused by accident), heard that b4?

Sorry, typo error, should be 3-year warranty.
Yea, part cost is expensive! My relative owns a S80, about 5-year old.
Last year, the amount he spent on parts & repair was enought to buy a
Myvi! Scary! Nevertheless, I have also met owners who so far just
paying for regular servicing & wear & tear parts.... Is it luck or what??

I think the charges of 600-900 per service is very reasonable considering
the 20k km interval. It is the repair cost which is worrying, especially
after warranty period. I think for major repair work after the warranty
period, one should not send back to FA or SM. But for routine service it
is ok, me thinks.
Having said that, mine is a company car and therefore maintained by the
company.

I got the same response as Andrew when i asked about the upgrade. Do you
remember who you spoke to about it, maybe your service advisor? That way,
if we ask him/her directly, it would be easier.
Thanks!

The service advisor who attended me was a nice young chap by the name of
Shafiq, in FA near mid-valley.

Already called him just now. He said it was car-specific, and not a general
software upgrade for all S40s. According to him, some cars have already
been upgraded depending on when it was sent to the workshop, so i figure
since you probably send in the car once a year, thats why they detected
the software upgrade version for you. FA already says my software the
latest at the moment :)
Thanks again!

Something weird happened to my ride yesterday. It turned on the lights by
itself! As soon as I opened the door, the lights went out. Then it came
on again after about 5-10 minutes. I checked the manual, locked it,
unlocked it, tried all sorts of things but the same thing happened again
and again. For a total of 5 times. So I called Volvo on call.
The guy came, saw it happened twice in front of him, could not diagnose
there and then, altho suspected that it is a short-circuit of some sort,
mentioned CEM (central electrical module). The lights which came on were
the front driving lights except the right dim light(nearest to the
grille) and the right rear driving light. (but not the left rear) But the
internal lights were not on. Very Strange indeed.
So, disconnected the battery terminal (in case the battery drained out).
This morning sent the car in to FA. Don't know what's wrong yet. But the
guys at the workshop also have not encountered anything like this before.
Anyone experience this?
