the power is terrible. It is very hard to find a good auto unit though.
2.0 is tuned to be more powerful than the 2.3 but fuel consumption
suffers, so go for the 2.3.

go for the later 240 models ('89 onwards).
get an auto with fuel injection.
2.0 litre - ok for city driving, but a bit under powered for long
distance / going uphill, with a full load.
fuel consumption - for my 2.0 240, not that bad. Considering the weight
of the car & the comfort.
I have been using one for 8 months now. It is reliable. I love it.
Hope you'll find a good one.
Regards.

better equipment. However, with such old cars, you have to shop based on
condition also.Don`t just buy on price, as many shitty cars cost far
lower than better kept similar year models....but the cost of restoration
will kill you.
The 2.3 injected models are fastest but as long as you learn to go along
with the car`s pace, you`ll find any 240 cruises happily enough, fast
enough.
Just my 2 cents. Been driving/ owning 240s for 12 years...you`ll love
this car.

How about the cosumtion? Yeah, I know it quite a stupid question to ask
when you wantta drive a Volvo but compare to SE model which is better?
Maintenance wise compare to SE?
Thanks.

What model do you own? I have the same tough about having a Volvo! Seeing
people driving it make me feel must own the car, still a few people (owner
& not) saying it a crazy thing to have! Makes your head bold when it come
to maintenance and repair, is it true?
I just need to be extra careful in making choice as I'm a middle income
earner! Those model I list out is cost around RM4k to RM6k which I plan to
buy in cash so if any problem with the car which I'm out of budget I can
leave it for awhile without worrying to pay the installment! Is it worth
to buy those car?
Anyway, those who give your support to me, thank you very much! By the
way, anyone want to sell 240 SE or GLT? Make sure loan is available!
Thanks.

600,000km (never overhauled even once)....GLT now at 270,000km ...both
no problems even when high mileage.
Just buy it bro....good plan you have there. If you buy cash, then if
something needs repairing can just hang the car up for a while until you
get the funds...no worries about paying loan, repossessor! etc.
Maintenance wise, no problem ...actually depends how fussy and how much
of an enthusiast you are. Most things screwed up also the car can still
start and get you from A to B. But of course not nice lah like that...
Anyway, most fellers who talk alot about the maintenance/ fuel
consumption/ problems of a Volvo never owned one before...but just talk
kok only.

those never own a Volvo only talk because they see so big car and somemore
2.4lt, sure lah...they said drink petrol... can only say...look at other
model make(non conti) new car in this autoworld and u will be amazed that
their car(below 2lt) does consume as much as a Volvo. for mine, with
current fuel price(1.42) rm70 = 390-400km. i used back and forth to work
klang/shah alam and occasional customer visit. for outstation travel balik
kampung i get rm70 = 415-430km, certain stretch unknowingly touch 140km/hr
BEACAUSE ITS SO STABLE !!!!
Pricey parts? All depend what u are comparing lah... usually ppl will
compare with Wira that they hv not own a Volvo before(since most on the
road) then surely not possible lah.. can say my 5 years of ownership... is
reasonable where once change, the lifespan of parts goes a long way...
