hohgch,

Yup ... you can use it for yours. Like you said that you need 8 liters
(9quarts), means that you flush all the existing ATF and replaced with
Redline.

Most of the cars 1990+ recommend ATF DEXRON-III Specification. Though
DEXRON-II may be used. The major difference between DEXRON-II and III is
standard duration test on Rasistance to Oxydation at high temperature
(Oxydation takes place at high temp.).

Duration Test DEXRON-II : 300 hours. (Shorter interval change - 20,000 to
30,000 km)
Duration Test DEXRON-III : 450 hours. (Longer interval change - up to
40,000 km).

What about Redline ?

It is said that Redline "EXCEED DEXRON-III Specification" and meets
DEXRON-IV Specification (better fluidity or lower viscosity at very low
temperatures) ... ... No point use it, since Malaysia is always
hot...hot...hot...and hot. SO stick on DEXRON-III.

---------------

If you can find LubriSilk ATF (MOTOR SILK), it's better for yours.

Duration Test on Resistance to Oxydation for Redline is 900 hours (If I
am not mistaken), ... so longer interval change and better than DEXRON-
III.

No change the ATF for Life .... .... Just PARK in the garage FOR LIVE.

May be not ... "NOT TO CHANGE" ... but "NO NEED TO FLUSH" ... the ATF For
life. It sounds reasonable using LubriSilk ATF with "Boron CLS Bond"
additive. But still have to change without flush.

Sorry for interrupting.

Having read all your expensive ATF oil changes, would anyone recommend the
purchase of a used S40?

I intend to get one for my father but he likes mercedes. Nevertheless, the
say is mine and I hope I can get some good buying tips here.

Thanks.

Karboo:

Er, give your dad what he likes lor.... afterall old man already mah. Of
course Volvo (hands down) is best especially if you pose the question here
in this forum. ATF change may be expensive but it last for quite some time
and not like you have to change it every month (depending on your usage).

karboo,

Actually, there are so many ATF which meets DEXRON-III and MECRON
specifications. TOP is one of them ... CHEAP ... only RM 10 / liter.
Change the ATF every 20,000 km cost only RM 30 and labor RM 10, so RM 40
on total. That's the cheapest that you can get.

Yup, for that RM40 cost and for the 20,000 km run, it's like RM0.002/km.
Just imagine how much kilojoule it has saved you from having to change
gears manually!!!! Big Smile

hohgch,

Yeah ... we have so many choices, why scare with so high maintenance
cost ???.

BTW, the S70R spacecraft which I sent to you is only exist in Europe.
They bring 2.3 Liter Turbocharge (AWD), Stock Power 250 BHP and Torque 35
kgm (350 Nm).

Upgraded to 310 BHP (gain 60 BHP) with only change to RICA ECU (RICA
CHIPS) from UK.

Want to upgrade yours ????? ...
