BAD Experience at NSS

Twice in a row that I had bad experience at NSS Glenmarie.
1. Change ATF
Inquired about the full charges involved. Quoted RM 160.00. At the end of
the day, they changed the ATF to a "higher grade" which cost RM 300.00
for 4 litres!
Argued with the people and they gave RM 50.00 discount! "Big" discount!
2. Change Spark Plugs
Car was jerking, hence sent to NSS as was around the area. They said to
change the spark plugs which cost RM 120.00! I was puzzled as my spark
plugs were only at a cost of RM 65.00 per set. Queried them and they said
RM 65 is for other models and not mine.
Gave a quick call to their parts centre at Cheras. Got quotation of RM
65.00 per set. When queried the service adviser Glenmarie, they said they
have misquoted!!!!! At last, they charged me RM 80.00 + RM 20.00 for
After these incidents, have decided to never ever go back to NSS!

Can you guys suggest another workshop then, NSS location is convinient
for me but I do think the prices are steep. Switched to NSS after poor
experiences to Premier Autohouse.

Care to share with us your poor experience with Premier Autohouse? This is
because quite a number of us been sending our cars there without bad
experience. I personally been sending my car there for the last 2+ years
after having bad experience with a few other so called 'volvo specialist'.
It's good to have feedbacks from fellow forumers of poor experience in
certain workshop for others to learn.

thing is that the prices are also quite steep.
Care to share your bad experience there?

Sent my car to PA initially when I got it for the 1st service. Prices were
rather steep but they did use a number of OEM parts to keep the price down.
I did get a shock when I was quoted RM 3000 for a brand new fuel tank when
mine started to leak after 3 months of ownership.( Or RM 1000 for a used
tank ). At that sort of price I finally woke up and called up a number of
places, thanks to the numbers in VOCM website. Found a new tank cost much
less than RM 3000.
So I switched to NSS after that.
My coolant reserve tank had black spots ( residue??) floating in it since
I got it. Even after the coolant was fluahed twice. Anyway later I had
coolant leakage problems and in the cause of trouble shooting changed the
coolant reserve tank cap and serviced the radiator. After servicing the
radiator my water pump ( OEM pump)installed by PA 6 months earlier began
So had to change the water pump to original Volvo and now no more leaks.
Anyway the black spots in the coolant reserve tank dissappeared after the
radiator was serviced.
NSS do seem to carry out decent service but they have high labour rates so
I guess its time to look for a different mechanic with lower overhead

lot of money there due to their poor workmanship and incorrect diagnosis.
BTW I've never thought of asking what NSS stood for while I was their
I also would be wary of sending a volvo to a non-volvo mechanic. They'll
just mess up the car or change parts unnecessarily. Examples are putting
sealant where it was meant to be matted dry, breaking things they don't
know how to dismantle and recommending changing a new caliper $$$ when it
needs are only new piston seals etc etc. Just my humble opinion though.
